  1. The absolute simping for a guy who beat his girlfriend and got himself fired for being an asshole is pathetic. There should be more to life than your sports fandom

  2. I don't completely understand the poo pooing of this hire. Maybe expectations were too high regarding who Texas was going to be able to bring in? Sometimes there's a candidate that's such a perfect fit that there's no question they're the one. Chris Beard was that kind of hire. Folks like Roy Williams at North Carolina, Bill Self at Kansas, Calipari at Kentucky, Pitino at Louisville. But usually there are flaws with hires. How many people considered great basketball coaches were can't misses when they were hired? Hurley certainly wasn't. Oates wasn't (is he considered a "great" coach at this point without a ring? Dunno). Scheyer at Duke was a big risk. Indiana can't get their coaching hire right since Knight left decades ago. Look at UT's history. Abe Lemons wasn't a can't miss. Bob Wetlich was an assistant under Knight. Tom Penders was hired for a fun style coming from Rhode Island. Rick Barnes had some minor success at Providence and Clemson, but had already earned a reputation as not being able to win in the tournament - a rep he still enjoys today. Smart had a spectacular single season at VCU. Beard was as close to a sure thing as we've ever hired, but he's a UT grad in special circumstances. That's akin to UNC being able to hire Roy Williams from Kansas. Rodney Terry became the head coach because of circumstances more than career metrics. I'd argue Sean Miller has a better coaching resume than any head coach ever hired at Texas other than maybe Chris Beard, due to Beard having the national championship appearance. But in terms of numbers of Sweet 16s before coming to Texas, we've never had anyone of this caliber. I'm genuinely excited about this hire. I already know I'm going to be frustrated by his defense, because defense is more important to me than it is Miller, but oh well. He's going to run an explosive and exciting offense. He knows how to get people open for their shots. He has a vision for what he wants his basketball team to look like and he'll recruit to that vision. I've seen too many coaches get enamored with the talent they can bring to Austin rather than recruiting the talent that fits the scheme they're going to employ. That won't be Miller's issue. Miller has shown he's a very good coach. We'll see what he can do at 56. But I feel like he's hungry and wants a chance to compete at the highest level, and he didn't feel like he was going to get that chance at Xavier. And if he doesn't work out we'll move on and go get someone else. By then I imagine the college athletics landscape will have made some seismic shifts, so who knows what college basketball looks like at that point. But in the meantime I feel like it's an outstanding hire. It's not perfect, but very few hires are. If he has some early success with the exciting style of offense he runs and the level of financial support Texas basketball receives, I don't see any reason we can't return to the Texas basketball heydays of TJ Ford/Durant/Augustin/et al.. BTW, saying Texas basketball is a top 15 NIL school is hilarious to me. We have some very deep pockets who are emotionally connected to the success of the basketball program. It's not Phil Knight level of support for Oregon football, but it's very deep. And it's basketball specific.

There's certainly no shitstorm over it except in liberal spaces online. Them murdering an anti-tesla activist likely wouldn't even get covered in the mainstream media right now.

  10. 1) Looks like Charlie Williams (On3) put in a CB pick for Mark Bowman, to Texas. 2) Also looks like Justin Wells put in a CB pick for Felix Ojo, to Texas. 3) WR Mike Brown committed to the Aggies. Didn't seem like he was high on our board ...

  12. Had this convo with a friend yesterday morning. Chris Beard would almost undoubtedly still be coaching here had he shut the fuck up, complied with the University requests for investigation and took remedial steps that they suggested in official or advisory capacities through mouthpieces (aka stop bringing her around and/or get it handled) Instead he acted like a drunk moron full of hubris and stuck by his batshit lady who cost him his entire dream scenario in life. Hope it was worth it for the punches in your tough shit card. No matter how much success he has at ole miss, or how much he makes he will die knowing it was only a fraction of what he would have had or accomplished had he not fucked up the opportunity at Texas. Could have been a legend, now will just be a forever example of a good coach and shitty person.

  13. This story is 100% true. Yesterday we were coming back from the Legends Event Center in Bryan. My daughter's volleyball club pulled her up from the 17u team to 18u so they could win a bid to go to nationals, which they did. We are passing by the Death Star and my daughter says she wants to drive through their campus. So we go by the Dixie Chicken, and then cut through their campus sports complex. She is making fun of it the whole time. Where are the trees. Pretty nice for a cult and all that. These are her own conclusions from what she knows of kids who went there and came home to visit. We come up on a wall where someone has painted an upside down longhorn with "saw em off" on it. She starts asking why they are so obsessed with UT. So we get home and she is telling the wife about it. I realize she knows nothing of Yell Leaders. So we sit down and I pull up a Youtube video of a midnight yell. She watches, mouth agape, periodically yelling out "what the hell!". We get to the part where one of the yell leaders does a few moves then those jazz hands they do while spinning and going to a knee. My daughter, junior in high school, gets up and repeats it while putting a little extra femininity on it.. My daughter- "Look at the little fairy boy", she says while recreating the dance in our family room Me- No. It's a huge deal to be a yell leader there. Dudes have been lining up to be one for 100 years My daughter- There is no way that dude is straight Wife- He is straight My daughter- They probably go back to the locker room and whack each other off. "My girlfriend doesn't do it like you", she says in her best boy voice Me- Bust out laughing Wife- trying not to laugh(doesn't wanna encourage that kind of talk), and not choke on her drink, "We don't talk like that!" Daughter- I'm just saying.... Happened last night. Teenage girls are brutal.

