Schedules are going to be a challenge, because the train is going to run significantly faster on the trips north than on the trips south. Because Oklahoma sucks.18 points

He was playing a concert in Rochester, MN about 10-15 years ago. Family friend who was going ran into him out getting lunch. Apparently he was a super nice guy, and they start bullshitting. Friend casually mentions that they're going boating in the morning. Eddie asked to come with, and they thought he was joking. He was dead serious. They had 3 days until the next show, so the next day, Eddie Money shows up at their dock and goes boating with them. They hit it off, stayed in touch, and he'd hit them up every time he was swinging through the Upper Midwest. I never met him myself, but by all accounts just a good fucking dude. CSB, yada yada. RIP. Shakin' is a great song.17 points

This seems like a great place to discuss aggy’s next shitty QB for several pages.12 points

Actually, I do think the vast majority of failures at ranking football players by the services are because of reliance on camp performances. The recruiting services aren't the only people guilty of this, the NFL does it all the time at the combine. I honestly don't give a single shit about Haynes King, not even based on where he committed. But when your #1 QB in the country looks that bad in an actual football game, you screwed up. Particularly if the reason he's #1 is because of things he did in shorts in drills that can be prepped for but don't have four to five 270 pound linemen coming after you with bad intentions. Camps aren't football. The recruiting services frequently lose sight of that.11 points

Thank God you showed up to splash cold water on this thread for the rest of us. Your level-headed, objective thinking has settled this thread. You’re always above the fray, objective, insightful and intelligent. A true asset to this board. We cannot wait for your next drive-by, totally objective, non-obtuse question on a thread somewhere in which the rest of us are entertaining ourselves without you fucking ramming your weak shit into the middle of it.11 points

Aside from his poor game performance, King’s height is going to be a problem at the college level. Judging by this picture he’s only 5’7”.9 points

I don’t understand this idea that the legacy CR was so much better...I recall it being dominated by Tahoe/CL/Swam types all chastising Obama for F&F, Benghazi, deficit and other ‘scandals’ shouting about his ‘bow and apologize weakness’...anyone who didn’t feel that way and dared to speak up was drowned in obsessions about tan suits and mustard talk...or Hilary email memes. I guess it’s fitting that this thread exists, so you can reminisce about the ‘good ole days’ where women knew their place, individual idiots are worth obsession as examples of ‘x exists therefore all y is false’ (like the Jussie thread), and ‘my peepaw carried a .22 on his back to kindergarten so all guns should be legal’ (like the Mass Shooter threads). The rest of us will see that Hilary was flawed but not worth everlasting mockery, Smullet is an idiot but there’s a very real problem with racism ingrained in all levels of our government/society, and that legislation is proving to be necessary to make weapons designed for the military out of *most* people’s hands. On top of that we will call out the clear violations of law this administration flaunts almost daily, mock those whose narrow world views continue to put those perps in office and use the internet to express opinions that ‘this shit ain’t right’. Im glad the old CR has lost its ‘cache’...”the good ole days weren’t always good, and tomorrow ain’t as bad it seems”8 points

JFC. You claim to be a Biden fan. Hillary and Biden share almost identical platforms. If you voted for Trump, against a platform you claim to like, then he is 100 percent your fault. Not Hillary's. Not Obama's. People hate Hillary because of the dumb ass negative attacks that Rush has been putting out since the 90s. It is and was irrational hatred, plain and simple. In reality, Trump voters are just looking for an excuse. They are going to pull the lever for Trump again. Doesn't matter who the Dem candidate is. Fox and Rush will ramp up against the Dem primary winner and you'll go right back to "people have hated them forever." But Pocahontas! But he's gonna take our guns! But he's touchy feely in pictures! But socialist! The excuses are already lined up for you. I'm sure you were a "but her emails" man. Trump and his spawn have been about 10 times worse. Funny how it's not an issue for him.7 points

In an attempt to discourage people from going into a degenerate spiral into the darkness that is Cloak Room we are going to start running ads ONLY in cloak room and it's threads regardless if you are a member or not. Treefiddy peeps will never see ads ever, these ads are actually going to be treated like a totally different site and will most likely be political in nature. He a troll. Not the modern, garden variety of troll that just throws stupid shit at the wall. He's an old school troll. That means he's a sly operative, dropping contrarian "gotchas" carefully designed to induce replies that squirm around uncomfortably within the distorted reality rearranged by each of his preposterous equivocations. I've come to respect his work. It's like a blast from the past; a relic from the message boards of old. Not a lot of trolls left like him. He does it for the love of the game.6 points

