G'day Texas Nation How about them sooners!! 🫣 I'm bringing the family over next month for the Arky game and as we are from Australia I would appreciate any recommendations to do on game day. Including the easiest way to get to and from the stadium (downtown). Is it walkable? As we will be there for 3 nights, I would also appreciate any must do things in Austin and any awesome places to eat and drink. 🍻 I've had a look at ticket prices, there is currently some lower bowl for around $300. Would you expect this to drop closer to game day? Cheers for your help, we are so pumped! Hook em!!24 points

look at this fossil. Has to be led around by a handler and the moment that handler lets go, he topples over like a fucking toddler. That look at 23 seconds strikes me as "where the fuck am I, who am I, i want jelly beans, dammit!" I'm so sick of these geriatric dipshits running the country when its probably the best they can do to not crap their fucking pants everyday. And that goes for the Dems as well. I just read that the democratic governor of Maine is running to be a first time senator at the spry young age of 77 goddamn years old.15 points

Halfway through the regular season and the college football world is clear as mud, with even #1 Ohio State remainingly relatively untested. Midweek CUSA action has been ongoing, with some fun (if not terribly high quality) football, including a massive upset - FIU demolished heavily favored conference favorite Western Kentucky and QB Maverick McIvor in Bowling Green. Sam Houston State vs. UTEP was down to the wire, but not quite wholesome viewing. Now let's get into the good stuff. Thursday Tulsa @ East Carolina (-16) (7:30/6:30 ESPN): Poor ECU - a great party school known for its incredible tailgate scene has been stuck with constant school night assignments. Friday Louisville @ #2 Miami (-13) (7/6 ESPN): Mario Cristobal always has a shitshow or two in him, but I'm not sure Louisville is in position to take advantage if it happens. #25 Nebraska (-4) @ Minnesota (8/7 Fox): Ranked Nebraska heading to a hostile Twin Cities should be a fun game. North Carolina @ California (-14) (10:30/9:30 ESPN): Heading to Berkeley late on a weeknight as a two touchdown underdog cannot have been how Bill Belichick saw this season going, but the #Calgorithm comes for us all. Saturday Early Games #10 LSU @ #17 Vanderbilt (pick 'em) (11/12 ABC): LSU looks like a paper tiger and starting to look up how many children's hospitals they'll need to close to afford Brian Kelly's buyout. Vandy is riding high, and still mad about all their missed chances in the Bama loss. This could be historic. Washington @ Michigan (-4) (11/12 Fox): Washington fans are furious they aren't ranked. Michigan is somehow still getting more votes than them despite Bryce Underwood looking like a freshman and Sherrone Moore looking like a clown. A statement win for UDub at the Big House could solve some problems all around. #12 Georgia Tech @ Duke (-1) (11/12 ESPN): Ranked road underdog ahoy. If Georgia Tech is pitchforked in a nooner at Wallace Wade, and no fans are there to hear it, will it make a sound? #14 Oklahoma (-4) @ South Carolina (11:45/12:45 SECN): Remember top ten South Carolina? Still, the wounded Sooners OL has to face Dylan Stewart. Hopefully John Mateer's heroball antics look more and more villainous to OU fans. Midafternoon #5 Ole Miss @ #9 Georgia (-6) (3:30/2:30 ABC): Why is this an afternoon game? A top ten clash of SEC giants, with Heisman contender Trinidad Chambliss (don't watch the Wazzu tape) up against the Terminators of the the UGA defense. Let's see if Lane can conjure up some more of the magic that comprehensively wiped out LSU. #4 Texas A&M (-8) @ Arkansas (3:30/2:30 ESPN): Pig has been coach-firingly awful this season, but hopefully Petrino 2.0 and a resumption of home-and-home hostilities with the Aggies brings out the best in them. #7 Texas Tech (-10) @ Arizona State (4/3 Fox): Sam Leavitt is trending toward playing this game, which makes this matchup a whole lot more fun. Primetime #21 Texas (-12) @ Kentucky (7/6 ESPN): Leading off the primetime slate by virtue of an earlier kickoff, we head down to the bluegrass to pummel a Stoops brother. In the absense of this game being particularly interesting (unless last year's obnoxiously effective version of Cutter Boley shows up), enjoy Steinbeck on Texas football on the road: "Sectional football games have the glory and the despair of war, and when a Texas team takes the field against a foreign state, it is an army with banners." #11 Tennessee @ #6 Alabama (-8) (7:30/6:30 ABC): Does Tennessee belong in the Playoff conversation? Here's where we find out. It's the Third Saturday in October! #20 USC @ #13 Notre Dame (-9) (7:30/6:30 NBC): Another rivalry game, and one that has rarely involved two ranked teams in recent times. Do you like coastal rich kids and fanbases full of people that got outright rejected from the colleges involved? You're in the right place. #23 Utah (-2) @ #13 BYU (8/7 Fox): HOLY WAR! Bar none the rivalry I have felt the most actual hatred from both fanbases involved. Which Utah school will take the driver's seat in the race to play Texas Tech for the Big XII's Playoff spot? We've already got one arrest from Saturday's game. RIP Pac-12 After Dark Florida State (-16) @ Stanford (10:30/9:30 ESPN): Oh no, Noles. What a collapse (again). Happy watching everyone!13 points

