  1. just in case you are not aware of the circumstances and facts regarding this topic..... the date for saturday's game, 30 august 2025, was contracted 2 years ago during the negotiations between Texas, 0u, the sec, the rig12, disney and fox, which resulted in an agreement that paid 0u's fee to exit the rig12 a year early https://www.si.com/college/2023/02/03/big-12-sec-texas-longhorns-oklahoma-sooners-split-explainer Texas paid our own early exit fee 0u did not have the money to pay theirs consequently, given that Texas could not move a year early without 0u, it was in Texas' interest to find the money for 0u and thus, the venue for last year's Texas-michigan game, which was originally in Austin, was switched with the venue for the 2027 game, which was in ann arbor the venue for this year's Texas-tosu game has always been columbus, however the date, 30 august 2025, was reconfirmed BY CONTRACT during the above mentioned negotiations in february 2023 the 2025/2027 venue flip of the Texas-michigan game was made so fox could broadcast last year's game in ann arbor under the fox b1g contract that change helped create the cash necessary to pay 0u's early exit fee to the rig12 in addition, the dates for the 2025 (ann arbor) and 2026 (columbus) games were negotiated and set during the contract changes which rescheduled these games YOU, tosu, were at the table during these negotiations YOUR league was at the table during these negotiations if you wanted the date changed, you, your league, and your tv partner should have made it part of the deal and despite the above...... YOU, tosu, control the kick off time of the game this saturday YOUR problem is YOUR b1g contract with fox because fox has a baseball contract that negates your ability to schedule marquee night games that would require a national fox ota broadcast YOUR school, team, fanbase and media conflated our refusal to change the DAY of the game with with only 60 days notice, with YOUR belief that Texas was somehow responsible for YOU not getting YOUR night game if your school wanted to change this game to the sunday of labor day weekend so it could be a night game and not violate fox's contract with major league baseball inre: no saturday night b1g national ota games, YOU should have rolled that in to the negotiations in february of 2023, rather than wait until 60 days out when thousands of fans had already booked flights, hotels, cars, bought tickets, and the University of Texas had already contracted it's charter flights, buses, hotels, etc. 2 years ago there would have been time to move back and reschedule all of the remaining non-conference games, and to work with the sec regarding our bye dates, in advance of the 2025 season schedule being set, all of which would have been done for YOUR benefit, not ours, to enable you and your league to get you a night game avoid conflict with your tv contract partner's relationship with major league baseball it's amazing to me how that topic, the fox mlb contract regarding saturday primetime, was NEVER mentioned by your school, ad, fans or media, during their collective meltdown this summer over saturday's kickoff time

  2. Think about playing defense against Texas last season. When the QB and RB mesh, there's only two outcomes. Option one was an outside zone run by the RB. Option two was "play action". The QB kept it and prepared to throw. If you're a LB, you don't have to track an inside run or a QB keep. It just wasn't going to come up. Like most OCs, Sark's offense is designed to make the defense wrong in the passing game. That's why having Arch work 2 years with him is so important. It isn't reliant on outrageous QB physical gifts so much as seeing pre-snap what the defense is dictating, confirming the cues after the snap, and delivering an accurate ball to the correct area. The QB doesn't deliberately attack the secondary. If the Safety(ies) get pulled either to run support or middle zone coverage, then the ball goes deep to whichever shoulder the defender isn't covering. Texas, obviously, plays a rich share of top notch athletes. It's only wise, then, that the opposing defense would cheat to cover Texas' strengths while risking limitations. Not playing the QB keep and betting the deep ball would be late (enabling Safety recovery) or inaccurate was their best hope. I'm not needing anything approaching VY level heroics from Arch. I need him to take the 5-10 yards donated when the defense ignores him. I need him to punish the "defender on an island" coverage. Just drawing the defenders out and making them play honest will allow the rest of the offense to win their 1 on 1 battles.

  6. Junior Brown made me proud last night. I saw she made a Trader Joe’s run so I told her to try to not move her car during the week because parking is an issue. She said, she grabbed one of the orange cones that has β€œCSU” painted on it from the construction site next to her dorm and keeps it in her car. So, when she leaves, she puts the cone up in her parking spot. She’s moved her car a dozen times and so far no one has parked in her spot.

