I think there will be fewer receivers running wide open than last year. We were in pretty good position today, just didn’t play the ball very well. That happens with young DBs, and we’ve had to play so many guys. I think we’re making progress.

Agreed. So many back ups played today. Who all will be back for next week?

Just hope we can keep it within 3 TDs. This one could get ugly

No way in hell.  There's never blowouts in this game when one team is supposed to blow the other one out.  On top of that the worry with Tom is always the little game, the guy has no issues playing well, really well, in big games.  It will be a fucking war, as always (minus Mack's pantshitting days).

Some of you nancy’s need to get a grip. Cook played his best game ever and was obviously giving a shit. Jameson played very well also. Can’t ask for much more.

Yes the game will be tough but tonight gives me hope with the CB position. With CD lamb and crew this will be the biggest test. But next week is the cotton bowl and Hurts, while he has played in big games before, has never played in this one before. Sam has.

Not saying we are gonna win but if you put a gun to my head and asked who would win this one I’d say Texas because of Sam versus Hurts. Guess we shall see.

Jamison played great today. Being physical with the other teams best WR and knocking him out of the game is being overshadowed by his 2 awesome picks. Glad he had this type of game.

His best pick of the game was excellent from an athleticism standpoint. But he was beat on the route and mistimed his jumped. He punked the wr and took that shit from him though.

A bit of hope for the future does not equate to being capable of significantly slowing Oklahoma in seven days. That's not happening.

OU will have a fuck ton of passing yards and will hit on a fair amount big passing plays. Some will be scores, others will set them up in the red zone. The metric for a successful defensive performance will be, in addition to finding a way to get a handful stops/turnovers, will be forcing FG tries when they get into scoring position. That goes for both teams.

I predict another game like last year: we gash each other and last team with the ball wins or first team with a turnover loses.
It’s also the RRS, so the only thing that’s certain is OU sucks.
rrs what the fuck is that shit

it aint no rr nothing

it IS THE TEXAS/OU GAME.

that cutsie ass name shit is for INFERIOR GAMES. it is aggyriffic.

Sams Deep ball accuracy is shit, I think hes hurt  somethings up.  We get no pressure and Ceedeeeeeee lambchops will go for 200 on us.  We dont have the horses to get into a shootout. We have no run game, we have DD, our secondary is on its 3rd string with extremely young guys.   I think we have better athletes yes.
this game will be won by the coaches, and we are at a disadvantage  Our staff sucks, we have no hatred pipe hitting death to all mentality.  BlowU hates and plays with hate, and thier coaches want to score 100 every game and gives no fucks about your feelings.

this game will be won or lost on the coaching staff and our staff has beck and orlando
so what you are saying is we should quick kick a lot

Along with the lack of pressure, I’m also noticing the lack of the crazy stunts we ran regularly in games like the Sugar Bowl. Very few safeties around the line of scrimmage and nearly no DB’s blitzing. We had all of those things schemed in last season. I guess it’s bc we’re just that damn bad in coverage that we can’t spare the bodies.

I don't know about that. LSU we played with pressure attempting to come from everywhere, while getting close but not fast enough, and got reamed on the back end. and now we have everybody playing off and only bringing 3.

How much of that is injuries, timid scheme, opponent scheme, etc? We look lost in zone coverage underneath. Man looked much better, and allowed us to rush an extra 1 or 2 people and create some pressure.

Our D looks much different with BJ Foster and Chris Brown down around the line of scrimmage and Jones and Foster over the top.

Next week is gonna be a battle. We MUST tackle soundly in the secondary to limit the big plays between the 20's and not let 15 yards turn into 60 yd TD's. In the red zone, spy Hurts and pray our D Line makes things happen.

On O... run the ball down their throat. Throw it to #6 a lot. Hit them with a Parker Braun Counter Sweep. Cause why not.

The defense needs to be not unlike Tommy Hancock and the Supernatural Family Band - play loose, freestyle, with periods of otherworldliness. They need to gash the offense repeatedly with enthusiasm and vigor. No questions will be asked, so go full throttle. Fate, like a delicious chicken burrito, is in our hands.

Is there anyone here that can explain the strategy behind the Texas zone coverage? Although I never played past HS, when I played in zone coverage when someone entered your zone it meant you get your ass on them and make sure they don't catch the ball.

With Texas, it looks like it means stand flat footed until someone in your zone catches a pass and then go try to knock them down with your arms behind your back. I don't get it?O.o

1. Uh no
2. Of course.

Do you remember the time when the Case McCoy led team the sooners ass?  You never know in this game.  Man, that game is fun to remember, it was like walking into a casino and winning big early and playing with house money all day long!

The original question was, "will the secondary hold up", and the answer is no. We'll probably find out if we can beat OU after giving up 600 yards. Win or lose, I expect Jalen Hurts will be the Heisman front-runner after the game because he'll put up absurd numbers on us.

On the bright side, I think the answer to the question of "can we beat OU if we give up 600+ yards" is, why the fuck not? They'll run up and down the field on our lousy, stupid defense, but they'll probably make some mistakes same as they did last year and I don't think their defense has any real answers for our offense. They'll need to score 50 to beat us.

No. We need to try to score every time, not get cute and try to milk the clock and scoring being secondary.

Of course we can score on every possession but at the same time with 8-15 play drives and eating over 5mins of the clock.
