I think we're wildly lucky that FSU's QB wrecked his leg.

The committee was always going to shove an $EC team into the playoff whether they deserved to be there or not.  Travis going down gave them the excuse to kick the Noles.  If it wasn't them it was going to be us.  Gotta have their sweet, precious, E$PN backed team in there no matter what.

Good to know you can lose by double digits at home, barely squeak by USF, need a last second hail mary to win versus a 6-6 squad, and still get a spot in the CFP over an undefeated P5 conference champ.

Yeah cause the committee and espn hate us. Get out of here with that weak ass woe is us bullshit

If you ignore their schedule, then sure.

FSUs toughest opponent = LSU.
That’s Bamas 4th toughest.

FSU did not play any of the top 4 ACC finishers in the regular season. Their top finisher? Va Tech. The same Va Tech that lost to Rutgers (6-6), Purdue (4-8) and Marshall (3-5 in the Sun Belt).

Southern Miss won 3 games and lost to ACU and Tarleton by combined 38. North Alabama won 3 and lost to Mercer (Ole Miss maybe beat Mercer 73-7).

Travis or not, FSU has done nothing to prove they’re more deserving other than beating the crappy teams on their schedule. Georgia, Ohio State, Bama, Texas, Washington, Michigan, Oregon. Yeah. I’d put money that at least 4 go undefeated against that schedule.

All of that is true, but the ACC is a major conference and has won the national championship a couple of times in the last few years.  Who knew Clemson was going to be bad this year?  You play the teams in your conference and on your schedule.

Has nothing to do with hating us and everything to do with the $EC always having spots.  This shit has been going on since the BCS era.

You can only beat who you play. FSU had LSU, Florida, and Clemson on their regular season schedule. Any other year, that's a big schedule.

Alabama scheduled one good OoC game and lost. The entire SEC's biggest OoC win was against [checks notes] Louisville.

What else was FSU supposed to do here?

I’m no fan of the committee. I think they’ve screwed many teams over the life of CFP.

TCU was not the first nor the only non-conf-champ to make the cut.

The 20/20 hindsight about TCU is based on the ass-kicking delivered to them by Georgia.

And I believe the win over Michigan prior to that ass-kicking validated them being there.

You really aren’t making sense. If TCU belonged last year, FSU certainly belongs this year. TCU last year and FSU this year have zero comparative value.

You continue to be one of the most rational and logical folks on this board.

Where are the assholes that kept telling us Georgia HAD TO WIN yesterday

Two teams fighting for one spot gives you better probability than 3 teams fighting for 2...for reasons that I can't come up with right now!

All of this because Auburn decided to give Milroe 10 1/2 minutes to find a receiver on 4th down. Now Milroe is Joe Montana.

The Sec was not going to be left out. They couldn’t leave Texas out and have Bama in.

There are specific guidelines for choosing the 4 teams. Being a materially different team because of a key injury is part of those guidelines. Yeah it sucks, but that is just part of it. If Travis was their QB right now, they would be in.

Correct.

We have Michigan, Ohio St. Ohio St. Michigan over the next 4 years.  Before the SEC move, we had Georgia, Georgia, Florida, Florida on deck after that.

You can't know whether Florida will suck or be world beaters 6-7 years from now.

Clemson, LSU, Florida were all on FSU's schedule years ago.

FSU got fucked in this one, no question.

Two Big Brothers in the playoffs must suck.

So who gets the 4th spot in your scenario? ( healthy FSU)

If the committee was going to go this route with FSU they should have excluded them from the top 4 the moment Travis got hurt. But to have them remain undefeated and win their conference and then decide to drop them out the top 4 makes no sense. Sets a terrible precedent IMO. What if Milroe, Penix, Ewers got hurt in practice leading up to the playoffs. Do either of those teams no longer belong?

Not lose their starting QB without a capable backup with 3 weeks to go

Oh, I totally get it, it just sucks for them. They did everything that they possibly could (except not having better backup quarterbacks, I guess?) and are more deserving.
