he's already old and has all the momentum going his way , it makes no fucking sense for anyone like hoping lightning to strike twice

Not sure, and neither are you.

No one knows.  At his time at Texas he hasn't been in this particular scenario. The rest is all speculation and trying to pattern-match the past with the present and future.

Yes, he's had some shitty teams, but he improved them every year until now.

Did he fix everything all at once?  Nope.  But he improved.

Now he's dealing with self-inflicted problems.  He's probably going to get the chance to fix that, too, due to money and circumstances.

Some issues have been present throughout Sarks career.

Penalties, under performance from top rated QBs, offensive line issues, red zone issues, in game adjustment issues and player development. They've never improved and pretty easy to argue that they've gotten markedly worse in some cases.

So while there have absolutely been improvements in results and elsewhere, there are equally glaring issues that are pretty fundamental parts of coaching that have show zero improvement.

I’m not on the gram so idk. Did his story contain any additional details?

It's definitely worth the watch.  I didn't think Howard had the brain capacity to walk and talk at the same time.  Boy was I wrong.

Would be great news.  He's saying Loreal wants to leave or cost him this job.

I completely disagree. It's amazing how quick some of forgot the 12 years of suck. We are one bad hire again from sucking like with Strong. Sark is not perfect but be careful what you think is great news.

going 1-7 against the top 5 is the same situation regardless of whether or not it's buried inside 10-2 or 8-4

An acceptable alternative would be for him to hire an OC so he’s only calling some plays and replace Flood and Banks.

Of course it did not.  This is Desmond Fucking Howard...he's devoid of any details.

Laughable that anyone with an ounce of brainpower gives 1 second of thought to anything that retarded dipshit says.

Seems like semantics to me. I thought we ran it well when we did, however we didn’t run it enough.

Exactly. We ran well (33 yards on first drive) until our offensive super genius intentionally abandoned it

He just signed a huge extension with Indiana 30 days ago

LSU's dumber hires, Miles and Orgeron, have NCs to show for it.

I mean, Kiffin's gotta believe he's a better HC than those two numb-skulls.

Leadership issues, be damned, LA has a built-in talent advantage like no other. Otherwise, why would Kelly leave ND? Who's got an easier road to the CFB playoffs?

On this topic, Charlie Strong was the product of a systematic, professional search, for whatever that's worth.

Herman was a spasm of BMD, I think.

No one knows for sure, but I think Eltife and Hartzell took Saban's recommendation of Sark and thought it made sense, while CDC was doing something else, Franklin or Dykes.

Mack was Hicks' guy while Deloss was interviewing Barnett.

It's not LSU-level shitshow, but it's not been a model of analytical consistency or well-defined responsibility.  And two of LSU's dumber hires, Miles and Orgeron, have NCs to show for it.

This is my general understanding as well.

There wasn't a lot of interest in the job after the way everything went down with Mack. He really is an epic piece of shit and I cant believe hes allowed to snoop around the program again. Fuck that guy. Powers advocated for Strong because he wanted a black coach. Dont know how much of a difference that made in actually hiring him but Ive heard donors say it.

A Dallas group is who fumbled the situation with Saban and drove the Patterson hire at AD. The pendulum swung back to Houston and we ended up with Herman as a result. The story of him and his wife showing up to a cocktail reception in Houston right after the deal was done is hilarious. Herman bolted straight to the bar when he got there and ordered a vodka and ice in a pint glass.

Eltife and Hartzell put a good bid together from multiple cities but missed out on Meyer. I heard a big part of the reason they landed on Sark is because they were determined to fix the QB situation that had plagued us for so long.

Shouldnt be hard to figure out who will be making the next hire if we make one. NIL drives the bus now, as it should in my opinion. We will only go as far as our NIL support takes us, just like everyone else now. Love it or hate it, thats cfb today.

His buyout is only $15M… but the bidding war is going to be gnarly

Honestly I’d want Marcus Freeman, dude is a beast on the recruiting trail and already dabbles in Texas not to add he and can flat out coach.

Get him a big time OC and DC at Texas with no restrictions like he has at Notre Dame.

Some people choose or maybe can't help let fear of change guide them away from making fundamental changes that would help.

It's far too common in the corporate world. I could tell you tons of stories about CEOs, to CTOs to Directors of IT, etc that recognize their own issues. Sometime they clearly know the cause of those issues. Yet, even when offered an alternative that would alleviate those issues they choose the devil they know rather than the alternative.

While I openly acknowledge the HC decision making process at Texas is absolutely flawed I also firmly believe Sark is unwilling or unable to fundamentally alter his historic coaching choices to get us even with the top teams in college football.

I don't believe in aggie mindframe of making a playoff is fantastic.

Winning a championship is fantastic and Steve, in the entirety of his career has a single Big XII championship. Conversely, he has consistently shown a shit ton of fundamental issues and has yet to express, at any point, any willingness whatsoever to alter his approach. (Fear of change or unwilling to acknowledge flaws)

I'm confident he will continue on his current path and trajectory. As such, I view the potential upside of a new coach worth the risk even given the potential downside of Texas' HC process and history. (No fear of change)

Geezus. Desmond Howard is fucking her, too?

Dude has a Heisman, had a NFL career, is still in good shape and now a media career.

There are zero "influencers" that wouldn't jump all over that CV.

Sark's buyout is $36M after next year. Aren't we still paying something to Herman? We're not taking on a $15M buyout and a $12M+ annual salary to get Cignetti. Not a chance.

Sounds good. Let's do it. But there's basically zero chance Freeman leaves Notre Dame for any other college job, much less ours.

Buyout may not matter.

All I would say to that is , you’re right but what if we were the Georgia, and Sark is our Mark Richt? Do we stay with Sark just cause we’re back winning or do we want more??
