  • This postseason has become more sentimental for me and my wife's family.  My father in law is the biggest Astros fan I know.  He watches every game without fail, even DVRing them if he can't watch liv

Shit. I wake up with that every day.

One goddam hit?

But it was some kids first MLB hit ever so that was cool. Would have been cooler if it was hit 3 feet higher as it would have been a HR, it slammed into the wall in RF.

Averaging roughly 3 hits and 1/3 of a run in this weekend's games.

Maybe get a leadoff runner home?

Maybe Mancini needs to be the one to break the spell

Gurriel used to be so good at bringing the runner in from 3rd.  He'll probably find a way to hit into a DP

Y'all keep talking shit about Yuli

Phew. Always gotta be some 9th inning drama, huh?

Whatevs, glad to salvage a W after flailing for 24 straight innings.

weekend was pretty much a worst-case scenario and the yankees didn't gain.  can't ask for much more.

can we put yordan on the il retroactive to the last time he homered?

Well we do need to open some spots on the    40 man. I know it hasn’t been 60 days since his last homer but it sure feels that way.

Forrest Whitley struck out 7 over 4 innings for Sugar Land last night. He touched 99.6 MPH with the fastball and generated 14 swings and misses. #Astros #AstrosFuture

Trying Brown in a bullpen/piggyback role? If so, I like it. As the baseball nerds have pointed out upthread, the Astros have to add Brown before September 1 for him to be postseason eligible. The next 3 days are going to be interesting.

Does Whitley get the sept call up ?

He’s on the 40. Seems like it should be Brown but if not him Whitley seems a better upside option than anyone down there.
hasn’t exactly earned it but stuff is stuff

Is that the first time Brown has been the 2nd pitcher in a tandem start?

No. But it is the first time he’s come in to pitch during the middle of an inning

One thing I noticed on the Sugar Land box score is that Lew Brlnson is having a heckuva year, slashing .299/.356/.574 with 22 homers and 63 RBIs. Unfortunately, he’s the poster of a  AAAA player. But he’s an outfielder already on the 40-man. Just sayin.

Hasn’t he had a lot of mlb action and shit the bed repeatedly?

That’s the guy thus my AAAA comment.  He has 1035 MLB ABs, hitting .199 with a .571 OPS. I’m certainly not advocating for him.

Thought it was the guy but wasn’t positive.
yeah- 1000 AB’s is, by all accounts, what most development guys believe tell the story of what a guy is. Good for him I guess for sticking around and chasing the dream.

He’s 28 and still striking out in 28% of his PAs in AAA. The dude has talent but has never been able to hit well enough to be a legit MLB player.