  7. CJ Vogel: On Monday, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was pretty blunt with his assertion that he expects LT Trevor Goosby back on the field for the Ohio State game on Saturday. Goosby was a full-participant Tuesday morning as the Longhorns continued their game prep for Ohio State. Texas continues to rotate some bodies around on the offensive line to create the optimal five, but things are trending positively for Goosby to be as close to full-strength as possible come kickoff in Columbus.

  9. I used to kinda scoff at the "it's a cult" stuff with Trumpers. Felt a little too on the nose. But I think it's true that around 100 million people in this country currently reside in an alternate reality. Some adore Trump, some support him, some are just in full denial. These people were scared shitless of perceived dangers from the left, yet completely shut out the very real and destructive effects of Trump and his merry band of fascists. They are in complete submission. It's just so fucking pathetic.

  11. Fuck yes it's here. The Cyclones and Rainbow Warriors were a fun amuse bouche but it's time for the real deal. I will be in Vermont for a dreaded fall wedding, but thankfully the ceremony is on Sunday. Anyone know a good place to catch a game in Burlington? Thursday #25 Boise State (-6.5) @ South Florida (5:30 / 4:30 ESPN): The only ranked team on Thursday is Boise State, which is in solid position to run back their Playoff run. It starts in Tampa. Unfortunately, USF is still playing in an oversized NFL stadium until 2027: https://www.usf.edu/stadium/ East Carolina @ NC State (-14) (6 / 7 ACCN): A very underrated level of hate between the two bottom rungs of North Carolina's "The Lowells speak only to the Cabots and the Cabots speak only to God" ladder of rivalries - ECU's biggest rival is State, whose biggest rival is UNC, whose biggest rival is Duke. (Wake Forest is just happy to be included, while App State's biggest rival is Georgia Southern for some reason.) Fun features of the Battle for the Victory Barrel: State graciously allowed ECU to use their field for a 1999 "home" game after Hurricane Floyd. ECU upset #9 Miami, tore down the goal posts, and trashed the stadium. In 2022, #13 NC State ground out a putrid 21 - 20 win in Rowdy Dowdy after ECU's kicker missed a winning field goal AND a tying extra point. I was there, it was approximately a billion degrees in the stands, and both fanbases were completely miserable. And last year's Military Bowl ended with an ECU win and brawl between the teams. No love lost! Nebraska (-7) vs Cincinnati @ Kansas City (9 / 8 ESPN): Two coaches with sharply differing storylines this year. Matt Rhule's Huskers have some real hype this year as a dark horse Big 10 contender. Meanwhile, no one quite knows why Scott Satterfield still has a job in Cincy. Should be a good barometer game for both teams. Friday Western Michigan @ Michigan State (-20.5) (7 / 6 FS1): One of the MAC's best programs makes the short drive from Kalamazoo to East Lansing. Jonathan Smith looks like a good coach, time to show some improvement with Sparty. Auburn (-2.5) @ Baylor (8 / 7 FOX): Yeah, it's a potentially bad night if you're relying on YTTV. Hugh Freeze has the talent together (including the best QB room in the SEC if you listen to some of Auburn's more deranged fans), but Dave Aranda seems to have turned the ship around at Baylor. Fascinating matchup in terms of two teams with high deltas for this season. Georgia Tech (-4.5) @ Colorado (8 / 7 ESPN): The Sanders boys are gone (and Deion made it through cancer treatment), so the Kaidon Salter era begins in Boulder. The Ramblin' Wreck are ACC contenders in Haynes King's final year, this should be a great litmus test for both teams. Brent Key has done a really nice job in Atlanta so far. Central Michigan @ San Jose State (-11.5) (10:30 / 9:30 FS1): Well, if you're starting your Big Noon pregame really early... Saturday Early Games #1 Texas @ #3 Ohio State (-2.5) (12 / 11 FOX): The Texas front seven has Sayin seeing ghosts. Arch manages the game well enough to win. We're