I don't believe for a moment that any of this is entertaining to you. I think it gives you a bit of anxiety knowing that your best weapon against a group who you despise is a bumbling fraud as a businessman who is completely unable to be consistently truthful even about inconsequential details as a president. The guy is a complete mediocrity in the realm of business and he's fighting for his life to conceal the financial records that will prove that. At best. At best he's breaking the most common norms of a system built on checks and balances to hide the fact that he regularly lost large amounts of other people's money. You support the destruction of basic aspects of democracy so a con artist rube who has spent most of his life cultivating a celebrity profile can save himself from the embarrassment of truth. And the best you can hope for is that he's fighting so desperately to hide the fact that he's a mediocre mind rather than an overt criminal. Staunch conservatives who have spent their lifetime as prosecutors are saying he has committed crimes. There will always be handfuls of wanks who will say otherwise, especially on cable news, but I think you and everyone else are perfectly aware of why you're especially narrow and selective on whose opinion you value there. You quoted me in a post and used the word "delusion" while insisting that a report exonerated him when it clearly did not. Trump is currently shitting his pants and fighting the public testimony of a guy whose report he claims completely exonerates him. And you've just decided, based on the word of a guy who lies almost everyday, to believe him instead of showing slight curiosity to see if the guy who exonerated him will in fact exonerate him. What's at stake is the separation of powers and whether there are particular people in this country who are above the law. You're claiming that people are delusional while supporting a person fighting a war to hide specific realities. You aren't entertained. You're emotionally invested in a guy who lies on a comical level and it gives you angst that the momentum for transparency is surging.19 points

Trump didn't create the base. The base created Trump. There really is no conservative ideology anymore. It's basically grievance/victimhood, crazy conspiracy theories, and winning at all costs. Trump is just the manifestation of what conservatism became during the Obama years.12 points

I won't be disappointed. I loathe him as a human but I've stated here multiple times I'm positive he'll win reelection. What you perceive as insanity is mainly rational people saddened and frustrated by watching the largest expansion of executive power tenfold and the complete dismissal of an entire chamber of government and petulant disdain for the other. The destruction of that balance should concern conservatives the most, considering the normal social mores of ideology. You're so clouded in the retardation of your singularity that you haven't noticed that the majority of people in this forum who've you've designated as "insane" have savagely lambasted the democratic side of the isle. You couldn't fathom that. You haven't even noticed it because the depth of your curiosity stops at the 'Monday Night Football' intro music of cable news talking points received as ammo rather than the pliancy of ideation. Few people here recognize you as a thinker because you don't offer thoughts. You just recycle bumper sticker jargon as if nobody else here has access to Fox News, talk radio or the internet. Learn to swim.11 points

Look at you juggling political motivations. What about the political motivations of Putin's government and the Trump campaign that were in alignment, known to each other, and worked in concert to the benefit of both? That's the original sin. Without that there would be no Steele dossier and no surveillance of members of Trump Inc. interacting with foreign spies. Don't work with the enemy and you won't get investigated. When a Russian spy says "Psssst...hey buddy...want to make a deal?" you call the FBI, you don't say "I'd love it!" and set up a secret meeting. If you opt for the latter, you don't get to complain when the FBI taps your phone, dumbass. You're thinking backwards. You have your conclusion, which appears to have come straight from Trump's mouth, and you're working backwards from there to try to justify it. We've already heard you parrot "collusion delusion" on more than one occasion. You're not thinking for yourself. You're just falling in line and dancing to the piper's tune. "Privately funded?" So what? What does that mean? Should it have been publicly funded? Would that have been better? You repeat it like it should suggest that "privately funded" means it's somehow nefarious. Don't be an idiot. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, does opposition research and pays for it. They're looking for factually accurate dirt that they can use against their political opponents. They don't need to pay anyone to make up lies. Politicians don't need to outsource lies. They can handle that inhouse. Think! Do you seriously think that paying for it from a private source is bad but receiving it for free from a hostile foreign government is totally okay? "Sourced from Russia?" Not from the Putin's government. It was a former allied intelligence officer, employed by a private agency contracted to do oppo research, getting info from sources within Russia. You should know better than to say "Russia" as if it means the Russian government. It wasn't from Russia, it was from Russians. It's a significant difference. (And do we know that all of those sources are still alive and well?) But you're just parroting Trump's spin. At least you didn't add that it was the Hillary Clinton campaign that paid for the totally routine exercise of looking up dirt on the opponent as if that makes it even more suspect, another favorite Trump meme. I'm actually surprised you left that one out.9 points

