Got two new voters registered today! My daughter turned 18 the week before moving to college and with all of that going on, she forgot to register here. So she went and registered in Auburn today. Which will actually work out better because she can vote in person there and not have to fool with Alabama’s horrible absentee voting rules. And I helped her boyfriend get registered and get his absentee ballot to vote in North Carolina. He was able to do it all online, which is great. Plus, NC is obviously more crucial than Alabama. He was apathetic and leaned conservative because of his family’s politics but he’s been converted by my daughter lol. He joined the College Democrats with her and they have been phone banking for Doug Jones. Undefeated.17 points

I better not see one more person on this board ever give Romney any credit the next time he posts a tweet about be disappointed or concerned with Trump’s behavior. I’ve said it about all these spineless motherfuckers - talk don’t mean jack shit when they still fall in line when they have the opportunity to actually do something concrete. He’s just as bad as Graham and McConnell and all the rest of the enabling shitfucks. He may as well get a MAGA face tattoo because his victim noises are just another form of grifting and attention whoring. Fuck him. Fuck his stupid hair. Fuck his 54 kids. Fuck his magic underwear. He had a chance to back up the words he’s been spewing and he decided to bend the knee instead. Eat all the shit, Mitt.16 points

Look on social media and you will also see conflicting reports on whether or not the Earth is a sphere and NASA actually landed men on the moon. So yes there are two sides to everything because this is America and the vast majority of people are dumbasses15 points

Whelp, I'm doing my part: Boy #1, freshmen at Trinity, is now a registered voter in the state of Texas.14 points

If you're a Trump supporter then the objective, unbiased middle is far-left from your perspective. If you're not biased for their candidate then you must be biased against their candidate.12 points

The best part of this is this dumb fuck doesn’t understand that if he splits up Texas (and probably Florida) he’s actually adding blue senators. Hey dipshit, what happens to any “states” that have houston or Dallas or Austin (or all of them together) with a subsection or rural areas? It’s a big ass blue state. And they’ll all have the most electoral college votes because those are determined by population you colossally stupid motherfucker.11 points

It might be petty, it’s certainly not healthy, but I want to destroy this man. Not just politically, but I want him curled up in the fetal position on his bathroom floor wondering where his life went wrong. He is the epitome of everything that is wrong with politics in this country and he deserves to spend the rest of his sad, lonely life in agony.11 points

Not sure where to put this because I didn't cook this. But you need to check out this fucking taco. From a food truck called Sabor Tapatio on Stassney and S. Congress. They specialize in Jalisco-style Birria Barbacoa tacos. Wrapped in two corn tortillas and lightly fried on the outside, with a cheese hinge, served with a cup of consomme for dipping. Holy shit.10 points

And all I'm proposing is to do the same. Every single thing I proposed is within the rules, completely legal, and completely within the constitutional authority of Congress and the president. Why are you worried? I thought that you LIKED following the rules, and that does NOT equal "might makes right," right? I presume then that you'll be just fine when the Dems do exactly what I proposed -- which, again, is completely within the rules. Right?10 points

It's the most fucking Democrat thing ever to, after the past 20 years of GOP behavior, still think there is some good reason to moderate our strategy and leave control of the country in the hands of motherfucking John Roberts. A guy who has spent his life helping deny black people the vote. A guy who thinks your political donations and my political donations can be limited but Charles Koch's can't. A guy who thinks Christian business owners deserve a special exemption from being forced to compensate their employees. Him being on the court is the embodiment of the problem and Democrats are like "no we don't want to add too many seats and I trust him to side with us 10% of the time!"10 points

It really is a fascinating state. all the people in power are racist white assholes. The suburbs in Georgia resemble the rest of the country, basically they have also rejected the GOP. Seemingly every young person who registers to vote now a days in Georgia is a minority. Tons of intelligent people moving in from other states for jobs. These people are turned off by Kemp and his racist GOP jargon. the racists are doing everything they can to keep the state red, but it’s only a matter of time. I think they’re fucked by 2022 and definitely 2024 at the latest. i say this as a white man. Kemp and everyone around him is pure scum. Racist sons of bitches.10 points

Let's be clear: the travesty is not that Trump and McConnell are trying to push this nomination through in record time. The travesty is that Merrick Garland never got his fair shot. The irony is that Obama selected Garland specifically because he had broad appeal on both sides of the aisle. History may eventually show that McConnell made a grave tactical error.9 points

Expanding the court by itself is a temporary bandaid unless we fix the underlying problem of the inherent tilt in favor of the rural/“conservative” class. First step is to add DC/PR (assuming PR would accept) and expanding the number of reps (including giving reps to the other US territories not large enough to be states). Step 2 is expanding the court to 13. Step 3 is killing the filibuster. Step 4 is passing a new voting rights act. The EC obviously also needs to be killed, but that will require more votes. As has been mentioned, we cannot allow ourselves to continue to be ruled by a minority of the population grasping for power.9 points

There is ALWAYS an "upcoming election" whenever there is a divided government. So, the standard really is.....if the Senate is controlled by the opposition party, no SCOTUS justice can be appointed unless and until the president's party retakes the Senate in the next election. That's the rule. It's winner-take-all. Knowing the rule now, the Dems need to follow it: 1 -- win both the White House and Senate 2 -- take everything you want. Everything. All of it.9 points

