Things not going well for Joe Rogan

I was thinking about this idea last night. Imagine watching Fear Factor in 2005 when a time traveler from the year 2022 shows up.

Time Traveler: The host of this show will be at the center of a nationwide debate over a vaccine that helped to end a global pandemic. Even President Biden commented on the story.
Me: Oh, that's odd that Rogan is still relevant over 15 years from now, but sure, whatever. Now you mentioned a global pandemic. I hope everything is OK.
TT: No, it's not. Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of people have died just in the United States.
Me: That's terrible! But wait, you said Joe Biden is president. He's always seemed fairly competent so I thought he would be able to handle a major crisis like this.
TT: Well, he was not president when the pandemic first began.
Me: Oh, who was?
TT: Well, you'll want to sit down for this one. You know that show, The Apprentice.

So if he tells the whole story, what's the Over/Under on how many times you call the TT a liar?

Stop and consider how much of our lives during this pandemic has been dictated by former gameshow hosts, including Texas' own Chuck Woolery.  And through it all, we lost the of the best hosts of all time-Alex Trebek, Regis Philbin, and Louie Anderson.

You could tell me today that the Cash Cab guy is running for Senate on a platform of "I'll give you an AR-15 if you carry your baby to full birth!"....and I wouldn't disbelieve you for an instant.

I don't have a real problem with Neal Young pulling his music but I wish Rogan would just change for the better.  Rogan knows his audience, and overall they aren't that bright, IMHO.  He is trying to make money, spotify is trying to make money, Neal Young said, "I may lose money, but damn somebody needs to bring attention to this bullshit."

Funny that the right wing snowflakes that while more mightily than a bitter North wind, think that "this" sort of cancel culture is bad.  I personally don't like cancel culture much at all, but allowing people to vote with their pocketbooks?  Spotify should have seemly told Rogan he needed to better vet his covid related guests and be certain he was not endangering his audience with mis-information.  Rogan could have given his mea culpa and then it all could have gone away.

The problem is that nothing at all was ever going to happen, unless money became involved for Spotify.  Rogan has his deal, and this shit will likely make a good portion of his audience even more loyal IMHO.  Everyone wants the money and nobody wants accountability.  Maybe if you don't want content accountability, you shouldn't get the money?

Did somebody say Old Glory robot scooter insurance?

Yeah, the Fat Shaming movement gets pretty loud and annoying a couple times a year.....but I've never thought of it as overly political.  Kinda like home-schooling parents...it tends to attract both ends of the extreme left and right.  But they don't really advocate for actual policy...just that the media show more obese people modeling underwear and going snowboarding.

csb/ One of my half-sisters who I don't talk to very much has a son...my nephew.  She started herself and him on the "We are healthy at whatever size" bullshit a few years ago and I had to bite my tongue.  I barely speak to her and couldn't open with, "You're fucking with his health and life by telling him that bullshit."  I tried to take him under my wing a few times since he's 14, 5'10" and comfortably over 200 pounds, maybe pushing 250.  That's not good for a kid that age.  So literally as my cousins and I are finally thinking of butting in...voila...she completely drops the idiocy that everything is fine with her and her son's weight...and adopts MAGA as her new cause.  Since then, the kid is still big but at least is hitting the weights and switched from basketball to football where he can be big but in shape.  So thanks Trump, I guess?

The struggle is real.  These kids today won't know the excitement though of getting to the mailbox first and grabbing the VS and hoarding it for yourself.  It was better than a Playboy.  Nowadays, then can queue up whatever porn they want for free in 1080i with no buffer time.  I'm not gonna explain this concept to a teenage kid because it'd be illegal, but imagine telling a 14 year old about watching scrambled cable signals late at night trying to find a tit shot?  Or going to a video store out on the interstate to buy an adult film to watch over and over and over again.

Anyway, the "We won't be shamed at any size" movement has comfortably infiltrated porn.  Every fucking home page is half step family porn and half BBW porn.  Dah fuh?  I get that's some people's fetish, but I think a lot of of stems from fat people insisting they are featured in porn, too.  I like my porn with pornstars who look like pornstars...fake hair, fake eyelashes, fake tits, bright lipstick, thin from too much drug use, and a slightly "rode hard, hung up wet" vibe about them.  That way, they don't really seem like actual human beings to me and I don't feel so bad for what's happening to them while I treat my body like an amusement park.

"Porn at Any Weight"...the movement is real.  And I hate it.

We can look at obesity rates by race.

US has a population of 330 million (actually 329, but I'll round for numbers sake).

US black demographics puts them at about 14.2% of the US population, or around 47 million people

US white demographics puts them at about 75% of the US population, or around 246 million people.