Jennifer Welch is fucking fire. I don't know her but I know people that do. She started off with this very low budget but funny podcast and somehow now is the most articulate person in the entire Democratic Party. "I've Had It" is the podcast.13 points

Other random and somewhat humorous OU stuff right now: -OU is down to two OTs - Fasusi and some back-up transfer. They're claiming Simmons could be back soon, but also not explaining what his injury is and they're vague about the whole thing. -The fans are arguing amongst themselves on several divisive threads and I am not sure which one is the most entertaining. They're flummoxed that USC and Riley are performing well after expecting Michigan to shred them. Numerous guys want Bedenbaugh gone while others are questioning the fandom of those posters doing so. On the Big 12 vs Venables quote thread, a mod has defended Venables' take and he's getting run over by his constituency. -No one can understand what the fuck is going on with Ott not getting PT, but numerous posters are simply unwilling to believe that it could be a byproduct of Demarco Murray not being very good at his job. -There is a growing consensus that Fatty Arbuckle sucks and they need Kevin Wilson's "uptempo offense" installed, with Wilson playing a bigger role on the staff. This is the same guy that was run off from Indiana after getting them to two consecutive bowl games and then only getting two seasons at Tulsa before being shitcanned there as well. Both places pushed him out because his team, his admins and the booster base all wound up hating him. He fits right in at OU, I guess. -They have a decent-sized faction of fans who honestly believe that they would have won the game on Saturday had those meddling refs not ruined things for them. This same group is projecting a 5-3 SEC finish with a win at SCar and then a sweep of their home SEC games remaining, Ole Miss, Missouri and LSU. -Another faction of posters is actively pleading for Venables to get shitcanned so "Nagy can get his guy" in there, with a return to top 10 national status being all but assured with that change. I'm enjoying witnessing where things are heading for the sooners and their program.13 points

Ok, so revert the wealthy tax rate back to where it was in 1961 and put that money into healthcare and wage equality. So Americans can afford to have children again.12 points

Oh, so they are literally making up shit to anger their base. I’m shocked. The entire Republican Party should be prosecuted for lying to the American people in an attempt to sow discord and violence and ultimately bring the country to its knees.12 points

I've been shouting from the rooftops about this for years. I feel like Ian Malcolm in when the T-Rex broke out of the paddock and he said "Boy do I hate being right all the time." The Obama administration really broke something in these white nationalists' brains. Anytime Black people or other POCs obtain any type of advancement the backlash from white supremacists is swift. This current era feels like the post Reconstruction era, where the rights of Black Americans were stripped down after a betrayal by the Supreme Court and we were led into Jim Crow. JC Penny suits replaced the KKK hoods, but their motive is still the same, cripple Black voting power, hamstring Black economic advancement, attack HBCUs, gaslight and deflect while they do trifling stuff, etc. The effects of their efforts will trickle down to other POCs, just as it has done in the past. People underestimate just how many among our populace is still mad about the 1960s Civil Rights legislation, they really want a return to pre 1954.12 points

the bottom line is this: donald trump does things on a weekly, if not daily basis, that would have gotten obama or biden impeached and ousted. and that’s how this authoritarian takeover happens: normalizing fascism daily. i’m sick to my stomach that we are where we are.11 points

Not like I know either guy, but James Franklin comes across as a genuine piece of shit that you would hate to have to spend any time with, whereas Marcus Freeman seems like such a good guy that he can make otherwise sensible people actually consider rooting for Notre Dame just a tiny bit.11 points

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Thursday he will deploy Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Texas National Guard members to Austin ahead of a planned ‘No Kings’ protest at the State Capitol Saturday afternoon. The governor claimed the protest was “antifa-linked” but did not elaborate. “Violence and destruction will never be tolerated in Texas,” Abbott said. “Today, I directed the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas National Guard to deploy all necessary law enforcement officials and resources to ensure the safety of Austin residents. Texas will deter criminal mischief and work with local law enforcement to arrest anyone engaging in acts of violence or damaging property.” The governor said troopers, special agents, Texas Rangers and Texas National Guard soldiers would be “surged” to Austin. The governor’s office did not say how many personnel it planned to send. “These law enforcement officers and soldiers will be supported by aircraft and other tactical assets,” a news release from Abbott’s team said. “DPS’ Homeland Security Division is actively monitoring the planned protest in Austin, as well as any other potential violent demonstrations across the state. DPS will investigate any links to known terrorist organizations and swiftly bring charges against those who engage in unlawful activity.”10 points

What the liberal media won't say is that FEMA is actually praying their asses off, agency-wide, to help the people of Kerr County. So they are actually doing far more than they ever have done before while also saving money.10 points
