Thereβs a thread on aggie 247 about Lance Zurlein evaluating the aggie draft prospects and he concludes that Turner is the best of their prospects and that all 3 will go in the first 70 picks. The thread tumbles into angst about those guys not really doing anything at ATM and handwringing about Elko and his programβs development skills, or lack thereof. Then this guy flies in over the top with an all time heater: Byew said... (original post) I could be wrong but I think the personnel was different than a typical Elko D. I think it might be far more effective this year with less talent.25 points

Flattie, I am not going to be an asshole in hopes that you hear me. I have said this here before but I guess it needs repeating. I am the first generation in my family to live their entire life with equal rights by law. My daughter is 16. We haven't even gotten to our 3rd generation yet. My mom joined the police dept a few years out of high school. Then she went back to school and got her nursing degree. Then she literally spent the rest of her life not taking care of herself so that I could get out. Mom died at 64. Not everyone is willing to dive on the grenade to further future generations but she did that and here I am. My mom never owned a home and I own a home in one of the richest suburbs in Houston, before that Woodland Hills CA, before that a golf course cul-de-sac. Now I am not rich, but my daughter has never known struggle. Most blacks are somewhere between my mom and me. Now you mentioned slavery which is a mistake a lot of conservative whites always make when having a little civil discourse about the black struggle. After slavery you had a huge backlash about blacks being free as soon as you know who got in office. Then came decades of taking away any progress blacks made. Debt Peonage. Jim Crowe. Racial Covenants. Redlining. Whites were violent against blacks on the regular. Then came the 70's and being physically violent against blacks wasn't kosher. So whites started attacking blacks through law making like stop and frisk. The US prison population was about 300,00 in 1970 and almost 2 million 3 decades later. Reagan instituted the 100-1 law where 5 grams of crack got you the same sentence as 500 grams of powder. Crackheads with 3 little rocks in their pocket were going away for years instead of getting help under the guise of "distribution". Again, any progress the black community made was being wiped out with swaths of people being put away for a ridiculous amount of years for having an addiction. Then came the 94 crime bill, the 3 strikes and your out bill, and gang injunction. Under gang injunctions if you were caught on the street after curfew. Jail. If you were thought to be a gang member and you were talking to another suspected gang member. Jail. If you were believed to be wearing what law enforcement saw as gang colors, or had suspicious tattoos. Jail. So you see buddy, they have never left us alone. It's 2025 and The President of the United States of America is attacking Universities for teaching about African Americans and punishing anyone with a Diversity program. But yeah......slavery. PS. As soon as white people started smoking weed regularly they decriminalized it. They also started trying to get people help when the opioid epidemic hit White America. Had that been us they would've increased the sentences.20 points

The best part about that post is Elko was the one who recruited all 3 of those top 70 guys theyβre losing who supposedly didnβt fit his scheme.17 points

hey Mr. "not gonna die on this hill but I'll spam-troll cloak room and threaten to leave when called out for flat out falsity" - go fuck yourself. this is such a bitchass move and fuck you for using it. you don't get to come in here with your facts all fucked up, and when you're are fucking plainly called out for it, bitch out and hide under @immamac's weird protective umbrella. you are either a liar or a collaborator or a fool. I'm so tired of this dumb bullshit. calling out posters for being liars is not community destroying. it's community self- regulation. Jbj came in here pretending not to care but then fired off how many posts? Lol, whatever bro.14 points

I joined when I turned 50, as more of a lark. Humble brag incoming. See, as I approached that magical birthday, I received one of their mailers extolling the virtues of joining. All for $12 a year! I was about to toss it in the trash, and then I noticed a tidbit that the spouse of a member automatically received a card. So, I went online, created an account and paid the $12 bucks. Put in my name, and put in my wife's name for her free card, then sat back and waited, A few weeks pass, and I get an envelope with both of the cards. Wife comes home from work, and I tell her I have a surprise for her. I take the AARP card with her name on it, and hand it to her. She has a horrified look on her face, and starts to ask "why?" She was 37 at the time. Handing over her AARP membership card to her, at that age, was worth the yearly membership. We still joke about it to this day. And she actually has used it a time or two on hotel room reservations, when the AARP discount was greater than the usual discounts either of us receive.11 points

Texas is going to be #1 in everything now, the SEC, the national rankings and the RPI. Kind of an impressive start in the SEC, SEC, SEC. Also impressive for this coaching staff.10 points

Itβd be a damn shame if someone sent him there. And realize how fucked up this is: itβs apparent that we really miss the sane, decent, and moderating influence that used to keep Alito somewhat in check: Scalia.10 points

I had a good day today, running around and catching up on a whole lot of errands I missed doing the last couple weeks when I was out of town on the weekend. I rocked this everywhere. I got called out a couple times during the day(at Home Depot, and while filling up gas), but I just gave them a blank look, and said βNo entiendo, gusano!β9 points

I hate to keep bumping, but I have to tell you- I absolutely love seeing Sooners post on their boards about college football not even being fun anymore, since team building is just a function of raising and spending money. As a Longhorn fan of over 40 years, I can tell them that you can still enjoy this sport even when your most bitter rival is winning recruiting battles by just paying more.9 points

I had forgotten but started this thread in 2021 as a daily drinker after watching a tub of goo use his finger to scrape nacho cheese from a batting helmet. At the time I was about 225, which at 6β required a bit more than the 20 pounds I thought I needed to drop. Iβm now 170 with about 12% body fat and 80% of that weight loss was from cutting out alcohol. Itβs really, really hard to overcome that 500 plus calories per day daily drinking adds. I couldnβt really make a dent in it for 15 years with diet and exercise. Quit drinking and lost 50 pounds in six months. And the shitty thing I knew damn well the drinking was the main problem but convinced myself there was a workaround in there if I kept trying. On a more positive note Iβm getting ready to go to Brennerβs Steakhouse with a 3000 calorie deficit for the day so itβs ribeye and potatoes and dessert.8 points
