  2. D&D are such fucking hacks. We're all in on this because of the story, the setup, and the characters. But the execution over the last few seasons has been terrible. Not that it makes a shit, but a few plot point questions: -- So the original plan is everyone is marching south to defeat Cersei, while Jaimie is hanging back in Winterfell to fuck the big woman. But then suddenly once Cersei pulls some Cersei shit with the iron fleet, everything has changed and Jaimie just has to go ride south to help her or kill her? Why? What changed in his mind? -- Although some in the audience may care about Missandei, there's no way either side should in the grand scheme of things. Does anyone honestly think that in a major military battle someone's handmaiden/translator is going to be used as a bargaining chip? When William the Conqueror landed in England, do you think he was looking to capture Harold's butler to force him to surrender? It's pure nonsense.

  6. This show is dumb now. Used to be when characters did dumb shit they died for it. Now the heroes constantly do dumb shit and get their army fucked up, then by next episode they have an army again and do more dumb shit. How many times are they going to let themselves be surprised by dumbass Euron? Apparently half the army survived last episode? Bronn scene was a joke. Rhaegal got taken out by cartoon villain Euron firing a scorpion that can shoot around corners? Jon just gives Ghost away, wtf? They hold a parlay within range of Cersei, and she doesn’t try to kill them all? At least my expectations for the last 2 episodes are really low.

  10. The pacing is so just all over the place. D&D are like a kid playing with a VCR remote. Spend 25 minutes on drunken hook ups, then 90 seconds deleting Rhaegal attack ships abandon ships swim shore Missi gone wait wut? Jamie's crisis of conscience, odd. Like someone else mentioned, what changed? Unless he lied to Brienne so she wouldn't try to follow him to KL? and his plan is to try and end this shit before KL is leveled? I didn't get Tyrion insisting that it's all over for Cersei. The whole "you have no shot, just surrender" speech. Seems like the two sides are about even right now. Ned lied to his own wife for 20 years to protect Jon - a lie that besmirched his honor (kind of a big deal for Ned) - but Jon can't at least wait until the war is over to go run and tell his sisters? Why did they HAVE to know this information yesterday? Varys' flip-flopping feels a tad dumbed down for his character. He's not owning the fact that he and Tyrion's advising, plans, and strategies have fucking sucked ass up to this point. And hey, maybe Dany has a right to be a little impatient and pissed off. They're getting their asses kicked up and down Westeros by a pirate. And he still insists on doing this conquering stuff off without a single civilian casualty. Jon ditches Ghost, his loyal companion, and can't even be bothered to go give him a PAT ON THE HEAD? After everything Ghost has done for him? WTF?! WTF?! Worst scene in the series. Jon is the shittiest pet owner in Westeros.

  11. Maybe it's cause I drink while watching these episodes, but I just don't get how so many are saying that episode sucked. I thought it was awesome. Cracks forming between Jon and Dany and the secret is out, Varys and Tyrion doubting Dany, shocking death of Rhaegal, Jamie just can't quit Cersei, etc. The celebration ran a bit long, but still thought there were some strong moments throughout.

  13. Yep. These producer/writers don't have a fraction of the imagination of the man who created their playground. They couldn't bring themselves to sacrifice a single major character in the battle with the dead even though all of them outside of the crypt were placed in hopeless situations. They didn't bother to learn anything about battle strategy in setting up the big battle with the dead. The episodes before and after the battle were similar to some of the self-loving character studies that spelled the decline of The Walking Dead. Dany outside the walls of Kings Landing was jarring for all the reasons stated. I don't know if someone mentioned that the geography was even different. I have the feeling that they didn't have time to add CGI to recreate the forests that we've seen in that area. For several moments I was waiting for an explanation of where they were and why Dany had appeared with so weak a force. The Euron ambush was stupid and just raced through. Why wouldn't Euron follow up and destroy everyone including those who somehow swam ashore? In daylight, there is nothing to stand against him. Why wouldn't Dany go after them at night when they wouldn't be able to see the dragon to shoot at it? Why split your forces and go to Dragon Stone? I never watch the "Behind the Episode" pieces that accompany TV shows. I have some background in filmmaking and the droning of directors/producers about their genius decisions grates. Just the sight of these guys makes me angry. They were given a great story that they have executed well. They've proven that they don't have the mettle to create on the level required. I sound angry, but I'm still enjoying the story despite its decline in quality. There will never be another surprise like the Red Wedding or the execution of Ned Stark. I don't foresee an elegant or clever ending to GOT, but I still like it. The story telling has grown poor, but the momentum of the excellent story telling of the past still works. I care what happens.

(Waiter shows up) Her: Are the flautas made with flour or corn tortillas? Waiter: Corn. Her: Okay, then I'll have the cheese enchiladas instead. (I don't say anything.) (Later she comments that the cheese enchiladas are really good.) Me: Why didn't you get the flautas? Her: Because I didn't want corn tortillas. Me: You DO realize that those cheese enchiladas are made with corn tortillas also, right? Her: ..........

