I still don’t get it.  How did Trump actually gain support compared to 2016? His approval numbers have never been particularly impressive.

did he blame the democrats 10000000000 times for everything literally so much that people actually believed him? Did Nancy Pelosi get blamed for not reaching a deal on stimulus despite the GOP controlling 2 other branches of government? Do people really think Biden is a socialist

im just throwing random thoughts out there because I don’t get it.  Trump is an idiot, a moron, and he doesn’t even like this job. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Brisket was right and this country is even more broken than we thought. The ugliness is completely out in the open now.

The only toss-up there was the 2nd, which he lost. Everything else was totally expected.

Yep, lots of folks gonna owe Brisket a mea culpa.

Regardless of the outcome, I'm done w/ America.  We are shit and I have no problem w/ the misery headed our way.  We fist-fucking deserve it.

At least a second trump term will kill off a lot of his old supporters...so a bit of a silver lining.

They are absentee ballots, sleep my child.

I know, and my head knows they're likely to break for Biden, but with such a small margin in a red county, I need to see it for myself. I know it's not Brown County votes, but instead Green Bay City votes, which broke for Clinton +3, but I need to see that 7K stretch to 20K before I'll feel good.

It makes perfect sense. You are looking at this from the standpoint of someone who is educated. It is literally impossible for you to get in the mindset of the Trump voter unless you've been having dialogue with them. If you have you know it's pretty simple. Trump lies and they believe him. Most people don't know anything about politics. They know a couple bullet points, and that's about all. So you can flat out lie and they will believe you.

What’s weird though is that this seems like a better explanation for 2016 than 2020. In 2016 Trump lied about a lot of shit but pretty consistently stayed on message about how Hillary couldn’t be trusted, the Dems were bad on trade, etc. He actually spoke a lot to what white working class voters wanted.

There wasn’t really any of that this time around. He was never on message and the overwhelming majority of the time he just rambled about personal grievances and weird Fox News conspiracy theories that nobody outside of his base was familiar with.

I saw three things Biden said that Trump latched onto and hammered on.

1.  Biden Tax Plan - the 62% marginal vote in NYC for those making over 400,000 was hammered home repeatedly.  To be clear: Only the 1% make over 400k per year in this country.  You only pay tax on your taxable income, not your gross income, and with the rollbacks of the SALT deduction cap, and other deductions that were removed, I would think that this would really only impact those whose gross income is significantly in excess of 400k.  But that is all very complicated and the average American does not understand that.

2.  Oil and Gas Comments - Yeah, that was unfortunate becuase what most people do not understand is that something is going to have to replace it, and whatever that is will create massive amounts of opportunity for a lot of people.  We saw it with the rise of the oil and gas industry 150 years ago, and we will see it again with the green industry.  Again, a lot of people that do not know history, and the nuance of this is complicated, so again, something the American electorate has a hard time comprehending.

3.  Coronavirus and the shut downs - I think Trump hammered this home.  You are worse off economically becuase of the shutdowns which were ordered by the Democrats. We have seen that there are still a LOT OF PEOPLE who do not think Coronavirus is a big deal by the refusal to wear masks.  I think this was the biggest driver in places like RGV in Texas, but then again, I might be wrong.

It’s 3:45 AM and I just woke up from a nightmare where the election finished in a virtual tie settled weeks after the fact by the courts.
Anyway, where’d we end up with the election?
Lol I had the same dream. That would just be fucking perfect.

I'd hold off on that assessment until the absentee ballots are counted

Or, country is full of not very fine people.

Another pathway that seems possible right now.

arizona + Michigan + Georgia

A pathway without Pennsylvania is still very appealing because of trumps massive vote lead there.

Yea, they were totally going to vote Dem if he paid more attention to them.

I’m starting to think that the Dems have too many coalitions to appease. Republicans can get by with white males and evangelicals.

This assumes WI?

At this point I think Biden is a favorite to win every state left except NC. Narrowly, particularly in the cases of WI, NV, and GA, but I think he's able to get it done.

That’s a good explanation, but it still exposes how stupid most Americans are.

#1 ) I agree. It was a fear tactic. Biden’s tax plan doesn’t affect nearly as many people as trump said it would.

#2) it looks like the oil and gas comments did hurt Biden. The end of the 2nd debate really sucked. Honestly, Biden was shaky in both debates.

#3) don’t people forget that Trump actually did shut down the country in march? One of Trumps favorite tactics is to do something bad or unpopular than blame the other side for it. Uninformed people buy it without doing the research to see whose really responsible then on and on we go.

My daughter just came down to go to school....lol

Concur

The Republican leadership has not come out and supported Trump's call to stop counting so I am assuming they are pretty confident Biden is going to win.

Pennsylvania is also the most susceptible to SCOTUS ratfuckery simply due to how many votes are still uncounted.

CNN only has Biden up in WI by 7k.

I generally keep my politics off Facebook, but having already had to explain the tax numbers to two of my traders earlier that day, when a friend of mine (who is well educated) stated something on the tax plan, I jumped in.  I refrained from saying something to the effect of, "I pay more in state and local taxes in a year than you make in a year," but it was a close call.  People are really fucking dumb.

See, I deserve a promotion.

Every time I ask for a promotion and a raise, my boss just keeps giving me projects to do.... saying shit like, ‘If you can execute this, you’ll be able to get that promotion and more $.’

Bitch, I asked for a promotion and more $! I didn’t ask for more work!

LISTEN! Why won’t he listen?!

I have the worst boss in the world.

CNN just changed WI to 11k Biden lead.  Brown County at 95% reported where Green Bay is located.

It seems like Pennsylvania is the decider and I don’t see how Biden makes up that much of a gap, even with philly and surrounding areas still out. The Biden lead in those areas isn’t big enough.

It’s not the decider.

Have you been living under a rock?

Wisconsin and Michigan look good.  Nevada and Arizona should be put away. Biden still has a decent shot at Georgia.

He wins with Wisc, Mich, Nevada, AZ and that one Maine district

Trump lead in Michigan down to 46K.  Wayne County is only at 55% done.  Detroit should push Biden ahead.

So I assume the odds/betting markets have seen blue shifts as well?

Bovada Biden - 220
