So this was today, Sunday, in Ukraine:

  • US re-opening embassy in Kyiv
  • Canada re-opening embassy in Kyiv (I believe)
  • US First Lady Jill Biden visited Ukrainian First Lady in Ukraine (albeit Western Ukraine)
  • Major Norwegian political players meeting Zelenskyy in Kyiv
  • President of German Bundestag  meeting Zelenskyy in Kyiv
  • Canadian Prime Minister in Kyiv meeting Zelenskyy in Kyiv
  • Croation Prime Minister in Ukraine (possibly meeting Z in Kyiv)
  • Most of U2 doing a concert of sorts in Kyiv

That is an awful lot of coincidences (well not the U2 stuff) for one day.  Trying to send message to Russia that we are in it for the long haul?

Keep in mind today was victory day over Germany for everyone but Russia. Stalin insisted on a separate German surrender in Russia which is why RU is the day after everyone else.

🇷🇺 urgently withdraws forces from Syria, transferring military bases to the IDF, Israeli media write. Moscow is surrendering its position in the region to throw some firewood (which solves nothing) into the pit of war in 🇺🇦 . Still going "according to plan", right? Well, the plan was great. Reliable as a Swiss watch.

^Uh, what?

Remember kids stay away from the witches of Konotop.

In 1755 the naturalist Stepan Krasheninnikov observed the Amanita muscaria mushroom’s effects on Russian soldiers in Siberia ingesting it for the first time. Claiming to have been seized by an invisible power, the men submitted to the mushroom’s strange and often violent commands. A servant strangled his master. A soldier found himself ordered to his knees and confessed his sins before God. Krasheninnikov’s interpreter drank some mushroom liquor and “went into such a frenzy that he slashed open his abdomen, on the command . . . of mukhomor, the mushroom.” One soldier who ate this mukhomor found a certain dose reduced his fatigue while marching, but after eating more of the mushroom he “gripped his testicles and died.”

I'm kind of disappointed in her - she's written some pretty solid stuff, and has a unique perspective as a naturalized Ukrainian who was born and raised in Russia.

She should know that the Nazi stuff was just an excuse.  They weren't crazy enough to invade because of Nazi crap, they were crazy enough to invade because Putin was arrogant, Putin believes Ukraine is not a real country and are just Russians by another name, and his oligarchs want Ukraine's oil & gas.  And that last point is important - Ukraine was getting close to a point where its o&g industry could bite into Russia's profits selling to Europe.

The closing off of water to Crimea was a huge financial problem for Russia.  They just used this manufactured excuse because they couldn't force Ukraine to do their bidding.

The Zircons, who had been under occupation since day one, were released. Residents of Kharkiv region greeted the Ukrainian military with tears in their eyes.

Kharkiv direction, the racists just dump their heads off from the actions of the Armed Forces.
