Reading this thread from the Prague airport is especially entertaining.

Sorry, I should've written "PRG."

Was just there on vacation two weeks ago. Beautiful city, can't wait to go back.

Don't know about the airport though, we drove in with friends from Leipzig then took a bus to Vienna after a couple of days.

Not the right thread for this, but this morning Bobby and Gerry were hinting at portal news and said they would have an update this afternoon.  Anybody know anything? @closetojumping  @FreeHorn @someguy?

Berger came through last week.  I believe he was an inside LB at Stanford?  I think he left Stanford and transferred to Texas as a student in 2024?  Not really much to be excited about.

Jayden Warren is someone I hope they take a look at. 6’1 200 ran a 10.13.  if you're looking for traits 10.1 is a good trait to have.

prettt cool that he has 10.1 speed and 10.2 speed.  like if 10.2 isn’t getting it done he can bump it up to 10.1 when he needs that little extra.  sign this kid.

Dia Bell says LSU is still trying to come after him

Quote

Miami Gardens, Fla. — Historically, high-rated quarterbacks from South Florida have not been plentiful, but perhaps five-star 2026 quarterback Dia Bell could be the start of a trend of QBs in the area to have success on the next level.
“I feel like we have some of the most athletic players in the country and some of the hungriest,” Bell said of South Florida football players at the Miami Dolphins Media Day on Saturday. “Not everybody comes from the best places down here, and football is their outlet, and they use it to help their family situations, and you get a different type of animal when you recruit South Florida.”
The Texas commit is hungry to prove himself after a season-ending leg injury last year, where he had to find ways to support his team.
“It made me focus on football in a different manner. I had to help the team in every capacity I could; unfortunately, it wasn’t playing. I couldn’t leave my guys high and dry, knowing we had to finish the job. It was definitely difficult. I had to take it step by step, day by day, to attack it and get back to where I want to be.”
Bell has fully recovered from his injury, as evidenced by his win in the Elite 11 competition in June.
“In my mind, I feel one hundred percent. I’m ready to go, I’m ready to play,” Bell said. “I’m happy where I’m at. Everything else feels great. Sitting in the pocket, you feel a little bit antsy after you just got hurt. The more I play, the more I get back into it, since I hadn’t played in a while, and the more I get comfortable. It’s been a process, and it’s going well so far.”
Bell has perhaps started a trend of South Florida football players heading to Austin. South Florida talents James Johnson and Derrek Cooper have both committed to Texas over the last month. Johnson is the top defensive tackle and Cooper is the top running back in the 2026 class.
“I love it,” Bell said of the South Florida players committing to the Longhorns. “Why wouldn’t I want to play against guys I grew up playing against? I’ve been a big part of helping recruit down here. Me committing to Texas, being from South Florida, was a big footstep in the right direction for them to be able to expand into the state and recruit better, knowing they came from the Big 12 to the SEC. I’m very excited to be able to play with those guys.”
The relationship with the Texas staff remains strong, and Bell is looking to improve further the 2026 class, which ranks fifth in the country.
“I talk to them three times a week,” They are basically my coaches that aren’t coaching me yet. I talked to those guys all the time. I have great relationships with every single one of them. I’m trying to build better relationships with some of the guys on the team and some of the guys who are coming in the class with me, and on top of that, we are still trying to recruit people. My relationship with them has always been great.”
Bell will be in Dallas for the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma on October 11th and is planning to visit Austin for its home game versus Vanderbilt on November 11th. There is one SEC school that is hanging around in his recruitment.
“It’s really LSU. They’ve always been there. I’ve always had a great relationship with [offensive coordinator] Coach [Joe] Sloan. He’s still chipping away, trying to get me to come out, but I have not made any plans to visit LSU at this point.”
Bell is preparing for another tough schedule with American Heritage Plantation. Last season, the Patriots opened the season with a loss to Milton (GA), but finished the season 12-2 with their only other loss to Chaminade-Madonna.
“I feel like last year we had a similar schedule in regards to how difficult it was and how it set us up in the long run. I feel like playing the number two team in the country, which, in my opinion, was the number one team in the country, week one, on ESPN, gave us a gauge of where we were at, and after that, it was kind of rocky, but I feel like the STA [St. Thomas Aquinas] game win, we ended up pulling that one off, that was the turning point when everyone realized we’re going to go do this. Regardless if someone gets an injury we’re all going to hold it down and do our piece to get the ring.”
Heritage will open its 2025 season against McArthur in week zero and officially start the year hosting the top-ranked Pennsylvania program, St. Joseph’s Prep.

I’m assuming those are some numbers associated with Kreul. If they were ever true (I doubt the 40 time at any point in his HS career), you don’t think measurables can change in 2+ years for a 15 year old?

10 seconds on Google, shows better numbers, 4.62.

Sounds like our late push is making OU expend valuable cap room to secure a guy that probably wouldn't make the 2 deep for us for a couple of years.  I'm fine with that

I can see a world where Venables goes and throws a bitch fit in Nagy's office about not getting him elite talent and Nagy deciding to dive back into this recruitment.

I think at this point I'm cheering for OU to spend a fuck ton of money to get the tweener.

They are desperate for recruiting win. I can definitely see them going over the top for this one. Might as well. No one else wants what little money they have.

Bobby:

Not the news many want to hear, but In this day and age of recruiting, things can change fast.

As of this minute, sources tell OTF that IMG Academy edge Jake Kreul will likely pick Oklahoma over Texas and Ole Miss tomorrow afternoon.

The Sooners seem to have prioritized Kreul. Texas already has one of the nation's top defensive ends pledged in Richard Wesley.

Where does Texas go from here?

Texas definitely wants two defensive ends in this recruiting season.

The Horns will likely wait things out until the season gets underway. Then, they will identify and bring a few players in for official visits in-season.