This story has some politics, but it isn't CR, I promise. Wise County had the same Constable in Pct 1 for 16 years, Dennis Hudson. He was first elected as a D in the 90's and stayed D even as R's took power, usually running unopposed. Everybody liked him and he did his job well and very low profile. Ran a gas station and would lock up to serve papers when needed, delivering them in his personal pickup. Never saw him in a uniform. In 2008, a nutbag named Tom Bishop ran against him as an R and cleaned up with straight ticket voters. First thing he did was convince County Commissioners to buy his personal cop car (it would be cheaper than buying a new car and outfitting it). Who has their own cop car? The thing was a worn out POS that raked up $1000's in repair bills. He made himself a uniform like that Milwaukee Sheriff. He started running his own DWI campaign, speed traps and joined every pursuit or drug bust that came over the radio even if it was way out of his area. He expanded his office to add 2 employees to handle paperwork (his job if he wasn't running around), burned through his fuel budget in just a few months and requested more. Commissioners turned him down and told him to cool it with the Supercop routine. He did not. He wrecked his car trying to join a pursuit he was not a part of (it was about 20 miles away going away from him). They told him they weren't paying for any more repair bills for his car and bought him a 6 cyl 4 door pickup with no lights or siren. He threw a fit and wanted a new police package Tahoe. He refused to drive it then tried to trade the pickup in on a cop Tahoe with a car dealer in Corpus but that fell through when the dealer called for the title. Next election the old Constable ran as an R and won in a landslide. He's still in office.7 points

Theres a fair number of GOP voters that are single issue voters. Between abortion, guns rights, and ramming Christianity into our government, the GOP has a massive block of voters they know they cannot lose. In the minds of these simpleton voters, it simply doesnt matter how fucking corrupt the president is because he provides a path to the one issue they care about. Nothing else matters to these fucking retards. Unless the democrats become pro-choice, pro Jesus, or pro guns, they would vote for Trump immediately after he shit in their mouths and told them it was cheesecake.7 points

This might be cheesy for some but I know at least a few will appreciate it- It was the perfect storm for me yesterday. Obviously watched it at work on my computer and contributed to this thread until I left the office. That's when the real fun for me started. I coach my twin boys 9U soccer team and we had practice last night. So right from the high of the end of the game, home to change, pick up the boys and head to practice. 9 is such a great age because they are old enough to get it but still young enough to not be tainted by social media and everything else that can make sports a beating sometimes. It's tough to explain if you don't have kids but their joy of sports is just pure fandom without the negative side. Well, I didn't tell them that Liverpool won or were even playing (they knew they had lost 3-0 because we watched it but didn't know the return leg was yesterday) It was tough as shit not saying anything to them but I was able to do it and had an absolute blast at practice with the rest of their team. After practice was over we went home, they took showers while I made dinner (wife is out of town for work, love my wife to death but also part of the perfect storm- "guys night"). I tell them that Liverpool played and one of my son's instantly said "They won 4-0 didn't they!!!!!?" Again it was hard to not tell them but I told them they would have to watch. So as we ate dinner the three of us watched the entire game, it was like it was new all over again and seeing the joy and happiness on their face as each goal went in and the unbelievable became possible, probable, and then happened is something that I will never forget. They went nuts and the post game YNWA was so fucking perfect it not only made me happy all over again for my favorite soccer team but just an amazing teaching moment for my kids that nothing is fucking impossible if you work your ass off and believe. I said it in the CL thread but yesterday is why sports are so damn amazing. Not only for the entertainment but the relationships, teamwork, drive, love and belief that are such an important part of life and one that I am always trying to explain and teach my kids not so they become a great (insert any sport here) player but more importantly they become great people. It's truly an experience that is difficult to explain but one that I again will never forget. TLDR: Watched game with kids, it was awesome, life lessons, etc.7 points

Hi, not a libtard, was actually very unhappy with Holder during fast and furious. I'm even more pissed with the Barr situation. Also, the two aren't comparable and were very different situations. Holder produced thousands of documents at the committee's request, and started resisting when he decided it was a fishing expedition. It's not acceptable, but it was predicated with complying and making an effort to work with the committee. Barr hasn't produced any documents for any house committees, and begged the president to assert privilege to buy some more time. Barr's DOJ has not worked in good faith with the committees, and is stonewalling constitutionally required oversight from a co-equal branch.6 points

Prosecutor: Mr. Chappelle, what would it take to convince you that R. Kelly is guilty? Dave Chappelle: Okay, I'd have to see a video of him singing "Pee On You," two forms of government ID, a police officer there to verify the whole thing, four or five of my buddies and Neal taking notes, and R. Kelly's grandma to confirm his identity. R. Kelly's Grandma: That's my Robert, always peeing on people.6 points

How is this not full blown constitutional crisis at this point? Fuck, on #bothsides really. The government is ceasing to function in terms of co-equal branches and oversight. Rs have been given every chance to do their jobs and they aren't. Ds are dancing around their responsibilities and not doing their jobs either. It's go time. Gloves need to come off.5 points

Right. That's what the gun control people are saying, too. Literally no one is saying that guns are causing these shootings. The point, which has been made thousands of times, is that easy access to guns empowers certain people to do something awful. It's one thing to shoot a person from 10 or 20 feet It's another thing entirely to beat a person to death with a bat or stab them with a knife. Many people have the stomach for the former, but not the latter. And it's easier for a group of people to subdue someone with a bat or knife than to subdue someone with an AR-15. And if someone does decide to shoot into a crowd, he can do a lot more damage with high-capacity mags than with a basic hunting rifle, which almost no one is in favor of banning. Etc. No one is saying guns are causing these shootings, but there would be fewer of them and there would be fewer causalities if military-grade guns couldn't be bought at fucking Academy. Fix that, then we can talk about fixing the underlying mental health issues. And I think Republicans DO hear these arguments and understand them. I think they just don't give a shit. And they ought to be fucking ashamed of themselves.5 points
