well that's deflating.  I thought it was low but too close to take

Absolutely. This is not a well coached team. But we’re closing to squaring this guy up. All roses and sunshine.

Comparing ERAs from 1998 of all years is remarkably dumb. That was the year that resulted in changing the game away from gorilla ball given how out of control it got.

also, Texas baseball didn’t exist from 1994-2001.

also, fuck that ump for that strike three call. Complete horseshit.

That's a reasonably good point. Try any other year.

Reckon got a call on Daly’s ball 4 and gave it back with Ivan. Love a team down 6 looking at essentially 3 strike 3’s in an inning with hodo too. Bunch of pussies today

yeah. sucks, but someone needs to tell our guys that blue is calling big strikes on us so swung the fucking bat.

We have played so far like we were just happy to be here.  No urgency, no real game plan at the plate for 2 straight games.  Just haven't been sharp mentally.  That will get you beat.

No, no and no.

The game plan has been fine the last two games. Plenty of traffic on the bases and balls hit right at dudes. We’ve put guys in position to do damage and it just hasn’t happened. Look at the number of base runners left on base.

The “happy to be here” shit is so tiring. This team is filled with dudes who were on the doorstep of winning it all last year. It’s baseball. You can get beat with a good game plan. The other team can get a few more breaks and send you home. It happens. This team hasn’t mailed it in or quit all year so saying they are just happy to be here and not locked in is just not true.

But re: the pitch framing, if an umpire is looking at where the ball is caught, then he's just 100% not doing his job. Plain and simple. Where the catcher catches the ball is completely irrelevant and should have no influence whatsoever on the call. It's pretty mind-bottling that framing ever works, but it works a ridiculous amount.

That would be one last friend of mine...........oh an Murph is sucking.

Yep. I can have aggy friends if they aren't jackasses & talk stupid shit about sports (which eliminates about 99.9% of them). As soon as they spout off tho, they're dead to me.

Fans saying Ivan's pitch was "too close to take" would have been screaming about how it was out of the zone had he swung and missed.

No. You absolutely cannot put a game in blue’s hands at 32 with bases juiced down 6 regardless of your name but even more of an egregious error when your nickname his Hispanic Titanic.

When the pitch has been called a ball the entire game including to the preceding batter then you shouldn’t be chasing it

Did you see the pitch, it wasn't a borderline strike. It was clearly low.

This is also exhibit A as to why Augie and Gus never really wavered from small ball, although it’s hard to play that style when you have little confidence in your pitching

Yea but it’s just basic baseball. Pressure creates chances. I’m not saying we should always play Augie/Gus style small ball, but we absolutely should do way more to apply pressure. This is college baseball, players make mistakes. Force teams to make plays with runners in scoring position and give yourself a chance.

That’s not been a strike all season. He has 70 games to realize they aren’t calling that a strike. Now if you’re talking about an outside corner, that’s a different story.

Had the pitch been an inch or two higher, I'd have to agree with you. But it wasn't, so I don't.

100%. Team is trying to grind it’s just not happening. Anyone that has played sports and understands focus and how winning flows knows what it’s like to grind and it just not happen. It’s the number one thing coaches, players and sports psychologists try to do - find the flow, the zone as quickly as possible. It didn’t happen this weekend and that sucks. But want to? Yeah they wanted to win they didn’t show up thinking it was in the bag.
