Completely understand the sardonic celebrations, but it's also true that if you're playing then you play to win. Congratulations to the team for stepping up and showing out instead of getting their asses kicked then claiming it was because they didn't want to be there like a bitchass SEC football team.16 points

There are rumors the Mueller report contains evidence of a secret meeting where trump admits to Lester Holt that he fired the director of the fbi because of the “russia thing.”12 points

I like how she showed a portion of the handwritten note and the photo but was smart enough to leave out the F250 photos and stacks of cash. This is a well versed recruiting mom.11 points

I'm gonna be at the bar at the Round Rock Olive Garden all night celebrating this championship season. How many scotches will it take for this championship buzz to come down? I don't know. You do the math, I'm doing the alfredo, and the hostess, in that order. Maybe both at the same time. Who knows. Anything goes when the Horns win a title.10 points

yes, just about style. i don't really even go looking at IPs unless there is a good reason. even then, i try to disclose as little information as possible. for instance, when onboard claimed that david dennison was hugo. i checked, that wasn't the case, said as much, but didn't say more. believe it or not, your privacy is one of the most important things i try to safeguard.8 points

My favorite part of this is his refusal to acknowledge that this is all about Texas Tech. Sure, you guys made this move because the sec competition is really heating up, not because Texas Tech just did something in basketball that you haven't done since anyone watching was born. Truth is, a bunch of aggy egos got hurt by another Texas school from the bdf having national success, so they did what aggy and twelve year old girls do when their feelings get hurt: they went shopping to make themselves feel better and overspent in the process.6 points

It's so weird that the Rs think that the only reason Ds care about Russia is because Hillary lost. They act like we thought she was our savior or some such. I guess it makes sense because they DO think of the dotard as their savior, so it must be the same on the other side too. If pretty much any other R had won, the reaction would not be nearly as severe, he just happens to be the absolute most horrifying president in our history. For them to chalk it all up to "Dems are just sore losers" is just such childish and simple thinking not based in any reality.6 points

I’m on “operation stop being a fatass” so I’m trying to cook low carb and a little healthier. I’ve posted this before on the old site. Spinach and avocado and tomato and red onion salad. Grilled skirt steak and chimichurri. Good stuff. Feelin’ like Popeye.5 points

Lulz. Nobody believes that Trumpkins are pretending to be that stupid. You are that stupid. Maybe it's not your fault, it's possible that you live too close to wind turbines, and the tumors are rotting your brain.5 points

Because he has no respect for the tradition or the prestige of the office, and never has. He ran for President as a lark in the past, made a semi-serious effort of doing so in 2015 and discovered that tapping the inner hatred and fear of change among voters (combined with a terrible D candidate) and voila! The office of President fell into his lap. He never has been a serious student of politics and the art of compromise; he became President and was handed all the trappings of the job but really only wanted the power, not to be Presidential. He as an adult had no one to answer to; no shareholders, no family or others so the only way he can be President is to do just like everything else in his life he has ever done. He has never had to fear loss or the word no, for there was always another sucker to fleece, another bank to swindle, another scam to work. He is in his own mind a worldly man, but he has no background in anything but "deal-making". His moral convictions are based on sand, his word is not worth the toilet paper he wipes his ass with, and by most counts, he is a failure in everything he has ever done, and a failure as a person. But none of that matters, because he found out that he could con 30% or so of the population + a political party that had the gravitas and the means necessary to promote and protect he and his family.5 points

Whatever. You’re pointless to have a discussion with because you’re so entrenched in your righteousness and you don’t discuss. You browbeat and you’re exhausting. Anyway, for folks who were worried about Beto’s website just being a merch store -5 points

got into the parking garage at work, looked down at the odometer, 150,002. completely fucking missed it. i'd been looking forward all yesterday, even thought about driving the extra couple miles yesterday so that i'd be parked at home with 150,000. i was already in a sour mood due to lack of caffeine and sleep (really seems like we've had more 2 am thunderstorms lately than usual). now i'm just completely pissed the fuck off.5 points

We have an IP camera at home. It only covers the living room. To keep an eye on our dog, I physically plug it in before I leave for work, and unplug it when I get home. The woman who uses her legit email address to sign onto illegal streaming sites; clicks on "apps" and "quizzes" on facebook; uses Zuckerberg Messenger as her primary communications platform..... she tells me this: "why are you still using the camera? i heard it can be hacked by strangers. i dont want them to monitor us. they'll know when we're not at home, and kidnap the dog" What a wonderfully balanced outlook on privacy and security.5 points

Are you saying that a pilot who is fighting an airplane that is incorrectly but actively trying to prevent a (false) stall situation should slow the aircraft down? With less than a minute to save the lives of everyone on board the pilot is supposed to trust that the malfunctioning automated systems are suddenly going to correctly interpret flight conditions with respect to stall? You and Your Mom aren't recognizing that if that report is true (big if) then the pilots followed the procedure and then bailed on the procedure when it wasn't working. That doesn't mean they didn't follow it, that means they followed it, determined it was not going to prevent their deaths, then aborted the procedure accordingly and tried something else. It certainly seems plausible they shouldn't have aborted it, but trying something with a limited time for success and then abandoning it when it's not working fast enough isn't the same thing as not trying it. That's why I stand by my analogy as better than yours. Maybe with 30 seconds before you careen off the cliff you have time to overpower the steering wheel without power steering. Maybe it will take you 25 seconds to do so and everyone who has read the manual should know this. But if a driver has 30 seconds until their death and the emergency procedure has not started working AT ALL 10 seconds into it then the vast majority of human beings are going to move on to their next effort. No, we're arguing with professional pilots that the engineers bear at least some responsibility for this situation. Maybe you should ask them why they're arguing with an engineer about that. (In case it's not clear, I think both appeals to authority are equally vacuous with respect to this conversation. The pilots are explaining why the pilots should have done better and the engineers are explaining why the engineers should have done better.)4 points

Yes having the Secretary of Defense spend one hour per month listening to active duty military and their families about issues with base housing will certainly keep them from doing all their important work. Having the Secretary of Transportation sit down for an hour a month and listen to air traffic controllers explain why our system is woefully out of date will completely wreck their schedule. Having the Secretary of Energy sit down with coal miners to help explain why the president understands they’re scared of being forgotten but let’s have a conversation about why coal is a dying energy source and how we can help transition them so they don’t get all angry and economically anxious and vote for a conman who wants to burn it all down and won’t help them anyhow. Having the Secretary of Education sit down with a bunch of young people burdened by student loans for one hour to listen to their suggestions on how to fix a broken system will completely shut down her ability to do her job. Yeah. These people are so busy! They can’t take one hour a month to meet with citizens! They have to go to things like Davos and campaign rallies and speeches and shit.4 points
