Time for another ‘my dog is awesome’ thread

Anyone have a rec for a good Austin country vet or place for euthanasia? Not trying to be heartless, but my aussie is obviously ready to go. He's 12+ and has lived longer than every single aussie my entire family has ever owned. He has kidney, digestion and leg/hip problems.
The last time this happened (10 years ago with my first GSP), my regular vet insisted on close to a $1000 in tests, then sent me to another place to put him down, which ended up costing over $1500 in total. Trying to avoid a repeat.
No judgement here. Demanding tests when you live with your dog friend every day is ridiculous. I'm sorry it has reached this point, but you know best and you're being the best friend to your pup. We just went through this with our 13 year old rescue. It's so hard, bit it was the right decision. Sorry I can't offer up recs for a good vet near you.

Rambo is ready to go see his brother Lorrick tomorrow. He can tell things are about to happen and loads up no matter how much too early it is.

God I love my boys...

Man, when I lived in NYC my dog loved the snow. We were a few blocks south of Central Park and We went for a walk late night during blizzard in 2005. He was snow plowing all over the place. So much fun. I’ll have to find those pics.

In other happenings, our Elf got jacked this morning. I knew last night when my wife placed him it was a bad spot. Penny kept checking him out.

Good dog.  That is amazing.  I almost want to get one of those and see what Harvey and Rini do to it.  Harvey loves Gumby toys, and rips them to shreds.

Our boy Dobbs has had a tough few months and has been going to a specialist now for 6 months to the tune of $400 a month and hopefully we have turned a corner. Long story short his body can’t keep protein and his weight got down to 5 pounds and the vet said of this last thing didn’t work they weren’t sure what could be done. He has had exploratory surgery a few years ago that fixed things for a little bit and now he is on some chemo meds. He has always acted fine and had spunk but just kept losing weight. Happy to report he is up to 6.6 pounds now. Poor dude is only 3 years old.

Man, we miss him so much and had no idea how much he dominated our time and attention. He was always in someone’s lap and wouldn’t take no for an answer. I miss how it took 30 minutes every night to give him his medicine.

We still have another mini dachshund that is also 3 and a rescue golden doodle that is 3. They are doing great and have moved on. Wife is doing better and we are ready for our first child in about 4 weeks. The Aggies will push our shit in and we can push Jeremy Gump out of the door. Thanks for your kind words.

Murphy finished his race yesterday. I loved him dearly but he's no longer in pain and in a better place. That gives me some small peace right now. We went to the beach and swimming for our last adventures together. I made a video tribute to him. Hope the link works. Hug your dogs extra tight for Murphy and me these holidays.

Good boy Murphy!  Sending you good thoughts in the coming days maninblack.  May the good times shared with your canine kid comfort you in time of loss.
