Conspiracy theory time.  I have ATT fastest internet package, latest equipment etc... everything streams fine at 4k on all aps except YTTV now.  It constantly drops to 8 bit resolution now.  I am just running everything through the samsung smart TV.

It is even possible for ATT to be fucking with YTTV content specifically?  When I had a fubo trial, I could get the WS game in 4k on both yttv and fubo.  Fubo was rock solid.  Yttv would frequently drop down to lower resolution.

It is certainly possible, but unlikely. YTTV works fine for me (except for ABC/ESPN of course).

I bought rabbit ears this morning. I’m done playing their games. I’ll pirate if a game is on ESPN.

Regular YouTube has most CFB games 🏴‍☠️ with generally the first search result being the game.

Go cart racing back in the day was pretty good too.

There's still a good amount of karting on these days, just not on ESPN. I have quite a few kart races on my yttv dvr. Really great stuff. The purest racing we have left.

My Fubo trial ended and I didn't renew.  UI sucks ass, fast forwarding is a nightmare without being able to see what you are skipping and that is a deal breaker.

Went to Hulu Live TV...UI is a lot better, we were already used to it with just Hulu.  Some annoying shit though, the apps are different enough to notice which platform you are watching on...the one on our Firestick doesn't have a Live tab making watching TV much more difficult.  Once you find your show it's the same and has the program guide type view you'd expect there's just no tab for it.

It also occasionally forces an ad, even though we are paying for no ads.  Finally, whether or not it records something is hit or miss so far which is less than ideal.  And, no multi view which I'd really gotten used to on Saturdays when Texas was not playing.

I am seriously considering going back to Spectrum.

Yeah when you fast forward ESPN broadcasts (dunno about other networks) on Hulu, you can FF to whatever spot you want, but when you hit play, they make you sit through the last commercial break, even when there are no actual ads there, which is often the case on, say, a volleyball match. YTTV doesn't do that. They don't even do that on the ESPN app.

I don't think YouTube is playing itself there.

Hulu is garbage. The interface sucks. It is fucking impossible to just find a channel compared to Youtube TV.

Yeah, I found that out pretty quickly while using my friend's login. It's piss.

Because of this thread, did the sling day pass.  Live in Austin.  They show the ABC games via espn 3 since they don’t have KVUE.  Easy fix for the time being.  $6 and change for 24 hours

100% agree! "Upgraded" to ESPN Unlimited this morning and switching between games is a cluster fuck.

That's what I'm doing today. I really like YouTube TV, so I'm keeping the subscription active for now. But if this doesn't get resolved by next weekend, I'll probably pause the subscription or cancel and roll with Sling day passes.

Mouse got my money. Upgraded to unlimited from select. Best I can read, there’s no contract on my end so i can change back if they get it worked with yttv, which is also now on the clock to adjust pricing accordingly as i shop alternatives.

This was my point above. Am now into the second weekend of other things. I’m better off after quitting  smoking back in the day and I’ll be better off for quitting my sports media addiction.

I am seriously considering going back to Spectrum.

I'm considering that as an alternative option as well, but not 100% sold on that idea just yet. Mainly, I have to do the math on it, and see how that setup would have to be. Especially if I have to have a different box. Their package with RSN's and the channels the wife "has to have", ends up putting us on their "top" tier @ 165/mo. So that alone is $75 higher than YTTV (granted, it has more channels), however it also includes streaming subs that I currently pay for which would offset that difference. Of course they're the ad supported versions, which I'm not sure if you can pay the difference or not. Sometimes you can, sometimes not. However, dropping those services and going with the ad versions that are included would offset that $75 difference, and maybe a hair more. We're talking total spent overall, of course. DTV would be similar, but without half the apps that spectrum offers. Wouldn't need any type of box, and they have all their channels in their streaming app.

However I'm quite surprised at what I'm seeing there. Guess finding out they have a lot of stiff competition can do that. When I last had spectrum 3 years ago, I was paying $315/mo for tv/internet, plus any streaming services I had at the time. So this thing their offering now is half what it was at that time, give or take.

