When Fasusi went to OU last year we all were mostly okay with it because of a 2026 OL we wanted and that OL wasn’t Felix Ojo. Pumped to have Turntine in the class. Checks a lot boxes on and off the field.43 points

She and her late husband have been family friends since my dad moved us here in ‘88. I left here when I graduated high school, and never looked back. Until I moved back here a year and a half ago. This is a wonderful place (politics excluded), to raise a child as a family, or a single dad like myself. I went to sleep last night and it was sprinkling. I woke up periodically throughout the night to a torrential downpour. At 8am this morning, my backyard was underwater. That’s when the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I reached out to my firefighter friend, and questioned the three flash flood alerts I’d received starting at 3am. I wasn’t able to do shit, other than load and unload stuff for the first responders. I had to stand down when it came to getting into the fray. I’m having a lot of trouble with what’s going on. I was able to watch a woman rescued via helicopter, from a tree. It reminded me of the footage from 87. People who I’ve known all my life, and consider family, have lost their homes. If these Mystic kids are gone, I’m going to lose my shit. I don’t really pray anymore, but I’ll do whatever it takes to just get some good news. I absolutely hate feeling helpless, and that’s how I feel right now. I woke up today, and planned on a day of drinking. Man, that changed. Sorry for the rant, but it’s been a fucking day.37 points

My wife is on a mom’s thread for my daughter’s cabin from last Mystic term. Things are coming in fast and furious, but apparently a cluster of four girls has been spotted, is temporarily safe, and is waiting to get rescued from high ground.26 points

Posting that number publicly is a recipe for some bad feelings in the locker room.25 points

I feel like I'm going to puke. When some crusty old ass like me dies in one of these events, that's sad. Little kids at summer camp? That's just totally heart-breaking.24 points

Drinking now. Here’s a pic of homesick jr and myself escaping Harvey. We’re standing on a “mini-dam, on the river property where the two houses out of view are now no longer standing. If this picture was taken right now, we’d be an easy 18-22 feet under water. The entrance to Camp La Junta is literally about 500 yards behind us.22 points

I’m an hour away. My 8 year old is at La junta. We know at least a dozen girls at mystic right now. Once I get there I’ll start a thread. For people to post updates22 points

He’s a tackle. Gerry is adamant about it. He has seen Turntine numerous times for years and is a much better evaluator than the guys running the recruiting services. He’s said he has tackle wing span and may be the most athletic lineman in the last two OL classes. He’s also ranked in the top 10 in his high school class academically and has tremendous work ethic. He’s said multiple times that Turntine has been at the top of the Texas board for years. Flood has been recruiting him for 3 or so years as a tackle. He will probably be the most ready tackle prospect from a technique and feet standpoint since Banks. He simply has to put on about 30 pounds. That is probably the only thing holding him back. Gerry said he is already squatting a ridiculous amount at his current weight.20 points

This is now the 2nd recruitment, at least, in which McGuire has leveraged a recruit’s status to make a fool out of Sarkisian and Texas. I’m not sure what the recourse is, but off the top of my head, telling a recruit if they’re going to visit Tech in any way shape or form, Texas will remove their offer seems like a possible path. Couldn’t do that with most places, but Lubbock and Tech are special circumstances due to the shithole, dumpster fire nature of that place and regime.20 points

My niece who is on the staff at Honey Creek camp climbed up the hill behind the camp early this morning to get cell service. She called her mom to report that all their 200+ campers were safe and dry in the dining hall building. https://campchtx.com18 points

Let’s keep real. He wouldn’t have gotten that money anywhere else. The issue is he played Texas. Bad. As of Monday he was telling Sark, commits, and his high school staff he was committing to Texas. Texting Turntine saying they would have the internet going crazy if they both commit same day. All while already having the deal with Tech signed. Tech didn’t come out the blue this week. If he didn’t play Texas they most likely sign Lee or the Aggie commit. Ojo was from Texas and said he was committed so the staff allocated the money and set it aside for him. Two staff members thought Lee was better but overall the staff wanted to respect what his family told them.18 points

A friend with two boys there sent me a message that she had received from a mom that has a son there working as a counselor. The message said the counselors rescued 60 boys out of cabins that were flooded. Those counselors are kids themselves. Remarkable work by those boys to save campers.18 points

Friend was able to pick up their two boys that were at La Junta from a church in Kerrville. This happened within the last hour.17 points

