  2. As the originator of this thread, I humbly offer the following. I promise, I'm not making this up. Wife calls me at work from the home land line. We still have a land line to run the closed captioning phone for her. Wife:. I'm calling you from the home number because I can't find my cell phone. I think I left out at Costco. Me:. You know you can find it. Just go get your laptop or iPad and I'll walk you thru it Wife:. Okay. Let me get my phone. (At this point, Hulla thinks, 'Surely she isn't going to go pick up her cell phone.....) Her:. Okay. Got my phone...... What do I......,.. Shit. Nevermind.

  3. Don't you get wrapped up in thinking it's all a simplistic good guys versus bad guys world. The final question is always, "does this action help or harm the long term interests of the US?" Shifting to an argument about good versus evil to justify idiocy is itself profoundly idiotic. Yet we do that all the time and keep blundering into conflicts that do us no good. By the way, the simplistic world view, we're not actually viewed as the good guys by the nations we bomb with impunity. People don't like having their countrymen chalked up to collateral damage in the furtherance of pristine US objectives. Further, I doubt these peoples are moved by our loud claim that killing somebody in another country with a drone strike is a "decisive defensive" action. Our foreign policy is too often cheap theater for the morons at home. Now we've put a moron in charge of the show.

  5. Or he was a really talented player that Texas didn’t properly utilize by scheme and didn’t get proper playing time. But I guess you’re saying his ability to succeed in the NFL but just be an OK back at Texas has nothing to do with Texas?

  9. Honestly, the possibility of @Iconoclast Texan getting deported or sent off to an internment camp is so delightful that it really has me rethinking the merits of the Trump Administration.

  11. First off, trump isn't arming Ukraine. Congress is through legislative action. Secondly, he illegally withheld aid that was apportioned by Congress. But points for bad faith arguments. Yes, he sold out our allies who fought Isis for us to give an unreciprocated favor to a borderline dictator who's bodyguard beat up dozens of peaceful protestors in the US two years ago. He ordered a strike against a chief military commander of a sovereign nation at a civilian airport, an overt act of war, without congressional approval or declaration of war. The resulting spike in oil prices have been a huge boon to the Russian economy, which is primarily reliant on oil. Furthermore, Russia Iran and China were conducting joint naval exercises last week so I really doubt that killing a top man is going to endanger that alliance. Nice attempt to muddy the waters by implying that Russia has absolute control over Iran. Trump attacking Iran is an attempt to change the subject from the impeachment and his administration disregard for oversight and accountability to the people.

  12. My wife refuses to acknowledge that turning the AC control to this symbol with the air blowing on full blast won't make the heat come on faster. I have even showed her repeatedly that when the glass is fogged & I flip it to this setting, the fog goes away... & when I turn it back to the dash vents, the fog will reappear. But repeatedly, without fail, I can get into her Tahoe & find the diverter pushed to this setting. & Every time I explain it to her again, she calls me an asshole that "always has to be right.". So I push the envelope & respond with "Well, for someone to be right then apparently the other person is wrong.". That doesn't go over well, but I sure as fuck do enjoy having her recognize that she just admitted she was wrong.

  16. Holy fuck balls. Two things: The Vikings won a game they seemed destined to give away as is their destiny, and If you're calling Rudolph's hand fighting move in the endzone offensive PI then Michael Irvin would retroactively have 19 total receptions in his career Saints fans are entering tinfoil hat zone at this point. Brees had a rough day. Hill was your offense. Thomas and Harris were stymied. Man up & play the game.

  18. This is beyond fucked up as have most things carried out by the CBP under Trump. With that said, if a certain Iranian Surly poster who has been a cheerleader for ICE gets rounded up, well that would be fucking hilarious. It would be like Tom Parsons from 1984 who was a diehard party loyalist remaining faithful to Big Brother as he is hauled off to a forced labor camp.

  20. Yeah. You’re missing how shitty the roster was when he took over. They can’t beat good teams this year because they’re at a huge talent disadvantage, unlike Texas. If their talent was anywhere near OU’s in that CCG, they would’ve won the conference this year. So yeah, most of their performance was due to good coaching making up for a lack of talent. Rhule can coach, and he’s absolutely a better coach than Herman so far. It’s not even close.

  21. These coordinator hires seem promising, but I still need to know who he’s going to hire to tell him how to manage the game clock & game situations. Our HC is still the idiot that thought he could run the game clock out with 3 minutes left and the other team having 3 time outs.

