  1. @WinningIsHard is correct, Ashli Babbit shouldn’t have been killed. Which is to say, the former President and those around him shouldn’t have tried to raise an insurrection against the President elect. Ashli Babbit shouldn’t have allowed herself to fall under their criminal and treasonous influence. She shouldn’t have crossed police barricades and entered the capitol with a mob. She shouldn’t have been trying to use violence to break through a police barricaded door to get to members of congress to force them to end the lawful electoral process and peaceful transition of power. That she was killed happened because she and others made those awful choices well before Michael Byrd carried out his duty to defend the Republic. Fuck around. You’ll find out.

  3. Yeah, it's a day early, but fuck it. I just bought tix 10 mins ago as I decided to cough up my season seats this year. And bought tix for LSU next week. If I don't kick the habit, I may have made a terrible mistake. Bruins return 10 starters on each side of the ball. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson is in his 4th year as starter (although split starts as a freshman). Chip Kelly is 10-21 thorough his first 3 seasons. Bruins SHOULD be vastly improved, but have underachieved so massively under Kelly it's hard to get excited. BUT IT'S TIME FOR FOOTBALL, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First live game in 2 years. Let's go!!!

  8. Bill Clinton is a piece of shit sexual harasser, and likely has committed multiple acts of sexual assault. Donald Trump is a piece of shit sexual harasser, and likely has committed multiple acts of sexual assault. Donald Trump is the worst president of the modern era, and likely the history of the country. The damage he has done is immeasurable. 10 months after an election he lost, he continues to hold rallies and send communications to millions of Americans telling them that he is the rightful president and that enemies of the state are in power. He leads them in chants to imprison his political opponents. His words have directly inspired multiple terrorist attacks. Anyone who supports him can get fucked. Can we move on now?

  9. Well, a tempest in a teapot of my medium sized RGV town. After a spike in COVID following the first week of school, the board rolled out a mask requirement. Of course, a subset of parents (and not parents) flipped out. From what I can tell, in this approximately 90 percent Mexican-American district it’s gringos making about 90 percent of the noise on this. Many are upset because the board had a closed session and not an open one with a chance to comment. Because as we see on YouTube, those are productive. White people, try not to be crazy.

  11. Since @Ricky's one-hitter has called me out for Westlake "sunshine-pumping," here is my 100% sunshine-pumping-free review of last night's 54-13 thriller w Temple. Last night, the winless Westlake Chaps traveled to Temple to face the mighty Wildcats. Temple, coming off a district crown, returned many of their best players and it showed! Temple started strong and dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage, basically having their way against the hapless Chaps. By the half, it was clear they were the superior side and their 31-3 deficit was much closer than the score would seem to indicate. The second half was entirely dominated by the Wildcats, as the Chaps were unable to sustain meaningful drives, and accidentally scored on lucky touchdown passes. Mounting a spirited comeback, the Wildcats closed the gap to 54-6. Temple finished the game in the last minute with a long TD run, as a defeated-looking Westlake had to resort to using 3rd string players. Escaping with a moral-victory 54-13 win, Westlake will have to regroup and try to salvage their season as best possible.

  13. I refuse to believe they could not have found a better QB…their defense isn’t bad. If their QB actually was a legit QB they won this game easily.

  23. These posts aren't aligned. This AP article which you use to support your initial allegation that "the media was accusing Desantis of promoting and unsafe and proven drug" isn't supported here. The article is pointing out the conflict of interest in Desantis' motivations considering how reckless he's been over COVID safety measures and vaccine protocols, but says nothing of Rengeneron being unsafe or unproven. Rengeneron can be an effective treatment..... but a wholly expensive one when such an obvious alternative exists. Again, prevention should probably have been the primary and initial goal, but Desantis has so wholly fucked this chicken that shit, might as well profit on his failure.

  24. The right wing declared war on science long ago. We got our asses kicked, before most of us realized we were in a fight. Now they've declared war on reality. We are once again, getting our asses kicked. Disinformation is killing people all across the country, but most still don't realize it's an existential fight between facts and alternative facts. Reality isn't political. Science isn't political. Facts are facts and alternative facts are lies, or at best, distortions. If we keep catering to these motherfuckers, we will be in an ever increasing dystopian nightmare.

  26. We may do a memorial (and should). But the fact is that Afghanistan and Iraq were mostly abstractions for most of America. No one was yanked against their will off the high school graduation stage and sent there only to come back under a flag or injured for life. Unless you were in military service or a civilian dispatched there, Afghanistan was something that happened on tv to people you didn’t know. The massive “honor the troops” movement is in some ways a sterile overcompensation for the fact that most people don’t know any troops or even civilians in these areas and what they go through. I am not someone who thinks we need to ditch our effective, professional all-volunteer military but there are cultural and societal costs to making war a profession and not national effort. In policy and military circles? Afghanistan will resonate painfully immediately and long-term. The airlift we’ve pulled off, for example, will be taught at the War Colleges.