DirectTV would be $125, but missing paramount+ and hbo subs. They do give you a sub to hulu/dis+/espn unlim, so some savings there I guess, but again, have to math it out at $35 higher than YTTV and not sure my dis/hulu subs cover all that. Still end up having to pay for paramount and peacock, but I think either a card or something else has paramount as a "perk", but of course none of those freebies are ad-free.

Guess it's time to do some math, and see what I can find that will meet the wife approval factor.

I couldn't make the DTV math work when I last tried... Even with ATT lines and home Internet, it didn't pencil. I may look again to see if it's close...

But I'm also thinking...

Yeah, I have some mathin’ to do myself.

But RSN’s are a perk for sure. Saves $20 on that app alone.

Of course YTTV/Mouse will sort it out right after I switch. And apparently, cable cards are on their way out, so makes local dvr options different if a box has to be had (spectrum.)

If I can stream all their shit, it’s an option at least.

Been using a dtv login since the outage, and it’s fine. Have to look at how many streams they allow and that type of stuff, same for spectrum.

(Basically have to build my case as to why I’m inconveniencing the wife 🙄

There is a live tab on the left side that functions just like the program guide we've all been used to from the days of the first set top boxes.  Originally it was not showing up for me on fire stick but reinstalling fixed this.

Interesting. I just looked it up as well. Looks like both spectrum and dtv allow unlimited streams on your home network, and 3 streams away from home. That's a win over yttv. Not a huge one, but helpful.

My unscientific results so far:

YTTV

Fubo

Directv

I don’t like the DTV interface and if they have multiview I can’t find it. Also “record all college football” doesn’t really work, I had to manually add several other games. And I had to add another sports package to get all the ESPN channels. That said, they do still have the option for channel numbers which could finally get my parents off of Uverse.

Spectrum Xumo (remote) and box is $5/mo.

So. Went to bite the bullet and upgrade to Hulu + live TV.  Strange, it's not showing up as an option.  After 15 mins poking around trying to give them my money stumble into an FAQ that says I need to cancel my disney + plan then cancel my hulu plan.  Then wait until the end date of the monthly plan to expire and then I can sign up for hulu live TV.  WTF?

I had an existing disney account then added hulu later and then they merged.. but they cannot figure this out?  Did sling day pass.

How do you access it?

For now, it's "up to" 7 (most everbody gets 5) diff channels that have a pre-defined selection. I guess Phase 2 rollout is coming and will allow for picking your own mix. Haven't read yet about when the next updates come out. May/may not be a hotter priority with football season currently, as they already pushed out the "predefined channels" option.

The "mix" channels are low 900's (on my guide, specifically 910, 912, 915, 920, 921)

I tried to upgrade my bundle through the espn app. It said I had to use the Hulu app and redirected me there. In the Hulu app, it didn’t see my bundle and only offered me changes to the Hulu plan. So on my own I tried the Disney plus site and that’s where I had the options i expected.

so mouse has this all nice and seamless.

Anyone thinking of going back to spectrum get ahold of yourself.

sling day pass is the way right now, then if you have to sling has the packages including networks. Or find another way. But the termination process with spectrum is bullshit don’t do it.

We have the Hulu and Disney+ package. Was thinking I might just add the ESPN unlimited to that instead of Sling, but seeing this is pushing me to the Sling Day Pass option.

Agreed, DTV is wayyyyyy too expensive.

The funny thing is the longer this go the more I realize, fuck them, I really don't need them .

Without Texas playing this weekend I've been just watching whatever gets served up on Fox and CBS.  YTTV  got it's lead due to being a better product and it sucks that Disney is trying to force us into their inferior options.  I've tried every service in the past with free trials and nothing was better than YTTV. Google annoys me in other ways like limiting my youtube premium to just people in my household when I pay for 6 streams and other such bullshit but YTTV is the best live TV option.  Will being doing sling day pass next weekend if this doesn't get resolved.