all happy for a month and a half. #24 Tennessee (-13.5) vs Syracuse @ Atlanta (12 / 11 ABC): Not the most compelling counterprogramming, made even worse by being in an NFL stadium. Blah. Toledo @ Kentucky (-7.5) (12:45 / 11:45 SECN): It's an SEC team coached by a Stoops brother on upset alert against a spicy MAC team. This could be really funny. Old Dominion @ #20 Indiana (-23.5) (2:30 / 1:30 FS1): Hell yeah OOC Curt Cignetti scheduling! Nah, just kidding, don't watch this. Mid-Afternoon #8 Alabama (-13.5) @ Florida State (3:30 / 2:30 ABC): Bama is probably underranked, and I don't know how Mike Norvell gets the team back on his side after last year's catastrophe. The Tide should roll. Nevada @ #2 Penn State (-44.5) (3:30 / 2:30 CBS): God, this mid-afternoon slate sucks. The downside of spreading the games out all weekend. Hopefully Jeff Choate gets his guys out of State College with minimal injuries and avoids the general Central PA malaise / ennui. Montana State @ #7 Oregon (-27.5) (4 /3 BTN): Now, look, Oregon is going to win this. But the Bobcats are perhaps the best team in the FCS and Dante Moore is not the most inspirational starting QB. Here's hoping for some hijinks. Primetime UTSA @ #19 Texas A&M (-24.5) (7 / 6 ESPN): The Aggies think they're going to stomp a senior-laden G5 team that matches up well to their weaknesses. This has happened before, and it is not comfy for A&M. #9 LSU @ #4 Clemson (-3.5) (7:30 / 6:30 ABC): A popular national title pick in Clemson takes on the coach that can't win a season opener. Cade Klubnik finally looks like the QB announcers acted like he was for four years, Nussmeier is still the incarnation of "yeah, he's fine", and the home crowd at the superior Death Valley should be ferocious. Georgia State @ #21 Ole Miss (-35.5) (7:45 / 6:45 SECN): Ole Miss is a bit of a mystery this year. Kiffin might operate better without the bright lights and pressure of massive preseason hype. How will Austin Simmons look as the starter? Will the defense be worth a shit? We probably won't learn much this week. Late Hawaii @ Arizona (-17.5) (10:30 / 9:30 TNT): The nation's sweethearts travel to Tucson. Will Micah Alejado's leg be healed up or will he finally be dealt his first loss? Utah (-6.5) @ UCLA (11/ 10 FOX): Jesus, this is cruel scheduling for a fun OOC matchup. Pac 12 After Dark spiritually lives! Utah felt like they were better than their record last year, and are finally out of the Cam Rising era. Nico Iamaleava makes his big UCLA debut after already showing his whole butt on Twitter. Sunday Virginia Tech vs. #13 South Carolina (-7.5) @ Atlanta (3 / 2 ESPN): Oh good, where we really wanted to watch LaNorris Sellers and Dylan Stewart play was in a 2/3 full NFL stadium. At least it led to this fantastic jersey reveal: #6 Notre Dame (-2.5) @ #10 Miami (7:30 / 6:30 ABC): Catholics vs. Convicts is back! The national title odds drop precipitously between #9 LSU and #10 Miami, so let's see if Cristobal, Mendoza, and the Canes can battle their way into the conversation against a very strong Notre Dame team led by Lloyd Carr's grandkid. Monday TCU (-3.5) @ UNC (8 / 7 ESPN): Welcome to Chapel Bill. Belichick (and Jordon Hudson?) will lead out the Tar Heels in a tricky first matchup against the Hypnotoad. Should be a really fun crowd at one of college football's most beautiful venues for one of the most hyped football games in the Triangle in years.

  15. I know you're kind of an absolutist, so you're not going to buy-in on something until you see it confirmed like 3-4 times, but thinking about what Texas did last year with different personnel versus what they'll do this year, and having the worry be that Sarkisian will just do the same shit, is bizarre. When Sarkisian has the talent to run inside, and the talent to pass downfield, he's had his offense do those things. Like, there's a long history of that. So, yeah, we're going to see a more downhill approach. Separately, the defense is fucking physical. They've made a point of showing the world that year in and year out, so the team is going to exhibit plenty of physicality.