To be fair, he is in the same district as Turntine who won 1st team.17 points

Just so we’re on the same page here, you do realize that you’re actively engaging with one of the lowest IQ, highest vaginally juiced fucktards in all of longhorn netdom, right?16 points

I look at it like this - we may have lost a recruit, but we gained a villain. How much fun was it saying "fuck the brocks" and then watching them such shit through a straw at Bama? The answer? A FUCK TON of fun. Now we get to do that with Ojo, but instead of sucking at a real program like Bama, he went to fucking Texas Tech! Hilarious!16 points

There are people involved with recruiting who have been saying that this guy is bad news for months. You’re letting the player and his family off the hook.16 points

Grabbed my son and nephew from Stewart last weekend. Niece finished Waldemar last weekend as well. I’m really good friends with the Mystic owners, and am waiting to hear another update from him. The friends’ houses that were destroyed were in Canyon Springs, directly across the highway from La Junta. An AFD buddy (who had the 4th off) and I are loading up his truck right now, and heading to meet two more friends with flat bottom boats in Ingram. We’ve got permission to try and launch with another friend who’s a Kerr Cty sheriff’s deputy. And it’s still pouring here.16 points

Also just a reminder that last summer we had zero DTs then miraculously closed Myron Charles, Sharma, and Terry. And then went out and money whipped Maraad Watson in the portal.16 points

What a coincidence. My nephew was also involved in a junta that set up camps.16 points

Me and an Aggie are going to head up Monday. Anyone out there need anything, PM me. His place in Brady got flooded, but we can use it as a staging ground and work the roads from the west vs. being another car going to respond. I have all the supplies needed to clean a house up, spray bleach, clear trees, you name it. If you know of anyone who needs something let us know. Asked the boss for PTO. He said, get the fuck out there. Clean water? Purification tablets? Food?15 points

Except we do look at these events and a lot of the engineers who are working on evaluating these conditions are explicitly accounting for climate change and associated impacts in terms of evaluating these facilities. - an engineer who designs dams throughout the southwest.15 points

Unfortunately, this is the environmental reality of Texas today: In order for large swaths of our state to emerge from devastating drought it will require rain events that will destroy other areas. This storm is both tragic and life restoring.15 points

Greg Abbot distracting people talking about God instead of giving answer. Shut the fuck up and tell us WTF the state is doing and who’s missing and the kids.14 points

Hawks are back up. I’m reaching out to everyone I know (trustworthy third party) folks to see if I can get any information. I’m not going to reach out to the Mystic family, because, they’re doing any and everything in their power to make sure that everyone is safe. Trust me. My sources are firefighters and sheriffs that I know personally, who are boots on the ground. I had to leave because I’d done all I technically could. But they thanked me for trying/helping. They’re talking to me from Hunt, Ingram, and Kerrville proper. I can’t promise anything other than to try and get info.14 points

There is absolutely no more worthless group in a situation like this than the Red Cross. They literally made things worse in Wimberley. If you're going to donate money to the relief efforts, PLEASE do not donate to the red cross.14 points

Lots of parents with kids at summer camps along the Guadalupe waking up this morning to this news. Keep them in your thoughts this morning. I’ve been texting with a friend that has a son at La Junta right now and they reported that all of the kids are safe and accounted for, but that all roads in/out of Hunt are washed out. Lots of very stressed out parents across Texas this morning.13 points

I’m agreed with y’all about Ojo, but shit talking the Big 12 just feels Aggie. The Big 12 champ took us to double overtime. And that ASU squad lost to Tech. To be clear, Tech sucks and will always suck but they’re in the rearview along with the rest of that conference. I’m not going to badmouth the Big 12 any more than I would the ACC. Personally, I would still be happy if Ojo were in the boat. Flood wants him and was willing to make him a decent offer, and that’s enough for me. But what I don’t want to do is overpay for a guy with a bad attitude and a long developmental curve. Take that money and give it to someone who is either more talented or willing to put in the work. Basically, sounds like this dude is fat Micah Hudson. He should the money vaya con dios to Lubbock, because it doesn’t seem like he’s a good fit for our program.13 points

Seriously, you're correct -- they were absolutely heroic after the Wimberley flood, and that was before there was even an HEB in town.12 points

Ojo's number being that ridiculous is probably a good sign for those that were worried. House settlement or not, Texas was not going to pay 5+ million dollars for Ojo, that is an irresponsible use of funds.12 points