You tell me, what's a larger number: 48% of 47, or 32% of 246?

I'm not sure how an allegedly reasonably prudent person as yourself could honestly imply that ~22,500,000 million people are causing a greater problem than 78,750,000 million people.

Or maybe you're just a dishonest sack of shit.

Yeah, it's not percentage of a race that's obese that taxes a nation's healthcare system, it's gross numbers that do.  80 million obese white people, especially considering how old most of them are getting...are gonna be a real big fucking problem for the U.S. in a few more years.  And they're loud and they vote, so they have to be catered to.

My mother's side of the family (from Mexico, very Hispanix/Latinx---whatever the fuck we're calling it nowadays)...have always been "We're beautiful at every size, and food is our culture and our culture is life" kinda mentality.  But they've never broadcasted it outside the family and certainly never thought to bitch about it to the media or politicians.  Like most socio-cultural movements, the fat thing is driven largely by annoying Karens who just need new and different ways to remind you that they exist and will not be ignored, Dan /glennclosesexyatanyage.  And they have certainly succeeded in the arenas of marketing and TV/movie content.

You could reboot "What's Happening" tv show today and have Raj be a drug kingpin, Dwayne be a football star stereotype, Dee could call everybody the "N" word, but if one person called Rerun "fat"...the fucking show could get cancelled in a week.

I typically like your takes but if you think that the wild-west that is free internet porn is beholden to some politically correct quota or desire to check boxes instead of the obvious alternative that the internet is just serving up in droves what the wicked and dark recesses of the human being want when they think they are alone and nobody will find out...well, Occam's Razor.

The biggest predictor of obesity is not your political party.  It is race and socioeconomic status.

Of course southern states that are poor with large minority populations have high obesity rates.

Yeah probably.  I didn't realize how many people like fat people porn, I guess.  i kinda likened it to when ESPN would show us the WNBA.  They knew we didn't want to watch it, they knew that we knew that they knew we didn't want to watch it, but they showed it anyway...presumably so that we could tell our girlfriends/wives, "See this channel that I'm always watching, they're woke, they're hip, they got women's sports on too."  I'm sure pornhub has at least a few videos they put up there so that the fat shaming movement could say, "hey, we are being represented!"  But yeah, it's 99% fetish content with no agenda other than money.  I'm sure I'll regret asking this question---but is the fetish that fat people like to watch people that look like them fucking?  I mean, sometimes I kinda dig the stuff that's genuinely amateur/homemade with a regular looking couple but of a regular build/weight and no production value.  I get the whole "That could be my wife and I" vibe, but when people are watching really, really fat people fucking...is it because it's so gross or because they like to watch people fuck that look like they look when they're fucking?  I dunno, forget I asked.

Dude. There is a poster here who has a running joke/theme about his fat fetish and he posts pics of big fat girls he meets online and is open with it. Just accept that people have weird sexual fetishes and there is no conspiracy to be perceived as woke or hip or progressive on the chaotic-free-porn-Russian-eastern-euro-serverfarms. It's all about product-market fit and people are sick puppies.

The entire country has an obesity problem, including--and, as you so eloquently point out, especially--minorites.

But whose obesity creates a bigger burden on our society and healthcare system: a few million fat minorites, or 80 million fat white people? Gee, that is a tough one.

"But a few fat black influencers say that 'big is beautiful' and magazines have been pressured to put in the occasional token full-figured model next to a dozen Eastern European models. So it's their fault!"

While we're at it, completely ignore me a third time about your party wanting to string up Michelle Obama for trying to actually help.

Back to the crux of the thread, namely JRE as a podcast on Spotify the technology platform. I read something interesting today about how Spotify is trying to pivot from being an audio service and be an audio-creator:

Spotify isn’t just an audio service — and it’s definitely not a publisher — rather, it’s a full-stop audio-creator company. Ek claims that Spotify has something for everyone and is continuing to invest in tools and resources to hopefully bring in 50 million unique creators. But there’s still no getting around the fact that The Joe Rogan Experience is the top podcast in 90 markets.

I have the piece of shit on ignore, but when he's quoted I can't escape it. This exchange caught my attention.

Teaching the big picture acts of racism in America's past (slavery, segregation, and the response to the Civil Rights Movement) aren't proof that we've overcome racism.

The fact that we aren't teaching the acts that precipitated from those acts (racist G.I. Bill implementation, housing loan discrimination, all the way down to gerrymandering and voting restrictions) are proof that we still have work to do.

CRT tries to address it. I wonder why some try to vilify it.

Sorry for quoting you Captainant. You just quoted the dipshit.
