One of my "why hasn't anyone else thought of this?" ideas is that grocery stores need to sort avocados into 4 bins:

Bin 1: Overripe. Sold at a discount. Use for guacamole or avocado spread. Must use immediately.

Bin 2: Ripe. Use that same day or the next morning.

Bin 3: Almost Ripe. Possibly ready within 24 hours. Perfect in ~36 hours.

Bin 4: Far from Ripe. Ready no sooner than 48 hours from now.

Seen something similar to what you’re suggesting at some HEBs (when it’s open of course).

Benjamin Leighton Matlock is a fictional character from the television series, Matlock, played by Andy Griffith. Matlock is a renowned, folksy yet cantankerous defense attorney who is worth every penny of his $100,000 fee.

I think he was just pointing out that 4 of those people aren't even lawyers.

Anyone who watched TV in the 80s-90s should know Perry Mason and Matlock are the ones to call.

There is some truth in there.

My son spent years fucking around with jr. college and shitty part time jobs waiting for someone to make him a billionaire for his gaming skillz.

When that didn't pan out, he took a cue from his cousin (who dropped out of UTD engineering school to be an apprentice electrician) and started learning the plumbing business.

He makes way more now than I did at his age and his cousin makes almost double.

Speaking of ripe, I saw in Japan they sell bananas in packages of how ripe they are. Instead of all of them being the same and becoming more ripe together, each day that goes by, you will have the perfect banana to eat. I eat them everyday and there is a sweet spot I prefer. Would love to see that here. Every store I go to, the bananas in the sets are all the same. Even if they have them where you can individually pick them out, not enough variation to have it to how the packages in Japan I've seen.

LOL. Windows are a little tight, but okay.

At my local grocery store, they have 2 bins:

Ready right now.

Ready in a few days

I remember in Elementary school the local HS booster club provided paper school book covers for school/team/town spirit.
Talking mid-late 70s.

Hook’em!!!

Cause Heb isn’t going to pay somebody to sort avocados into the 4 different bins when a customer is going to come along right behind them and fuck it all up.

While it is a fine parable for todays youth, these examples have literally nothing to do with boomer logic like in the post you quoted.

The very first boomer quote about young people not understanding how the world works is accurate for my "parable"... coasting through HS on Cs and Ds, a new shitty part time job every month and dropping out of jr. college to focus on your gaming resume will not make you a 25 year old millionaire, despite what social media teaches us.

Butter Krust and Big Red at Lake Travis Elementary circa '81. The Big Reds usually got snapped-up first.

Power company handed out covers featuring Reddy Kilowatt, who promised that if we let them build Nuclear Power plants, electricity would be so cheap they wouldn't even bother with putting meters on your house.

You mean "Butt rust" bread.

That BIC pen worked magic, if it didn't explode in pocket.
