Beto 2020

This is the Beto I hoped to see. He has to just say fuck it and go right after that asshole in the White House. He is going to have to get in the mud and beat Dotard to a pulp. The being nice route was not a good choice for him or any other Democrat.

I once thought this as well.  It’s not a bad opinion.

Same. His time may yet come. It's too late for him this time around, but he's on a nice rebound and has an opportunity to come out of this in better shape than he was going in. If you had said that 2 months ago, I'd have called you crazy. Go Beto go.

‘He’s Like, “OK, Well, Screw It”’

...What’s interesting about O’Rourke at this moment is not just that he’s saying fuck a whole bunch—he’s always dropped curse words on the stump—but that he’s entered more broadly a new phase of his 2020 bid, which supporters find inspiring and critics consider desperate to the point of pathetic. Up close, though, it feels actually pretty compelling.

Let’s go ahead and call it Beto’s “fuck-it phase.”

“That’s where I think he’s at now,” Moses Mercado, a Democratic lobbyist from Texas, told me. “He’s like, 'OK, well, screw it.'”

“Eff it,” Austin-based Republican strategist Brendan Steinhauser said.

“He has no fucks to give,” added Jay Surdukowski, an attorney and activist who is one of O’Rourke’s most devoted backers in New Hampshire.

“This feels right to me,” O’Rourke said when I asked him about how he’s currently campaigning when he met with reporters by the stainless-steel beer tanks at Backlash. He said this was “the way politics should be.”

ABC13 here in Houston is essentially abandoning their 4pm and 5pm news to bring us up to the second updates of what's happening at the debates.  So it's mostly "if you look behind me, you'll see people walking..."

But something interesting just now--one of their senior anchors just stated the station spoke with Beto and Beto either stated or implied (hard to tell) that he needs to have a good night tonight or that might be it for him.

Interdasting.

I'm kinda pissed at Beto for not being this Beto all along. He'd be at least in Harris' spot if not higher. And it's probably the closest to his real self that he's ever been in politics. He's comfortable in this current incarnation of Beto, where he looked like someone trying to be something they aren't before.

I wouldn’t take the bait from no-name state reps. If anything you’re just helping that guy. instead of saying you’re calling the cops on him, say that attitudes like his empower the nuts that do end shooting up schools and malls.

Gun control is a good issue for Beto. He can personally tie it to El Paso in a way the other candidates cannot. Sadly he will get interviewed for each subsequent shooting.

This is also an issue that may help him stick around waiting for a few to drop out. Which can’t happen soon enough.

Is it weird that you never see Briscoe Cain and Elijah Wood in the same room together?

And is it weird you never see his wife from the waist down?  Most muppet faces are controlled by a puppeteer who kneels just off camera, I suppose.

Really glad Beto had a good night. If Biden implodes I think you could see him make up a lot of ground in the early states. I don't see him winning Texas if he's not competitive before Super Tuesday.

100% on the Warren-Beto ticket. That would be the perfect moral response to Trump and wins by a landslide imo.

Good night for Beto.

But I would never wear that shirt in public.

Uh yeah, in Texas, there's a better than 80% chance you're going to get some Trumpkin all up in your face screaming at you about MUH RIGHTS and DUR 2ND AMENDEMEMENET and something about socialism.

Of course that Baytown dipshit would have a picture of a black girl in his profile. Fucking Republicans.

Racists if you do, racists if you don't.

Yeah, why are you scared of people screaming in your face? Seems you should arm up if you're so scared of it?

This weekend we were in the Albuquerque airport flying back to Houston, and we saw an older white guy wearing a red t-shirt that said something like "Did you know black people owned slaves in America?" on the front, and on the back it said "Black people owned slaves in TX, LA, GA" and like 6 other states.

Get on the plane, and of course this dude sits across the aisle from us. Damnit. Then, a younger black guy ends up sitting next to him. They didn't talk or engage. Right before taking off a flight attendant came up to the black guy and said there was an empty row if he'd like to move. Black guy was like "Yep, that sounds great!".

Fuck Trump.

The airline should feel empowered to tell people to change clothes if they think a shirt is going to potentially create a scene. "Sir, you have the right to wear whatever shirt you want, just as we have the right to refuse to let you board.  There's a store over there that allows you to be tourist t-shirts. You options are to change, or leave. We will refund your ticket if necessary."

I'm trying to wrap my head around what that guy thinks he is accomplishing or proving by wearing a shirt like that.

I have pretty strong political views as most people who post here do, but whenever i see a car plastered in bumper stickers or people wearing their politics like a uniform it just comes off as trashy or looking for trouble.

You wouldn't know my politics or who I vote for unless I actually told you.