  18. Good grief. That's so overblown. Let's talk about this difference in flight characteristics. You are not the first person on this thread to read something written by an uninformed writer and to post about how the MAX is unstable and nothing like the earlier 737s. That idea is completely exaggerated and not based on facts. Yes, the engines are bigger and mounted more forward under the wing. Yes, this causes a slight pitch up when power is added. Yes, to recover from a stall you need to pitch down not up. Those are facts. Here are some more: All airplanes pitch up when you add power. The amount that the MAX pitches up is not unsafe or abnormal. The only issue is that the stick force required to push that nose down at the slowest airspeeds with power applied is slightly more than the stick force required for earlier 737s. It's not an excessive amount of pressure required, just a DIFFERENT amount and only at one specific speed. If it were a completely new airplane nobody would blink an eye at the required stick force. This deviation in required stick force is present only in the absolute slowest regime of speeds. As you get toward that slow airspeed you would first get a buffet alert and at that point the MAX characteristics are still exactly like the NG. That right there is also slower that 99.999999999% of pilots will ever get even once in their entire career. Then you must ignore that and get slower. You will eventually get a very loud "AIRSPEED LOW!" warning over and over again. I've personally never been this slow and doubt I know anyone who has, except in a sim and on purpose for training. At this point the MAX still feels and flies exactly the same as an NG. Let's say you still ignore that and still get slower... Then you get the stick shaker. It's loud and violent and impossible to miss. It doesn't vibrate, it shakes hard and loud like a machine gun. At this point the MAX still feels and flies exactly the same as an NG model. Then you ignore the shaker, with the LOW AIRSPEED warning still going off, and get even slower. Now you are in a regime where the stick force required to push the nose down is different from the NG but not excessive if it were not being compared to an NG. This difference in required stick force is measured in the single digits of pounds and was detected by test equipment but not noticed by most of the test pilots. But because that 8 pound difference in force was detected, they had add the MCAS. This is a good time to point out that the MCAS doesn't help you recover from a stall, it simply helps recreate the same amount of stick force in that one speed regime. The pilot still has to recover with the same technique, the MCAS just makes it feel identical instead of very slightly different. The fact that a different amount of stick force is required does not make the airplane unstable. Not even close to it. The difference you feel when driving you wife's car vs your own is far greater than the difference in feel between a non-MCAS MAX and a NG model. Now none of that is to say the single source design and a few other aspects of it of the MCAS aren't completely fucked up, because they are. Boeing dropped the ball bigtime on the MCAS, but that doesn't make the MAX as a whole airplane unstable. It flies beautifully and I'd fly it every day over an NG if they'd let me. I only have a dozen or so hours in the MAX, no MCAS activations, and it feels exactly like the NG only smoother and more quite. I love it and can't wait for them to fix the MCAS software.

  22. Brienne having a relationship with Jaime was a terrible storyline. It felt like a 1980's high school RomCom. Brienne is pursued by social outcast Tormund but gains the attention of the former high school prom king Jaime Lannister. Who will she choose? The former prom king of course and for a fleeting moment she had it all. I laughed at her crying, Tormund would have waged war for Brienne, she choose poorly.

  24. Wasn't a fan of this one. When Dany looks like she might sell one of her dragons to the slavemaster it was a sad moment. When the NK kills one it was gut-wrenching. Then the 2 remaining fight an epic battle against their zombie brother and survive. Then Negan of the Sea shows up and takes one out like it's nothing. We're left feeling almost nothing because of the way they did it. 5 seconds later everyone is in KL and every single one of us knew they were gonna execute Missandei as soon as that scene started. And for those who are like "but they only have x episodes left to get this all done", who's decision was it to get this all done in so few episodes? The same assholes writing it.

  26. The rampant stupidity continues unabated: . Dany doesn’t want to wait let her dragons and the Northmen heal, or wait for reinforcements from Dorne. Jon, Tyrion, etc don't want to Dany to kill innocents and look evil by burning the city, so they're going to starve them out instead ? That will make her look benevolent ? We don't get to see Arya and Sansa's reactions to the news of who Jon's parents were. After Dany's fleet was savaged by Euron last season because Yara apparently had no scout ships, Dany once again goes back to sea instead of marching overland, and has no advance scouting to see where Euron might be hiding ? D+D literally said after the episode that "Dany forgot about Euron." LOL Euron's ships apparently can’t be seen from the air ? Euron has ship-to-air guided crossbows that can shoot around mountains and are deadly accurate at long range and high altitude, but not so much during a low-altitude frontal attack ? The Unsullied are able to swim ashore in their armor, but somehow Missandei can’t, even though she grew up on a tropical island and is only wearing leather ? My wife and I had low expectations for this week, and were still disappointed. These next two weeks could get really ugly. A complete crash and burn isn't out of the question.

  28. It would have made more sense if Euron had concealed a scorpion on board a fishing or trade vessel, which subsequently would have been torched by Drogon. A suicide bomber-style sneak attack would have been more shocking and driven home the point that Dany's dragons aren't safe anywhere in the skies of Westeros.