I wish I could find an article but I read an opinion piece recently arguing that blue states need to start flexing their financial muscle against red states to make a consequence for their fuckery. It used the example of Texas pulling all their state retirement funds from a company based in California as an example. The fact is blue states have a lot more financial muscle than red states. If Cali, NY, and MA did similar things to TX, TX would be absolutely fucked. Unfortunately it is time you fight fire with fire.

  22. There's really no such thing as a casual Trump fan, particularly if they wear MAGA gear to advertise it at this point in time. There's a heavy presumption that anyone like that is 100‰ all-in on the cruelty and stupidity and the burden is on them to disprove it. It's like putting on a Klan hood or wearing a swastika or SS runes. There's not many alternative conclusions to draw.

  27. I tell people this and they look at me like I’m fucking crazy. Which… I am. But not about this. It’s clear as day what’s coming. We aren’t having free and fair midterms next year. Gerrymandering is only one part of it. At the very least, I expect rigged processes and machines, limited polling times and locations, and an armed (and probably masked) military / LEO presence at the polls. Trump may even nullify Democrat victories.

  28. There is some interesting and comical shit going on here. 1) Ott is not listed as the starter and is listed behind a true freshman. Now, he's had new injury problems in camp and has missed practices, so maybe that's the reasoning. Still, they and the national media have assumed his health, and they've used that to buoy their expectations of the offense this season. They had one of their beat guys on XM 84 last week specifically citing that "well, the offense will be better no matter what just due to Mateer and Ott at QB and RB". Well, if, lo and behold, they get the Ott more akin to 2024 than 2023, that immediately changes the color and shape of that offense. 2) Venables said at SEC Media Days that Javonnie Gibson was out of his boot and would be participating in fall camp and early games. Dude hasn't run a drill yet and isn't listed. Neither is Jaydon Gibson, yet those two were cited all offseason as big reasons why the offense would be better this year as well. 3) Jaren Kanak as the starting TE is hilarious. The okie boards are seeing this as a good thing. A sign of pure athleticism meeting terrific development by ol'Joe Jon. It's remarkable delusion to witness. I have been saying from the spring forward that their TE room looked like a plumber's ass crack, but even I didn't think it could be this bad. 4) They have 4 starting OL positions with "OR" as an option. One of those includes listing a true freshman first and another position includes listing 3 guys as costarters. OU fans and writers see this as depth. If you witnessed their OL last year and have followed all of their injury issues through this camp, you know it isn't depth, it's desperation. 5) If Taylor Wein might start for you on the defensive front, maybe don't start calling that defensive front the best in college football. 6) Eli Bowen is still in a boot. Is that dude even going to make it back for later in the season? 7) Starting a true freshman at CB should go really well for them. I want to see that guy go up against the Auburn and Texas WR corps. This is a team that Phil Steele ranked #9 in the country. People are picking these guys as their CFP dark horse.

  34. The ones who travel are generally the ones with money and something to live for outside of football. They’re also the ones with something to lose if they put a brick through a windshield. They were fine, but there were far too few of them. The subhuman cretins I saw in Columbus were straight out of the Brad Pitt zombie movie, the name of which I can’t currently recall. Texas fans all knew, without needing any formal announcement, that it was not safe to leave the stadium in small groups. We all waited until the stadium emptied of OSU fans before gathering in the Texas section and leaving in unison. Back at the hotel after the game, a guy walks in wearing an Ohio State sweatshirt. He takes it off to reveal his Texas polo underneath. We ask him what’s up, and he said his Ohio State buddy literally had to give him the shirt so he could drive his car from the stadium back to the hotel. We were staying right on High Street, so it wasn’t a far drive. I’m not sure why the dumb bastard drove, but his buddy assured him he would get a brick through the windshield if the degenerates outside saw him in his Texas shirt. The next morning, the storefront windows had all been smashed out and a few cars had been burned. Mind you, up to this point, the two schools had never played before. There was absolutely no history to support such a reaction. It made no sense. Savages.
