I hope you all forgive me for cross-posting this ... fun watch. Got me excited for the season. Note - first stop, Texas. (Not a horror movie, though.)24 points

I have a very, very special place in my heart for Shipley. It was one of the first places a departed uncle took me to when I first immigrated to Houston and tried for the first time a fresh-glazed donut. A donut of any kind! And to this day, a Shipley fresh-glazed is my all-time favorite. They remain a guilty pleasure and something I'll occasionally grab a dozen of when I visit family.21 points

I've been sworn to secrecy and haven't even told my core friend group, but what he's alluding to with something big coming for NIL will also just be really fucking big for UT athletics. And it will also be hilarious. Regarding the back-up QB battle, there are no doubt multiple posters on this site who are grinding their teeth right now that Trey Owens isn't going to cut it.16 points

You pick the weirdest shit. Last year we weren't favored to win the NC. Last year we weren't favored to win the SEC. Last year we didn't have the face of college football at QB. The hype definitely feels on a different level.12 points

The offseason is over and I don't trust @BurntOrange&White's dark and sinister aura with the 2025 fall camp or season. The march begins this week towards the 2025 National Title. I've pasted below Bobby Burton's first look at his view on what big things are up for grabs when practice starts on Wednesday. He really kind of beats around the bush in regard to the team needing to find a 4th WR. He also ignores the kicking game altogether which seems like something we want to see fixed in a major way. ***** Let’s keep today’s column relatively simple and straight-forward. What are the primary position battles and questions expected during fall camp? - Back-up QB. Matthew Caldwell or Trey Owens? Word is, Caldwell very much looks the part But let’s see if Owens is prepared to defend the spot. - RB rotation and the timing of it. Trey Wisner is obviously going to play a lot. The questions are the health and timing of Ced Baxter, and the ability of Jerrick Gibson, Christian Clark and James Simon. Baxter is thought to be “ahead” in his recovery, but just how far exactly? Gibson has worked hard this off-season to re-shape his body. We’ll see if that helps his quickness. Clark looked really good in spots, too. Simon is the freshman worth watching. One key on these back-ups: which one is the best in pass protection? - WR depth. After DeAndre Moore, Ryan Wingo, Emmett Mosley and Parker Livingstone, we need to see if any of the talented freshman make a move during camp. Texas would love another freshman to join Daylan McCutcheon as being highly reliable (and not just talented). - TE. Though he may not be there on day one of practice because he is a transfer, we can pencil Jack Endries in as the starter. But who will be the back-up and what will the rotation be? Is Spencer Shannon the sole in-line option? - Right tackle and the overall influence of Nick Brooks and possibly Nate Kibble. Brooks might get reps at right tackle to push Brandon Baker and Andre Cojoe. Brooks might also be so good they force feed him into the lineup at left guard. Kibble has not received the same fanfare but he could be a guy who makes things happen for himself during camp. - Interior DL. We already got a taste of Cole Brevard and Hero Kanu in the spring. What is the rotation and what is the value of Travis Shaw, Maraad Watson and Levon Johnson? - Linebacker. Lots of options here. How will Texas deploy them? The development of Trey Moore as an off-ball linebacker will be intriguing, as is the usage of Brad Spence. - The Secondary. Good luck figuring this out before camp starts. Texas legitimately has eight players who could fill five starting spots: Manny Muhammad - starting corner Jaylon Guilbeau - corner or nickel Michael Taaffe - starting safety Jelani McDonald - safety or big nickel Derrick Williams - safety Kobe Black - possible starting corner Wardell Mack - possible starting nickel Warren Roberson - possible starting corner The list doesn’t include three freshman that people are speaking highly of in Jonah Williams, Graceson Littleton and Kade Phillips. In other words, there’s a lot of vetting left to do in the secondary. And that begins in training camp, starting Wednesday, just three days from today. OTF will be there.10 points

CSB My wife’s great uncle treated JFK after the PT109 rescue in the Pacific. There is a picture of Kennedy with a kitten that appeared in the Saturday Evening Post. That picture is only half of the photo. The kitten was actually the uncle’s and JFK had adopted a puppy. The uncle never responded to requests for permission to use the whole photo so the Post ran with a cropped pic. the photo that ran. the whole photo:10 points

I let my daughters watch Ghostbusters last Halloween (8 and 6). It had been a while since I had watched it, and figured the more adult raunchy humor would go over their heads, but they would get a kick out of Slimer and the Stay Puft marshmallow man. It was listed under the "Family" genre was and only rated PG, fuck it. I remembered being scared of the librarian ghost jump scare as a kid so I warned them before and they closed their eyes, no big deal....what I was NOT prepared for and didn't remember was the semi exorcist-esque scene where Sigourney Weaver is possessed by Zuul and speaking in the demonic voice before eventually turning into androgynous David Bowie cosplay...that was a mistake10 points

Regarding item 3, I think you've mixed some of it up. Slocum was having an affair with his secretary. His wife discovered it somehow, while Slocum was running a fall practice. She drove up to the field, got out and started dumping a bunch of his clothes and personal belongings onto the grass. Then she told him not to come home and tore off in her car. Slocum spent awhile after that on his office couch, or his secretary's place, who knows? Eventually, he reconciled with his wife and moved back home. Slocum is one of those public personalities that gets a lot more credit in various ways than he should. Of course the aggies all talk about him in a hagiographic manner, but regular ol'college football talking heads will also celebrate the guy when he comes up or stops by somewhere. Slocum was Sherrill's lead bagman. He was a fucking cheater if there ever was one. He was a driver in taking them to the brink of the abyss (death penalty). Those idiots should wake up everyday and thank God that SMU was even more craven and pathetic. After all of that, and when Slocum was in control, he continued to push the cheating. ATM was banned from bowls and television in the fucking 90's, for Christ's sake. It wasn't until the last embarrassment in the mid-90's that ATM got religion about cheating until they entered the SEC. Slocum also gets a lot of credit as some sort of terrific coach. I respect his defensive scheming at the time with how they ran their version of the 3-4 and how well they did it. That said, a lot of idiots can be awesome at something when they're cheating and most of the competition isn't, or not nearly to their levels. Gene Chizik won a national title. Les Miles won a national title. Ed Orgeron won a national title. Beyond that, the guy was actively damaging to his offenses as a head coach. It was often great comedy to watch that dumb motherfucker sell "opening up the offense" during the offseason around the state and then the aggies online and in your neighborhood would lap it up. After he was shitcanned but stayed forever an aggie, he went out of his way in multiple seasons, once on the board of the Harris poll, in trying to fuck Texas over from top 2 contention in the BCS. He was actively working against Texas in 2008, publicly even! He is also an alleged repeat offender as a philanderer. So, sure, great guy. When he dies, even people on here will offer kind thoughts and prayers and all of that shit. Just show me the location of his grave, so I can drive over to it and spit on it.10 points

He's a contrarian troll. He fuels the rhetoric about how sick and twisted the CR is, and is one of the worst instigators of the bunch. The only reason that you're trying to have a discussion with him, is that you haven't tried to already. Go ahead and touch the stove though10 points
