  2. And this is why it’s impossible to have any meaningful discussions in this country now. Brees expressed his opinion in a manner that seemed to me to be completely reasonable without resorting to name calling. He also provided his reasoning behind his opinion. The timing may be insensitive, and you and I may completely disagree with him, but your response expressed quite well why the political system in this country is completely broken.

  3. Stated by someone else on the board recently and I'll mirror that response. As a former conservative republican I will never vote for the republican party again until every last republican enabler has left office. I've made the decision to embrace the democratic party and will work to help support those democratic candidates that can make a difference improving our country. Every republican in office today, especially on the federal level is complicit in enabling Trump and the destruction we now see. There is no way to reinvent the GOP with the people that currently hold power.

  7. I agree with all of these ideas. Let's make them happen in the next administration. Well, let's see: * Voting Democratic * Donating to Democratic candidates. * Donating to various social-justice charities, including the ACLU, Legal Aid of North Texas, the Voto Latino Foundation, and RAICES-Texas. * Providing pro bono legal services to a number of clients. * Actively recruiting diverse candidates for our law firm. * A whole bunch of other shit that I can't talk about on this board. Oh, and don't even ask about what @Brisketexan is doing. I know he's talked about some of it on this board previously. But even so, I won't presume. But let it suffice to say that he got to see a pretty great milestone this morning with respect to one of the ways he's making a difference. So, respectfully, lick my taint, fuckface.

  11. One of my dearest friends from college began having symptoms on Thursday, was admitted to the hospital with severe shortness of breath and a high fever on Saturday and was confirmed positive on Sunday. He coded on Sunday and has been on a ventilator since and it took 27 minutes to resuscitate him. He had a brain scan today and the results were not promising. I just spoke to his wife and he is in kidney and liver failure and she was told to begin preparing their 15 year old daughter. 48 years old. Probably 20-30 pounds overweight but otherwise healthy. I am absolutely devastated. His wife and I work together so our whole department and our families had to get tested today.

  16. Why would I take the issue of racism and violence of the state committed against both innocents and on a disproportionately racist matter personally? Let's see... 1) I am a human being, who believes that all human beings are children of God who should be treated with respect and compassion. I think that's quite enough. But there's more..... 2) I am a Christian, and I am called to be God's hands here on earth. And if 1 member of His flock is in peril, as His hands here on earth, it is my duty to find and protect that member of the flock. But there's more.... 3) I am a member of the bar. I wanted to be one since I was 9 years old. I have a deeply ingrained sense of justice. And I took an oath to support the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Texas. I take my oath seriously. Those are the big three. There's plenty more. A vehicle bearing the red cross was used as an offensive weapon. That is a violation of the Geneva Convention (I believe Protocol II). Note that the Geneva Conventions, of which we ARE a signatory to all relevant portions (we signed Protocol II, although we have not finally ratified it) applies in both foreign and domestic conflicts.

  26. There should be a long chain of motherfuckers getting chaptered over this. The pilots, their commander, and whoever made the call to bring that aircraft on site. I would guess whoever decided to do this wasn't someone in the military chain of command, because they wouldn't send a fucking Lukota as any kind of psyop. The rotor wash from that thing is about as bad as a big shop fan. If that helicopter had an emergency you would have a bunch of people dead. If someone decided to pop a couple of rounds at the aircraft (assuming like most CONUS birds, they arent flying around with BAPS) you could have a bunch of people dead. Just a mind bogglingly stupid thing to do.

  27. No, fuck you man. Guy spams the board with Laura Ingrahm, Andy Ngo, Jack Poseibic and Tucker Carlson. 32. People can be on either side of the riot vs. protest debate, within a certain level of reasonable understanding. I can even understand (to a degree) the folks who are perfectly fine using pro-active force to clear streets because there have been days of riots and at some level the rubber meets the road. That isn't personally my belief, but I can see where others might believe that. Lots of governors and mayors have set bad curfew times, and haven't been perfectly clear in responsible ways to communicate to the protesters what is going to happen and when. Fine. But this shit yesterday is indefensible and beyond the pale, and people like Icono are just willful wrongheaded fascists reveling in shows of power and strength because they're sick people (his words, not mine). The protesters were peaceful. They were asked to move, despite it being nowhere near curfew, despite being peaceful, and when they didn't disperse they were gassed and peppered with concussion grenades. That's bullshit, it's a breach of the constitution. But what is really indefensible, and what even Icono and like minded folks can't gloss over, much less address with their "but but it was violent yesterday" prattling bullshit is that all of this was done so the President could could walk across the street for a photo op. And an insincere one at that. THE REASONS AND CHOICES THAT LED TO THIS EVENT MATTER. It wasn't dispersing a violent crowd. It wasn't to get to a trapped person in need of help. It was for a fucking picture. The motivation for the incident is 50x more heinous than the action itself, and the action is pretty fucking deplorable. I don't care what side of the political spectrum you tilt towards, the man gassed and forcibly removed demonstrators for a completely unnecessary photo op. That was his choice. He chose to do that to US citizens to sate whatever need he felt he had to walk across the street and take a picture at a church. He could have waited a day, and given more notice. He didn't even call the people at the church. If it was prayer he could have chosen a different venue. If it was some display, as president, there are thousands of other photo ops he could have constructed and executed on that didn't involve terrorizing his own citizens who are flexing their constitutional rights. So many other choices or opportunities, and he chose to attack his own citizens. That isn't leadership. And honestly, thats not what America needs. It needs common ground and respect and healing, and compromise, and that is the epitome of non compromise. That is brute force to get what you want. It's against everything that a democratic republic is supposed to be, and it just galvanizes folks on both sides into a negative collision course. This isn't how we should treat people, period, and the leader of our country providing an example of choosing to embrace violence as opposed to try and de-escalate is just keeping people in their own foxholes and helps fix nothing in this country. If two cars were blocking a street would you ram them with your car, because they're in your way, or would you find another route? If you rammed them, do you reasonably think you wouldn't be the one arrested? Would you treat your neighbor this way? I assume the answer is no, but if the answer is Yes, then I hope you never have a neighbor like you. We need to do better as people. We have to. And we need to look to ourselves to be the example because none of our political leaders are clearly setting one themselves. Just be nice to each other.