  14. Some of ya'll have the funniest fucking message board genuises worthy expecations about how coaching movement goes down in the big boy revenue sports. When has Texas ever money whipped or godfather offered a big time A-list surefire name in football, let alone basketball? When does it ever happen, period? It's rare. When has an NBA coach ever voluntarily left for a college job? Kentucky wishcasted a lot of the same names a year ago. They ended up settling for Pope - a coach who had never even won a tournament game. Yet we have doofuses in here pointing to Tennis and Beach Volleyball hires as evidence that we should be able to just "go get" whoever we want. BTW Sean Miller has won 71% of his games and has 8 conference titles in 20 seasons. Rick Barnes, the best coach in school history, has a career 66% winning percentage and 5 titles in 38 seasons.

  15. I told half of my Sean Miller story - I'll finish it off I showed up.at the 5 star basketball camp, a 6'4" 240 pound guard - I actually got lost on the way to campus and they sent this guy Clyde Vaugn to pick me up (look him up, he was a great player), I had no idea who he was at the time. Anyway they were like "you aren't what we expected, you don't look like a basketball player, much less a point guard.". They put me on a team coached by Goose Givens and he proceed to put me at the high post where I just set screens and passed the ball and has guard bigger 4s and 5s. On day 2 we had the camp free throw contest. I won the team, then won our group (8 teams) and then was in the final 4 of all the groups. My opponent was Sean Miller. We knew who he was because he was the youngest guy there and had been on the tonight show. Long story short, I missed 1 (out of 10) and he missed 2. He got sent out by the "defensive tackle". After averaging about 3 points a game, I put up a 30+ piece in the final game on day 3. I never liked Goose .

  17. The adults in charge are absolutely killing it, @realgreggym. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2025/03/trump-administration-accidentally-texted-me-its-war-plans/682151/ The world found out shortly before 2 p.m. eastern time on March 15 that the United States was bombing Houthi targets across Yemen. I, however, knew two hours before the first bombs exploded that the attack might be coming. The reason I knew this is that Pete Hegseth, the secretary of defense, had texted me the war plan at 11:44 a.m. The plan included precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing.

  18. Because the very purpose of these chats is to entirely outside the government channels, because these people -- in flagrant and total violation of the law, by the way -- are attempting to avoid having records of actual government business maintained and accessible by the government. Which is how it works. All records of government activity conducted by government actors -- ALL OF THEM, EVERY FUCKING LAST ONE OF THEM -- are records of the United States government, and thus belong to the government and importantly, to "we the people." These criminals (that's what they are, all of them - they were right when they said it about Hillary's emails, and that means I'm right when I say it about them) are attempting to circumvent that requirement, which is a violation of the law. Laws for thee, not for me, exhibit infinity.

  22. Republicans create a villain leading into each election cycle - obamacare, CRT, DEI, socialism, trans, antifa, caravans - using their propaganda outlets. Once the villain is established in the minds of the gullible, they connect the villain to the democrat candidate. Dems need to utilize the same play. The villain is Big Tech. Hammer away the message consistently now until July 2026. Big Tech controls you. Big Tech is stealing your money. Big Tech is stealing your freedom. Over and over. Big tech becomes this vague thing that is the reason for personal failures. In Jun 2026, introduce the slogan - Fight Big Tech In Aug 2026, hang the big tech albatross around every republican neck. Musk is the low hanging fruit here.

  27. Let’s place a bet. You bet on your stupid fucking position that Texas won’t be top 15 in basketball NIL and that I don’t know anything about what is happening for NIL. I will bet that you are a shitposting clown with no connections to the process. Accordingly, Texas will level up as needed to be a top program on NIL for basketball, along with every other sport. Which ever one of us is wrong will agree to a permaban from immamac and the other will continue as normal.

  32. It’s under-appreciated that this crew has an edgelord meme level understanding of the world. Witkoff on Carlson banging on about how the Middle East has so much more potential than Europe as a partner but in the real world it’s not a race where they pull even in six lifetimes. Europe needs a kick in the ass (and got one) but here’s reality: the Middle East has nothing of value outside of petro chemicals and doesn’t need special care to sell that to us, they can’t eat it. The entire region with a slight exception for tiny Israel produces no innovation, no science, no culture appealing to anyone but them, nothing but angry young men desperate to get to…..Europe. And it will never do any of those things so long as it retains the stupid and backward mentality of its rulers, which we are desperate to reproduce here. We are closer to turning into a failed and angry Middle East style sclerotic autocracy than the Middle East is to catchup up with Europe.