Might as well post this on the aggie thread. Zach Evans tried to commit a while back to Georgia. They didn't take the commitment. Evans refused to run track in the spring. He dogged it at practice. He's been a cancer this season. He's suspended from the team. I assume he's going to wind up signing with ATM. This guy is going to plummet in the rankings. If/when he commits to ATM, they'll start the howling about the conspiracy against him in the recruiting space. King is going to drop and Demas is for sure going to drop. Depending upon what entertains you, there's an extremely high probability that this recruiting cycle is going to be awesome or nauseating when watching the ATM faithful react to market forces that are perfectly justified in where they drive various rankings. 2021 stands a very strong chance of being even worse, unless this season somehow doesn't nose dive. The overall rankings numbers could continue to be somewhat illusory, however, because of the inflation-pumping shit they do, as well as the mercenary element to it. A guy like Evans is a legitimate top 25 national prospect based on raw talent. He's not a top 1500 guy based on the intangibles. I'm getting excited about him potentially going to ATM, and I'm guessing those goobers are too, yet for totally different reasons.6 points

Universal plans have universal buy in. If all Americans are on the same single payer plan, then it is much less likely to face cuts or elimination in the future. When you separate health care into two classes, there will always be demonization of the folks on "government" health care. It's the same reason that Bernie's free college and student loan forgiveness plans are preferable to means tested plans. We have to get away from segmenting Americans on essentials like healthcare and education. We provide them all to everyone. It benefits all Americans and it benefits our country.6 points

I was the president of the ‘never having kids lobbying group’. I have pissed off countless girlfriends mothers/grandmothers at Thanksgiving by- not just voicing my hatred for children, but my overall disgust with breeders in general. i have ditched some pretty amazing people because I didn’t want kids and they did. I was really on the fence with having kids now, but as I got to my internal ‘age limit’ of 37, I don’t know, I flinched. I thought ‘no matter the benefit of not having kids, the fact remains that I would be missing out in a huge part of the human experience. Additionally, I don’t have a lot of family and if I don’t have children it’s the end of 2 families and one name. While my decision may have been different if I had a ton of nieces and nephews, I have twin girls right now and I can honestly say it’s wonderful. It’s a love you can never experience otherwise. To each, their own.6 points

I am at a point now where I really don't think there is an obvious "elite" defensive coordinator in college football. Rule changes, and the rise of the spread as well as the proliferation of mobile quarterbacks have largely made defense a fucking nightmare to coordinate and call. The only real hope is to out-recruit and out-talent your opponent, and that is our best hope moving forward. We can play musical DC every fucking year or, despite what Paul Waddlington, Ian Boyd, and fucking 6th Street think they know about defense, realize we have a pretty good DC in Todd Orlando who had a bad fucking day against a team full of NFL players.6 points

Nothing much changes with Rice and Texas over the years. A thousand years ago on October 24, 1970, Texas played Rice in Houston. I was there, a goofy-ass Spalding Smails looking sophomore along with my shaggy haired Pythonesque roommates and my drop-dead gorgeous blonde girl friend all the way out from Alabama for the weekend. We had been to Bama vs. UH that afternoon at the world's smallest indoor stadium a/k/a the Astrodome. Rice Stadium was packed with 73,000 fans, about 3,000 of which were for Rice. People didn't go all apeshit wearing team colors in those days, but when the UT band struck up The Eyes, we found out really quick who was for whom. One of my roommates yelled out over The UT fans singing, "Shit! Y'all look, it's LBJ!" Sure enough, there he was, in what passed for a box seat in those days, high up on the 50 yard line on the side away from the press box. He wore a snow white Western cut suit and a huge white stetson. His hair was long and white, spilling way down over his coat's collar. When The Eyes ended, the P.A. guy introduced him to the crowd and he stood up again and waved the big stetson. He looked relaxed and happy. I think Lady Bird was there, but no one could see her. Then Rice ran back the opening kickoff for a fucking touchdown! We all went batshit because we knew that whatever else happened that night, we actually scored first on the mighty Longhorns. Final score, Texas 45-21. Bama had won earlier 30-21 over UH in front of a packed Dome (46,000). We were witness to Steve Wooster running roughshod over Rice players until they subbed for him. He was like a bull yearling running through a chicken yard. It was a great Saturday all around. That year Rice won the SWC in every sport except one. I married the gorgeous blonde in 1971 and she hasn't had me killed yet. Good luck Horns. Hope to see you in NOLA.6 points

I have fantastic insurance through my employer. The premium for myself and my family(wife and 3 kids) is paid 100% by my employer and the amount of my families deductible is put into an HSA for me at the beginning of every year. I literally have no out of pocket costs for medical expenses. BUT.... I support Medicare for All, and it's not something I'm willing to compromise on at all. Not because it will benefit me personally. In fact, it will most likely cost me and my family much more money. The reason I support MFA is because I know that 99% of Americans don't have anywhere near the coverage I have. Medicare for all will provide health insurance to all Americans. This is a moral issue for me. Our current system is immoral. It would be immoral for me to oppose something that would be life changing for millions of Americans because it might cost me a little more money.5 points

I'm 100% certain that the UT Facilities Department and the UT Athletics Department aren't going to release something that: 1) Is a lie 2) Is faked or tampered with 3) Doesn't confirm that the locker room temperature was within normal operating parameters I'm equally certain that LSU fans and coaches and players are: 1) Stupid 2) Liars 3) Fakers Glad that's all cleared up now.5 points
