Thread cleanse. I just want to point out how great Jamaal freakin' Charles was against Ohio State on this one play in 2005. Watch closely. Vince drops back to pass but the protection breaks down. Vince is in trouble. Suddenly he sees Jamaal and tries to throw it to him but misses pretty badly on account of the Ohio State player draped all over him. A.J. Hawk intercepts. Jamaal dives at Hawk's feet and misses the tackle. At that exact moment it looked like Hawk would score. But Jamaal picks himself off the carpet in a split second and gives chase. He winds his way through traffic, HURDLES a guy, and takes Hawk down at the 17. The intended target ended up making the tackle 23 yards down the field. The defense did its job and Ohio State had to settle for a field goal after that huge momentum swing. Jamaal was a freshman. It was his second game and it was at Ohio State. The shoe. At night. You can't teach what Jamaal does here. It's all instinct and it happens so fast. I'll bet Jamaal didn't even have time to think about it while it was happening.31 points

Bobby and Gerry are the best we have, and both protect the program from stupidity to some extent. Gerry is the best recruiting guy in the business and is nationally recognized. Burn down the rest of the media room with everyone else inside.Wells also gets a pass.19 points

This makes so little sense it would fit in our now satirical Twitter timeline. Be better. Also Surly (collectively) has the most insider access out of all the sites, we have the most relationships directly into the program and we have the most reliable sources. Yet, we aren't in the "business" of breaking stories so we never do.18 points

You must not know anything about Bobby's history. He's made plenty of money in the 9.95 world. Yes, even Bobby's services gets information wrong, but this dude has been a positive for Texas sports in myriad ways for years. Not to mention, he actually gives a shit about Texas Athletics.14 points

Bobby has made much more money than some low to medium level scout in the NFL. So that's kind of stupid.14 points

I think this is on point. When my MIL was on her last legs, in a home, they had this dinner where a bunch of old dudes showed up. These are folks who had lived through the depression, and when they were all very young, most had been involved in some new deal project or the war. The common experience to me is what made them have an esprit de corps and an empathy towards each other that I think some of prior posts were alluding to. The key to me isn't so much that people are expressing so much assholeness. The key is that we are continuing to loss common experience of education and service. My plan to make every generation a good generation would be to: a) make public schools truly competitive so that people weren't always trying to escape to private schools. I actually went to a public high school that was all around just better than the parochial alternatives. b) more important, we do need two years of national service after high school. You could fulfill it in lots of ways - military, park service, etc. It would include classes on finance, budgeting, civics, all that sort of things that could go into making someone a good citizen. It could very well suck but it would involve a common period of service to the nation or community. But most important, it would be a common experience that would link people of diverse social strata. That's not happening today.13 points

I’ve seen this a few times now lately. You can have this opinion because this is America but you should keep this shit to yourself. 90% (probably) of this board doesn’t agree with this take because it sucks, and that leads people to wondering if the rest of your takes suck. This is what pulling the bookshelf down on yourself looks like live. I’m speaking from experience here man haha12 points

I didnt know what to expect going into or Psycho set. I figured it would either be a room full of metalheads hungry for the weekend, or an empty room as people rested up in anticipation. What we got was somewhere in between. They didn't open the room we played until 6, which is exactly when we went on. So we opened to a fairly empty room, but it slowly filled during our set. People without tickets stood outside the entrance and watched from the casino floor. All in all I think we did what we were invited to come here and do, warm up a stage, and I think we'll be invited back. That room never got more full than we had it that evening until Cancer Christ closed it. Cancer Christ is an incredible act btw. Several people have approached me and said they liked our set, our Facebook page grew a lot this weekend, and I'm told we sold some merch - I have no idea how much. Otherwise, the Psycho promoters have treated us extremely well and I'm so spoiled i dont know if I can ever go to another festival without an Artist pass. Everywhere there's a line there's also an Artist entrance without one, including metal detectors and bathrooms. Every crowded stage has an Artist / VIP area you can view from - most even have seating. People see the artist pass and come ask about your band, including what i assume to be groupies. Also, some of the best bands have been on the smaller stages and some of the headliners have disappointed (I'm looking at you Suicidal Tendancies!). One of the best acts I saw was Mothership from Louisiana (I believe), that dude on spakle V is super talented and even more entertaining. 100% Rock and Roll. We've partied pretty hard since Thursday. Today I'm just resting up in the room to get ready for Mercyful Fate tonight and back to the real world tomorrow. /csb9 points

I feel like Ketch, Anwar, Chip, Kirk, and Brian Davis all fall into the same category; highly selfish dudes who will throw the program under the bus at the drop of a hat in order to get attention. I actually like Gerry. His takes are good. IDGAF if he faps.9 points

Bingo. And there is no better example of this than DOTUS himself. Look at what he calls "the Art of the Deal" -- it's shit like agreeing to a contract with a cabinet installer, then when he's done $500k worth of work, stiffing him, using his cash-poor position as leverage to make him agree to take a lesser amount. The Trump-worshippers call this a huge win, see how brilliant he is? Nevermind that 1) that has no fucking honor or integrity or respect for the rule of law and contract and 2) shits on any notion of being a member of a larger community where we all benefit from dealing honestly and fairly with each other -- it's just fucking short-sighted. You aren't going to get good bids for future work when you treat all of your contractors that way. I have dealt with fights in that field. The smart players realize that in a community (say, a city like Austin), you are going to have the same contractors and subs putting in bids on future contracts, because there are only so many who are qualified to work on big projects. If you burn one, you burn a bridge....because even competitors talk. "Be careful bidding on that Jackhole Inc. project -- he'll stiff you. Get paid up front, or don't take the job." Our entire system -- social, business, and political -- depends on a baseline of good faith and integrity. When that goes away, it ALL falls apart. Don't fuck people over. Don't be a dick. We are ALL (including you) better off for it in the long run. But nope, it's all "me me me" and "now now now" and no thought about the bigger repercussions for everyone including you. It's a complete breakdown.....and half of our society fucking CHEERS IT ON AS "WINNING." It's suicidal.9 points

I’m pretty sick of the Card, Ewers controversy. I think it was pretty obvious last year that Sark was looking for a new QB. So when Ewers was brought in, it was pretty much a forgone conclusion. to be honest, I’m much more interested in learning what is going on with the Oline than listening to the $9.95ers bloviate about how they got things so wrong.9 points

Speaking of Buechele, he’s still with the Chiefs. Got some work yesterday after Mahomes got some reps. It looks like Reid is grooming him. Nice to see they’ve kept him and seem to plan on keeping him around for a while.9 points

Like we needed more proof that Herman sucked ass. We're going to have a young and exciting team, but there will be some growing pains. Obviously Sark is willing to do what needs to be done to change the culture the right way, but he might need more time than any of us want to wait. I will try to remind myself of this when we inevitably struggle and I'm pissed.8 points

There’s definitely at least one dumb motherfucker around here, and he’s outed himself for all to see. You don’t have a fucking clue about this subject and you’ve made that hilariously obvious. But hey, stick with your certainty, it’s fun to watch. There are more than a million subscribers to college sports sites and they’re paying for an entertainment service no different than streaming or investment newsletters. That’s not a “fake ass industry.”7 points
