I just don't understand why so many people love to fuck around when every single one of them hates the finding out part.

They think they are above the finding out part. Even here Selina Kyle, "the rich don't even go broke the same as the rest of us" is still in play.  Indicted by grand juries, but being given the luxury of ample time to turn themselves in, making motions to courts to NOT GET ARRESTED, etc etc.

I realize that these folks are not the only case where they are being afforded time to turn themselves in but generally, the average person has law enforcement show up at their place when they damn well please and drag em in. They sure as fuck don't get the luxury of wasting the court's time trying to nullify the indictment....that's the point of the trial to come assholes.

Given that many of the charges are going to be harder to prove (which is why so many of them are missing from the DC indictment) this could backfire badly. Even if he's convicted and jailed for a decade, MAGAts will point to every minor mini-victory he gets at the expense of all else.

Today is the day the government is supposed to respond to the issue of witnesses testifying before the DC grand jury in the Florida case.  Must say I am interested in that, because at first blush, it sure looks like the government was violating its own policies, if not the law.  I hope they have a good explanation.  The best part of it may be under seal, though.

Also worth noting for those inclined to panic about Cannon denying the governments' motions to seal, Chutkan did it too.

MINUTE ORDER as to DONALD J. TRUMP: The government's 24 Sealed Motion for Leave to Submit Exhibit Ex Parte and Under Seal is hereby DENIED without prejudice. Signed by Judge Tanya S. Chutkan on 8/10/2023. (zjd)

I bet this won't be for a retarded reason though. No idea what this filing was but I have a feeling the ex parte bit was the problem.

That moran in the Cardinals t-shirt will haunt me every day of my life.  FFS.

I mean, the only shirt that would've been more fitting from a professional sports team might be a Cowboys shirt.  Or A&M if we were going college.  Otherwise, the Cardinals shirt is pretty much exactly what I would've expected that guy would've been wearing.

Okey-dokey.  I mean, if you're gonna have a stupid perspective, come strong, and you did.

@TwiceHorn would encouraging a client to provide false testimony in order to benefit another client be grounds for disbarment or is it less serious than failure to return phone calls?

I don't k now if there's like a Federal Judge/Magistrate lounge or something or Fall Mixer or anything like that.  But that she cited that and thought it was a slam dunk, to have to be then told, "Uh, this case was overturned.  So it's not really caselaw in the sense you think of caselaw."  And then she blasted back with, "AH-HAH!  So you admit it WAS STILL A CASE!"

I mean, politics aside...some Trump fans...the ones still with a few operating brain cells have to realize the world looks to our judicial system literally on a daily basis for guidance, precedence, and direction.  This is not a great look for us considering the high profile nature of the case.  This is bush league, baked on weed, late for class, 1L plagiarize the first horn book they could find on the way to class type weak sauce.  fucking Keystone Kannons.  (also the name of a great porn site  and my alt.rock CivPro cover band).

This seems relevant again in light of Trump wanting his surrender to law enforcement to be televised in prime time.

That response was killer.

Quote

“That proposed remedy is contrary to precedent and—except for the district court ruling reversed in United States v. Messino, 181 F.3d 826 (7th Cir. 1999)—would appear to be unprecedented.…..

Nauta has not identified any case, and the Government is unaware of one, in which a court has excluded evidence to avoid a conflict on facts remotely similar to this case, where the Government put Mr. Woodward on notice long ago about potential conflicts, and he is now seeking to affirmatively use those conflicts to gain a tactical advantage at trial by excluding highly incriminating evidence to the benefit of not only his own client but also a co-defendant (Trump) whose PAC is paying his legal fees.”

IE…try it Eileen and prepare to get benched slapped AGAIN on appeal.

It would 100% drown out the debate and be a great "fuck you" to Fox News for hosting the debate.  It would dominate the news cycle long enough, and combined with Fox News restricting other networks from showing more than 30 seconds of the debate (or 30 second clips), that the debate would never make it into the mainstream news cycle.

In fact, it's so smart, that I don't see Trump doing it.

I for one am thankful that there is no muzzle on Junior so he can continually show the world just how fucking stupid he is each day, and the same with Eric.

Fuck Rudy

And if he can afford food, shelter, and travel every month, he can afford an attorney. It might not be one he wants, but tough shit. He is selling property for 6.5 million. He has money.

@TwiceHorn, my brother in Christ, you have got to stop giving Cannon the benefit of the doubt.

There's no real benefit of the doubt there.  It's just a datapoint.  Judges refuse to accept stuff under seal all the time, for various reasons.  Some just kind of have a hardon about it.  Some don;t much gaf if no one objects.

I see the confusion on why Meadows thought this was possible.  She used the term "Two Weeks."  To them, that means absolutely nothing.

He clearly has a background in general contracting.