  33. Snow dog is the kind of dick that’s usually causing all the traffic problems. He thinks he knows better than everyone else and tries to live out some weird traffic enforcement fantasy by Cutting off trucks and brake checking which causes everyone else to slow down or won’t let trucks change lanes by speeding up to block them. And all kinds of other douche bag behavior. Also you stupid fuck. There were 4 of us in the left lane that day all the way through town. And each one of us had a permit from TXDOT requiring us to be in that lane. So sit down and shut up and let the grown men go about their business.

  38. Did you miss the part where our most stalwart allies in the war against ISIS and al Qa'ida in Mesopotamia were the Kurds (right up until Donald Trump betrayed them to the Syrians and Russians)? To exactly what religion do you think the Kurds adhere? Well, a cop chose to become a cop and every day chooses to remain a cop. So that's a pretty fucking big difference right there. Honestly, Spanky--when did you become this stupid and/or racist?

  39. That would be great if such discussions could happen. My biggest issue with the CR style posting bleeding over into DT is the absolute insistence that someone knows what your beliefs are and tries to continuously make their point over and over to “prove they are right” about your opinion. In the CR it’s obvious what side you are on if you post there frequently. Obvious. Saying you aren’t with the looters is a perfect example: 1. As soon as the looting and real destructive stuff started and some posted that it was counterproductive and not a good thing: “Y’all are pearl clutchers! Let it burn! It deserves to burn! Fuck the police! You don’t care about what is happening now! It’s just property and is insured. Fucking whiners!” 2. After several days of rioting and looting: “Its from out of town. Out of state. (It looks bad now for those legit protesting so we must figure out how to blame this on something else). These people aren’t thugs! They are disenfranchised and being taken advantage of by the system. Fuck all of you still mentioning the riots!” 3. more days of riots and looting (now people have been injured and killed as we are seeing now) “stay home! Abide by the curfew so we can separate between the anarchists/ instigators and the protestors. These people aren’t thugs it is the people posting here who don’t fucking get it.” Even though many have said they understand why it’s happening they are told they do not. Will never understand. 4. More riots and looting and destruction: “where are the police? Fuck them! But why aren’t they arresting people? Abide by the curfew. Those thugs aren’t protestors!” so it went from explaining why the riots and looting happened and they aren’t thugs and basically telling anyone who disagreed that riots and looting sucks are assholes to now riots solve nothing. It went from those people aren’t thugs to now they are thugs and where are the police? it helps me to read to sleep at night because like a lot of people I have a lot on my angst. Lots of regrets and lots of frustration. If you read back through the Minneapolis thread it’s pretty enlightening. if you can follow that. Points! For you! That was like my fifth draft of that shit over two days and I gave up. It’s obvious.

  40. Yeah. Fuck you, you're a piece of shit. The president is OUR fucking employee. Our freedoms are the whole point of this fucking country, and having a leader in charge who tramples on it at his fucking whim to show strength, is literally the fucking opposite of what a democratic republic is supposed to be about. Him looking powerful is the mentality and acts of authoritarian dictatorships. It's china running tanks over their citizens, it's putin on a fucking horse bare chested. The point of his office is to protect our freedoms not HIM being able to look powerful. Fuck you, and fuck your backwards ass fascist view of life in the country and the value of human life in general. I wish you'd go back to mainlining meth and dicks because at least then the only person you were hurting was yourself and your ex wife. Ever since you adopted Jesus and Fascism your viewpoints have a much greater chance of hurting the other people in this country. My issue is all of it. My issue is his show of force, my issue is the motivation for his show of force, and my issue is what that says about his decision making and his value for US citizens and their constitutional and human rights. Things you wipe your fucking ass with, so I don't expect you to fucking understand. Meanwhile the irony of you wringing your fucking hands a few weeks ago about not being allowed to show up and go to church and your free right to assemble as a Christian is looking pretty fucking ironic right about now, not that you'd recognize the hypocrisy there. You were apoplectic about the restrictions being enacted then on your "freedoms" even though they were putting the lives of others at risk. I wonder how you'd have felt if a local constable had decided to break up a church gathering by tear gassing a congregation that was gathering against shelter in place orders. You'd have lost your fucking mind. But this? Yeah, doesn't even register to you because Freedom doesn't mean shit to you as a construct unless it's your personal preferences being stifled. The safety and lives of others so Trump can get a selfie though? Fuck those losers. /Icono.