  29. It was a hack episode... those giant metal crossbows on the fleet can't point straight up. Why not fly up and over with Puff#2 and torch the bad guys while they are firing on your fleet? Why not hover high over the wall with Puff#2 when the failed surrender negotiations are going on and just point up when the negotiations seem to be going south? I think the only people I can stand to remotely root for now are Arya and the Hound. I liked Big Red the wildling too, but seems he's retired now.

  30. I couldn't get over this scene. Scorpion that is powerful/accurate enough to shoot out of view hundreds of feet into the air without the dragon/rider seeing a giant fleet of black ships. They all hit with deadly accuracy even after the first hit that would've changed the dragon's location/speed. Suddenly when the bigger dragon is much closer and flying at a better angle they all miss. And since scorpions take forever to load it nice of her to pull up and not scorch them while they're reloading.

  31. I'm not suggesting Bran should be helping now, just that they went to all that trouble to develop a character with a very unique skill set, and then do nothing with him. Why have him in the series at all? He may as well have died from the fall. They could have easily come up with other ways for the Night King to get south of the wall and for the truth about Jon to be known. I think he was destined for bigger things, but is a casualty of the rush to finish, along with so many others.

  33. Sorry about the delay but my weekend was full--DC concerts and sporting events. Yeah, I love DC United and watching them play in the new stadium is fantastic...which reminds me, where are all the up in arms anti socialists when it comes time to pay for a new stadium on the tax payer dime? New Jerryworld? Sure, why not--f'k healthcare or educational funding. Your site doesn't include Trump lifting sanctions on Oleg Deripaska, in January, who was a Putin ally. He really slow played applying sanctions to begin with: https://themoscowproject.org/collusion/trump-administration-lifts-sanctions-on-firms-tied-to-deripaska/. The good thing about this site is that it lists all of its links/sources which you can also counter research through other resources such as the Guardian or Routers. And he certainly wasn't happy about kicking out Russian diplomats along with sending weapons to the Ukraine which seemed to be more of an act by others because he was pushed to per WaPo. In fact the first thing Trump tried to do once in office was lift all sanctions against Russia: https://www.newsweek.com/trump-white-house-secret-efforts-lift-russia-sanctions-putin-619508 However, it doesn't explain his private conversations with Putin, establishing back channels, the Trump Hotel meeting, Russian interference in the elections benefitting Trump as well (https://www.justice.gov/sco). My worldview is that Trump is a little bitch which explains all of his public support of Putin. "At least 17 Trump associates had contacts with Russians or Wikileaks, which released hacked documents, during the campaign or transition, according to an analysis of public records by the New York Times, with at least 100 face-to-face interactions, phone calls or electronic messages with Russians or Kremlin-linked figures and at least 51 individual communications." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-42493918 Furthermore, the bank which loaned him money was implicated in Russian money laundering along with Trump recently suing them to not disclose his financial records. This is really a big deal but not to Trump supporters who seem to look the other way with all of his suits regarding his financials. Especially since he's lied about being forthcoming with them. Remember Obama's birth certificate? Yeah, so let's see those taxes already. A 2017 report by Reuters, citing public documents, interviews and corporate records, also found that at least 63 Russians or people with Russian addresses bought nearly $100 million worth of property in seven Trump-branded Florida luxury buildings. https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/12/21/how-russian-money-helped-save-trumps-business/. Whoops! Despite these financial connections to Russia, some of which are well documented, Trump and his associates have consistently played down the relationship. “I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA – NO DEALS, NO LOANS, NO NOTHING!” Trump tweeted a few days before his inauguration. A month later, when asked whether anyone advising his campaign had contact with Russia, Trump responded: “No. Nobody that I know of. … I have nothing to do with Russia. To the best of my knowledge, no person that I deal with does.” And his then spokeswoman Hope Hicks said flatly: “There was no communication between the campaign and any foreign entity during the campaign.” And my favorite: “There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy said, according to Entous, a superb reporter who heard a tape recording of the colloquy. “Swear to God.” but again, more on Trumps Russian financial transactions which you can read to educate or disprove: https://themoscowproject.org/collusion-chapter/chapter-1/ I used strip the text but not bothering to tonight. Spent some time in the studio and now crashing. How many pages have been added over the weekend?

  36. We just moved into a new house with hardwood floors, and if you've seen my posts in the dog thread, you can guess what they look like. So I bought us a roomba thingy and it arrived today. I unpacked it and put it on the charger, and it was ready to go about the time my wife came home from work. So I started it up and let it go, and with her watching me, picked up all the little stuff that was in its way. After a while, she picked it up and moved it into the bedroom. I walked in there later, and there are shoes and clothes all over the floor, and she's sitting on the bed reading her laptop, which has all sorts of cords dangling down on the floor. I picked up the shoes and clothes and said, "You know, this won't work well if there's shit for it to run into," hoping she'd get the hint. Narrator: she didn't. A couple of minutes later, she asks me where the screwdrivers are. It had run over the earbuds that were dangling down from the computer and gotten tangled up in them. Took her 20 minutes of actual use to fuck this thing up.
