Well, I was wrong about no repeats, obviously. I like what I see, nonetheless.

My logic for what I did think we’d see was rooted in this, though. Were the big prize for home games for all of these SEC backwater programs.

Hey now, Gainesville has springs nearby.

It's interesting looking at the schedules, all the remaining big name SEC teams get Texas coming to them first. LSU, Tennessee get home games with us in 26. Bama gets us in 27. Georgia gets us this year at home so we don't return the favor until 29. Even lower tier ones get us first. Mizzou in 26. South Carolina in 27. Only Ole Miss and Auburn have to wait till 28 and 29 respectively.

[aggy] But ol' Snakey is rolling out the red carpet for them damn 'Sips, prolly cuz they're paying him off. [/aggy]

I was curious as what the new guy hazing might look like and here it is. And as others have pointed out upthread, Texas home games were baked into our admittance into the conference.

Meanwhile, OU continues to get a free ride.

We've had an easier go the first two years and OU has faced a slog. It's balancing out a bit.

So throughout all the information blitz yesterday did they give any indication of when the actual ‘26 schedule will be announced?

We civilized folk tend to make plans 1 year or more in advance….

Just buy a refundable ticket to Knoxville every weekend in October (except OU) and the first two weekends of November and then cancel the ones you don’t need. Simple.

On the other hand of the 14 teams in the SEC prior to us joining we saw Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Miss State at home first and Ole Miss and Auburn come to Texas before our road trip. So it was only one game off from half and half.

It is easy, I am planning on going to Barton Rouge and Knoxville next fall, if anyone schedules a wedding they know I am skipping it anyway.

Texas 2026 schedule: Things to know: Gerry Hamilton

Spoiler

Texas 2026 schedule: Things to know

The SEC announced the nine game schedules for 2026-29 Tuesday night on ESPN2. As expected, the 2026 schedule is heavy on the Manning family's history in the SEC with Arch possibly being in his final year in Austin.

There is a chance that four or five of the teams on the 2026 schedule for the Longhorns have new head coaches, and probably at least half will have new starting quarterbacks.

Non-conference ...
Sept. 5 vs. Texas State - could very well have a new head coach with jobs such as Oklahoma State, Arkansas and possibly Ole Miss coming open. Not to mention Baylor, if things go south.

Sept. 12 vs. Ohio State - A lot to this game. Likely ESPN College Game Day. Arch Manning revenge game? At least three times playing in less that three years. Chaminade-Madonna High will be well represented with Jeremiah Smith and Derrek Cooper. And more.

Sept. 19 vs. UTSA - Will UTSA have a new head coach? Jeff Traylor will get to  P4 job in this coaching carousel cycle if he can. Tough job now with NIL, even with rev share. Oklahoma State, Arkansas, possibly Baylor ... not to mention a sleeper interest such as Virginia Tech.

SEC opponents ...
Arkansas - Will very likely have new coach, and definitely a new quarterback.

at Texas A&M - Take your most sure-handed holder to College Station. This game could have playoff implications. Elko is doing solid program ascending work in CS.

vs. Oklahoma (Dallas) - Finally we get to see Arch vs. Mateer. We will assume Venables will be back, for now. Two quality home wins to start 2025. If things go south the remainder of the season, coaching search and #AllSoftballNoBrakes

at LSU - New quarterback for the Tigers in 2026, but a familiar name from Austin in 2024. Arch Manning returns to his home state for his only college game vs. LSU (more than likely). Manning family history in the Pelican State, etc... all of it will be built up by ESPN.

at Tennessee - Arch Manning in Knoxville to take on Peyton Manning's Volunteers. Who will young Marshall Manning be rooting for? Cousin Arch or his and dad's Volunteers? The build up for this one will be big too.

Ole Miss - May have a new head coach (see Florida below). Arch Manning hosting the alma mater of Archie Manning, Eli Manning and dad Cooper Manning. The Manning family history in the SEC will be on full display.

Florida - Three straight years playing the Gators. The third time with a new head coach, and maybe new quarterback.

Mississippi State - Everyone's favorite Art Briles will be in DKR, once again. Third year in a row facing the Bulldogs, and this time will be with a young quarterback they love (not like).

at Missouri - Texas is 6-1 vs. Missouri all-time. This will be the first meeting since 2017, a Texas 33-16 victory. Will Missouri have a new head coach? Eli Drinkwitz will be mentioned in the Florida Gators coaching search along with Lane Kiffin (the early favorite) and Curt Cignetti.

Tennessee next year is set up for Peyton to be the Volunteer's guest picker on Game Day.