  23. This is the type of bullshit that I get tired of. Why do one of you fuckboys always have an incessant need to take it here? Regardless of what hindsight investigation drums out 5 years later the prevailing view at the time was that he was a hot commodity who everyone with an open job was going after. What tha fuck does that have to do with PC culture. This trash ass, revisionist view to that every black person only gets his job because of some sort of make good is complete and utter bullshit.

  24. Just busting your balls. By your standards the whole city council thread should be in CR. Since you can rail on libs in it and it’s fine. But the minute anyone uses the word “conservative” in a way that clinches your vaginatic sensibilities, you cry to the moderators and neg like a victorian princess with the vapors. But you be you.

  27. I actually asked @Iconoclast Texan how he would feel when Trumpkins started rounding up Americans of Iranian descent because they’re brown and he said “I’ll happily live in an internment camp if it means a more secure country.” So I’m really hopeful that ends up happening and he’s water boarded until he confesses how the ass takes the length.

  30. Man. I'm going to feel so sorry for them.....Not....Fuck them. Not even going to mention getting burned by Thielen a few plays before? Or how about how terrible they played for 3 quarters on offense? Brees' 2 turnovers? Same as last year. Completely ignore the entire game and blame it on one single call. It's how their fans operate.

  32. I assume you are referring to the 15 year old executive order 13382. This was an executive order which designated several individuals, organizations, and banks for "providing support for terrorists." It was out of the treasury department, and was sanctioning individuals, not claiming that we would kill them on sight. Government Fact sheet on it has this quote. This is very similar to numerous Treasury sanctions which have targeted many people across the globe, including Putin's allies. We aren't going to kill any of them whenever an opportunity presents itself. The FBI maintains a list of most wanted terrorists. Suliemani was not on it. If you review some of those terrorists, you may be able to understand there is a difference between hostile government officials who we typically sanction, and actual wanted terrorists we would take immediate actions to kill or detain, given the opportunity. Suliemani was in Iraq on the invitation of their prime minister in order to help diffuse tensions, and we assassinated him. Stop normalizing this shit. As far as plater charges, we lost 12 servicemen in Iraq in 2019. 8 of them were to non-hostile incidents, one to small arms fire, and three to suicide bomber. The only reason to worry about Iran supplying weapons in Iraq is if there was an escalation, or as an excuse for revenge. Revenge is completely idiotic, particularly in a region that we invaded on false pretenses. Genocide would be the only way to end the conflict if we are basing our policies on revenge from the last 20 years. Edit - looking at the website closer, in IRAQ itself, we lost four troops in 2019, one of them to small arms fire. The site was listing folks in Syria, Kuwait, SA, and even Germany.

  37. Saw it tonight at Alamo - Lakeline. Absolutely fucking loved it. Came home to do some internet browsing only to discover a world of online hate. Holy hell. I think my expectations were suitably low enough that I was surprized by how damn entertained I was for the two hours or whatever. I drank beer. I ate loaded fries. I had a good damn time. Got a little misty-eyed when Luke's X-Wing rose from the ocean (and maybe a couple other times!). I thought it was a solid wrap-up. Of course, when I see the very real and legitimate criticisms, I can't help but internally agree. But, you know, fuck it -- I enjoyed the hell out of that movie.

  39. But what in God's name makes you think that any of this gives you any more insight to the Geo-political correctness of taking out this guy? It's like saying that there were Mexican criminals in Tijuana in the 80s, and your cousin fought them. That some drug traffickers tried to take out your mom in 1992 in Montana. Your father worked high up DEA in California in the late 1980s. And you are about to have lunch with your Mexican interpreter. As to your mind meld as to why they killed your guys, maybe they did not like the folks who have been hanging out in their country after invading it almost 20 years ago, or they are annoyed we drone strike killed their family at wedding by mistake. Point is, none of the similar stories above is going to change my mind about the absurdity of the Trump border wall, despite a similar story about your cuz and mom and dad and some interpreter and Mexico. Because their are lots of really good reasons not to build it, despite the above. So other than being justifiably red-assed about "them" trying to kill mama, why is this current escalation a good thing? Because for all that band-width, it said nothing about why the recent attack is good for our troops, or our country, or our never ending drunken sailor spending asses throwing more money at more middle eastern war shit.