Donated to a political campaign for the first time ever. Steve Bullock, Alan Gross, Theresa Greenfield, Jaime Harrison, Mike Espy, and even Doug Jones (mostly cause of Bama Chick) got some money. I don’t think my contributions are going to put anyone over the line, but it just makes me feel better to think maybe, just maybe, I had a little to do with these GOP assholes going down.9 points

Something like "I am currently not in support of it, but we will wait and see what the President and Senate Republicans do in the coming weeks. We will see if they go by the rules they set for our country 4 years ago or go back on their word. If they go back on their word from 4 years ago, we will take another look at it." Put it back on them first and remind everyone of their hypocrisy.8 points

All along, from the time Trump announced his candidacy in 2015, I have assumed that at some point people would come to their senses. In 2015-2016, I was convinced that there was zero chance all the rural folks who form the base of the GOP would fully rally behind a Manhattan rich boy draft dodger who has myriad bankruptcies and marital infidelities on his resume. Then as it became apparent that was exactly what was happening, I assumed the power structure of the GOP would prevent him from actually getting the nomination. Once he was nominated, I was certain that Clinton would win in a Reagan-Mondale fashion, that there was no way any moderates or independents would vote for someone so obviously racist, sexist, and unfit. I was in utter disbelief when he won. All that is to say, these encouraging poll numbers may be a sign of what we all have thought was inevitable. It is possible that Biden is on track for 400 EV in a shining moment in American history where we roundly dismiss the ideology we’ve been subject to for the last 4 years. But FUCK THAT. None of those chickens will be counted. Not now. Not on Election Day. Not even if Biden is sworn in. Those chickens can be counted when Donald Trump is dead and when his legacy is as a universally reviled figure who represented the death rattle of the worst group of Americans in history.8 points

2 Caden Sterns, S, Cibolo Steele Class: 2018 I'll never forget that weekend. I believe most of the staff was out of town, but Craig Naivar hung around just in case a four-star safety from down the road made his secret journey to UT's campus. When he arrived, Texas could not have done a better job with the LSU pledge. Less than 24 hours later, and I was preparing a commit story that would rock this region. It was one of Herman's first big scores on the Forty Acres, and it also contributed to the massive 2018 momentum that cultivated into a top three recruiting class.- JW I know that Ewers is a bigger deal, but I almost want to put this at #1 for the Leon O'Neal butthurt it inspired.7 points

Miller Lite at the 2015 Masters with my dad. He never thought he’d go to the tournament. The wife was gifted tickets by a friend and she immediately suggested dad should take her place. Got a bit dusty sipping a beer and downing a pimento cheese as we walked past the leaderboard and to the first tee on Friday morning. Mom calls every year now to let me know he’s tearing up when the first commercial and Augusta theme is playing.7 points

Yes.....which is entirely within the rules, no new rules need to be made. Congress and the POTUS have the full constitutional and legal authority to change the number of SCOTUS justices. The problem with engaging in shitbaggery with a defense of "hey, what we're doing is allowed by the rules" is that you open yourself up to reciprocal shitbaggery that is also "allowed by the rules." Admitting a new state (DC), changing the number of reps in the House, changing the number of justices on the SCOTUS.....all COMPLETELY allowed by the rules. No new rules necessary to do all of those things. And this is the real rub here. Is it, at least objectively, a good idea that gives the minority voice/party some power? I expect that most people would say "yes.' Is it a problem when the political minority (seriously, more voters on the Federal level voted for the opposition (majority) party in 2016, and that skewed even MORE towards the majority party in 2018) doesn't just assert some power, but exercises it with arrogance and contempt for the opposition -- the MAJORITY opposition? Fuck yeah, it's a problem. It's how you break a country. The GOP is the minority political party -- it's not even close in terms of votes on a national level. Human beings have a pretty strong innate sense of fairness. And that sense of fairness means that by and large, they expect the will of the majority to govern. These days, not only does the will of the majority not govern, the will of the majority is being shat upon with complete arrogance and contempt by the minority party. That helps create an angry and energized majority party. That's not a good or healthy outcome. A minority party that happens to find itself in power should, if wise, exercise its power judiciously and with some measure of moderation. I mean, not only do they NOT have a popular mandate, they actually have a mandate AGAINST them, they are just in power by quirk of some elements of the system that were intended to protect the minority -- not to make the minority an all-powerful god. There is no greater recipe for "dividing a country" than a minority party/group arrogantly lording power over the majority. Shit like that, at its extreme, looks like apartheid. It looks like Rwanda when the elite (but minority) tutsis lost power, and the shat-upon majority hutus decided to get some. Human nature tells us that a minority group in power that abuses its power and shows contempt for the majority will set up a major reckoning. The GOP gives zero shits about that. EDIT: By way of illustration....62% of the people believe that the next election winner should fill the seat. 62-38, in political terms, is a "landslide." A minority party that submits brazen F U after brazen F U to the will of the people is poisoning the system.6 points

Jesus. Breakfast tacos and kolaches are all we have to keep us going. Even those have been taken away by Covid. The first time (post lockdown) someone brought us breakfast a few weeks ago, people just kind of stared at it for a while. "Is it safe" kind of deer in the headlights. Then the engineers caught wind. "Mmm...Free Food..."6 points

It's already been once. But once he's out of office, those Supreme Court "defenses" go away. The alarming thing about the FinCEN, SAR stuff is that the government has barely lifted a finger with all that evidence. Too busy with Human Trafficking!!!1111!!!!!111 I guess.6 points