Ohio State in Austin
LSU in BR
Tennessee in Knoxville

All likely to be Game Day games.  Off chance of OU in Dallas too if we are both top 10

Can UF money whip Kiffin enough for him to leave a comfortable situation in Oxford?

It appears that Ole Miss has a well-established and run NIL program in place for him. It's not like Gainesville is on the beach. Will Joey Freshwater demonstrate loyalty this go 'round?

Art Briles at Miss State? Wtf is he talking about?

I thought it was weird too. I guess he is saying Briles will come watch his son in-law coach?

Short memories, huh?

Jeff Lebby, piece of human shit that he is, played a key role in institutionalizing rape enablement for the football program at Baylor. When the daylight started to hit what those motherfuckers were doing, he was one of most aggressive deniers and Art Briles apologists in this entire debacle. Not only is he an okie shittalker from way back, he supports the rape of young women and then threatening them if they dare speak up. Fuck him, fuck Baylor, fuck OU and fuck Mississippi State for hiring him.

klan aggy would be well-served to prevent a sideline pass from ending up with briles

a little soft encouragement off the record through cdc backchannels (snakey?) might be fit for purpose

if he does make it to the sideline, a rtf student videographer should be assigned to follow him the entire game and the videographer should have an assigned off-duty-compensated dps officer responsible for 'security' of the videographer

make it blatantly clear that his presence on the sidelines is not welcome, endorsed or enabled in any way

if he gets near cheer or pom instruct the dps security detail to ask him to move on

Lebby doubles down on ‘family’ talk amid Briles questions

Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby responded to a question on Sunday about the presence of disgraced former Baylor head coach Art Briles at MSU open practice last week. Lebby’s Sunday press conference after a team scrimmage at Davis Wade Stadium was his first media session since the practice.
Lebby

Briles, Lebby’s father-in-law and coaching mentor, was present at the Seal complex in MSU gear last Monday during the open portion of practice.

The Dispatch asked Lebby directly about any specific guidelines around Briles and his proximity to the program, and the MSU head coach gave a similar answer to the university spokesperson last week, treating Briles the same as any other family member attending an open practice.

“(Briles) being here as family, I think that was addressed, and we want family at practice,” Lebby said on Sunday. “We want family at scrimmages. That for me is special, and that’s how it’s going to continue to be.”
Briles

Briles was fired by Baylor in 2015 for his role in an administrative cover-up of sexual assault allegations against football players. A 2017 lawsuit alleged at least 52 acts of rape by more than 30 Bears football players over several years.

Lebby, who was an assistant coach at Baylor from 2008 to 2016, was named by former Baylor student Dolores Lozano in a federal court filing as one of the coaches who failed to take action against running back Devin Chafin after he was reported for three instances of physical assault.

There was controversy at Oklahoma in 2023 when Briles was seen with then Sooners offensive coordinator Lebby and his family on the field after a win over SMU, followed by Lebby changing his social media profile picture to one of him and Briles together.

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables and athletic director Joe Castiglione both said that they were caught off guard by the situation. Castiglione issued a statement after the game saying that the incident should not have happened based on boundaries that had been set.

Lebby later issued an apology, saying, “Joe Castiglione, Coach Venables both have addressed concerns with me, have talked to me about it, and again, can make sure that everybody understands that this is something that will not come up again.”

Briles has had multiple jobs working in football since his dismissal by Baylor. He was the head coach of Italian Football League team Estra Guelfi in both 2018 and 2022 and was head coach at Mount Vernon High School in Texas from 2019-2020.

Briles was hired as offensive coordinator by the Canadian Football League team Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2017, but the offer was quickly rescinded. He was hired for the same role at Grambling State in 2022 only to resign a few days later after public backlash to the news.

What metric is ChatGPT using to calculate Arch's monetary value to Disney? Nielson ratings?

Even with TXST and UTSA, that's the toughest schedule on paper we've ever had.

I looked it up to see when the last time we played Texas State/SWT and was surprised we've only played them once in 1930.

I think our out of conference is much stronger than this years for sure.

My daughter is currently attending Texas State, so all have to wear my Texas  button down shirt and Texas State cap to this game.

The only Texas State gear possessed by Mrs. Brat and our oldest son (both SWT grads, but staunch Longhorn fans) is this 60 year old T-shirt that she has never worn:

We joined all by ourselves?

Also, who else Texas gonna get? Mizzou? LSU?

There was not another SEC team with 3 CLEAR, natural, historic, and regional Rivals as Texas.
