The fuck you getting from DoorDash at 4am?

You have been a drunk/high college kid at some point in your life, right? I can’t imagine how much weight I would’ve gained if I had the option to have anything delivered to me after a party rather than having to decide if the walk was worth the effort

You didn't have pizza or wings that could be delivered? Dafaq? Where did you go to college?

So I haven’t followed this story after the initial arrest. Is there a motive established?  Was he the guy stalking one of the victims?

Nothing is known publically on that front.

Even without the DNA on the knife sheath, the circumstantial case is still pretty damning.

Leaves Pullman headed in the direction of Moscow in the early morning hours. Turns off phone or puts in airplane mode.

His car or similar car is scene driving down the road in front of the house several times. It connects to the their WiFi.

Car is seen leaving the area after the murders. He takes a complete different route home that takes him miles out out of the way. Turns back on his phone and connects to a VPN.
Google searches for Ka Bar knives found.

Was kicked out of his PhD program for his treatment towards women.

Eyebrows match the description from of one the survivors.

Internet research posts about how it felt to kill people.

His car was in the vicinity of the crime scene 12 times leading up to the murder.

when he was arrested, he didn’t ask “what for” only “have they arrested anyone else”.

and that’s all that has been released. I’m sure the prosecutors have much more. Either he did it or he’s the unluckiest person in history.

Wait, so he's been there and connected to their wifi before? Did he have a previous or friendly relationship with them?

In my experience my wifi only automatically connects to wifis I've previously manually connected to (password authenticated).

I think it was “open” so anyone could join it automatically connect while searching. Just saw it was Kaylee’s dad who let that slip. They know way more than the public.

Wow what good fortune that the only people to be ignorant enough to have their wifi network be open as that is VERY damning evidence and should just about wrap her up if I was on the jury.

holy fucking shitballs.

also sounds like the parents of the victims were blindsided by this. I’ve always believed he was guilty as fuck and deserved the fire squad awaiting him. Still…3 years later basically and they bypass the family members when they had a pretty damn good case against this destined to be fish food loser.

Meh. Death penalty cases are extremely costly and consume a ton of resources. Plea deal for life without parole to avoid a lengthy trial makes a ton of sense for the state. In the long run, it’s also a ton cheaper to incarcerate someone for life than it is to go through the process to execute someone.

Yep.  It's a very good deal for the state to make.  The only thing it misses out on is vengeance for the family (which 1) I understand COMPLETELY their desire for vengeance, but 2) that's really not a business the state should be in).

I don’t need him to go on and on like the BTK did but I would hope the deal requires him to say more than just guilty and offer up the how and the why. But who knows.

Can part of his plea deal include a clause that he can’t “tell his side of the story” to every Netflix/Hulu documentarian that comes to call? This fucking shitstain nerd is going to get off on the infamy. Meanwhile the families have to sit and deal with it.

The parents of the victims are world class pissed and supposedly want the Judge to delay his decision to accept the plea deal when they have the hearing on Wednesday. At least two sets of parents wanted him to face trial (Xana and Kalyee’s parents) so I don’t know if that will factor into the judge’s decision. Reporters are still trying to get the terms of this deal so I am assuming it’s not an Alford Plea and he will have to admit guilt and I suppose the how and why which would honestly be better than years of appeals or some kind of antic at trial that causes a mistrial and further delays.

the BK defenders are super quiet on X. Allegedly he wrote letters to the family members of the victims. Trying to get all of this confirmed but it all comes from very reliable sources who have covered this story in depth from day one,

Wish that could happen, but BK likely will get more attention and fame if plea deal goes through.  He also gets to continue college and criminal studies on taxpayers' dime.

Guess Dateline and Netflix stuff are causing this plea deal -- the prosecution may be scared to go to trial???

Sure hope BK has to supply location of murder weapon and details of the crime...

IMO, plea deals don't involve the "how or why." Simply a plea of guilty or No Contest to the agreed upon charges.

Guess it depends on the jurisdiction, but federal pleas, for example, require a factual "resume" or statement in support of the plea.  They can get fairly detailed and can be the subject of considerable negotiation, at least in part because certain fact findings can affect sentencing, etc.

I don't know that any of them supply sufficient detail to satisfy crime nuts or victim's families.

And, if the plea is LWOP, or even life, versus death, I think the families start to lose standing to object.  Those are not objectively lenient sentences and I don't think victims/survivors should exert that level of influence over the sentence, nor should they be able to force the state to a trial.

Yeah, have heard multiple legal comments today that the victims families likely have no right to stop this plea deal -- it's up to the prosecution and judge.

Probably true, but I was meaning in the "moral" or "prudential" sense.  The criminal justice system doesn't exist to redress the injuries or grievances of the victims.  Is consideration of their interests and desires worthwhile?  Yes, but I think the notion of "victim's rights" has gone a bit overboard recently.

Gotcha... also crazy, but I'm sure the cost of a long trial for the state also factors into this plea.

Wonder how much money has already been spent on this trial over the last 2 1/2 years for both the prosecution & defense???

Fuck that he's guilty as fuck and is admitting it. This is how much this piece of shit's death penalty case should cost beyond today. I know a lot of lawyer fees will be missed out on but what's the point?

Yeah, expensive, especially for death penalty, risky (both as to actual conviction and sentence), just a gigantic hassle best avoided if a lifey sentence can be obtained otherwise.

Pretrial investigation is mostly sunk cost, meaning you're already paying detectives, cops, CSIs, etc., but there's probably considerable overtime involved.

Once a trial starts, it starts going past that into expert fees, payment of officers for trial time, probably a good number of third parties get on the payroll for various things.

If you didn't do it then why cop to it? The trial can only help. Dead is dead if you lose. Hopefully dead from a combination of bufunga an his head being rammed into the cell bars. OJ pulled off the perfect crime compared to this idiot

Also:  The costs for all the lawyers and their staffs for both the prosecution and defense.  There would still be ton of costs being paid by the county/state during both the trial and all the damn appeals that would go along for years if this moved forward as a  death penalty case.

I really think a big part of this plea deal is also to save money...

I know that Idaho has the State Victims Rights Act which requires the state to consult with the victims’ families for such a deal. I guess we will see at the change of plea hearing on Wednesday. I would at the very least they would be able to face him and make victim impact statements to him. Who knows? I would prefer for the sake of the victims that he make a complete confession but I don’t want to ever speak for them. If it’s my child I’d want to know why. But that’s me. And I do realize that with a whack job like him who is likely a psychotic sexual sadist we will never truly know WHY even if he tries to explain it. He serves no purpose other than target 🎯 practice in my view and I wrestle with those thoughts bc I pretty much don’t like the DP but if ever there was a case that fits it’s this.

I'm not saying he didn't do it. He's not admitted anything yet. The tentative plan is for him to admit for the plea deal. If you're going to kill him either way, then why would he plead?
