For a lot of taxpayers the SALT limitation is not that big of an issue.  Yes, my deduction is capped at 10k, but I was in AMT, so I wasn’t benefitting from the additional tax deduction anyways.

Like Brew, I have a number of clients that will see their tax liability decrease by six figures. It will be interesting to see what tax revenues are based on the tax cuts.

The wealthy and powerful don’t want the poors to know how much they make.

reminds me of a local dentist who is a friend of a friend.  He and the wife live in a very nice house and drive expensive cars.  Nothing wrong with that.   However he has a much less nicer car that he uses to drive to work so his employees believe he earns a lot less.  He tells his friends to not mention any of his cars when they come in for an appointment.

as far as raising taxes, I would be more for removIng all of the deductions that many wealthy use to avoid taxes first.  Create a new top bracket at a 99% rate and it will have little impact as everyone will figure out how to get around it.

Our taxes (fed and state) were more this year than in years past, and we're at just about the same income spot as we were last year.  Not sure WTF that's all about.  I'm not 1% for damn sure.

Have you people done your taxes already? Nobody knows shit until you're finished if you've been hit by AMT.

The new tax law makes it virtually impossible to be subject to AMT.

I think she’s a doll. Super cute. Were the Reps ever young? Or, have a sense of fun?
I tell you who also is a knockout, Krysten Sinema from Arizona. I think Hugo posted an image of her being sworn in. Good for Arizona to vote in a woman Senator who’s also bi.

I would swear both in at the same time /nosexistpig

Yep. Seems super common in the oil business. I know a guy who dad has money and will fly into some place on his gulfstream, then have someone take him to the commercial pickup so one of his field managers can pick him up. He says that if the guys had any idea how much money he was making there would be "blood in the streets"

Sounds about right. One person makes all the money and distributes the crumbs to those who work for them. Go America

Crumbs, I laughed. That mentality never ceases to amaze me but maybe AOC will help bring in the socialist end game you desire.

There are a lot of people in this country that live at the top of the food chain because of the risks they have taken. There are a lot of others that are there because someone before them took the risks. Speaking from the side that came from nothing, there are opportunities everywhere and sometimes it just takes the balls/risk tolerance to grab one. That’s what makes America great in spite of all the issues it has. There aren’t many places out there like that.

So everybody deserves a gulfstream now?

Well... I'm sure it depends. However, if you were entitled to a gulfstream and were snookered out of it, Id be nervous if you found out- say, if I were the guy who snookered you.

you don't become a billionaire without being awesome at literally fucking everyone over.

if you take risks, have talent, have vision, ingenuity, etc - you should be able to cash in and be wealthy or extraordinarily rich when it pays off.  most people are fairly average, take average risks, work average hard, and should have average lives.  it is to the benefit of our society if an average life =/= mountains of debt living paycheck to paycheck until some kind of average bad thing happens and you're bankrupted by average medical debt

Sure, but of course the people that make it dont always realize that their work was only part of the reason for success. Chance plays a big part of it. The coin landed heads up for them, but it could have just as easily been tails.

Did you read what he wrote? He didn't say there would be strong words. He said blood. That implies a large disparity. That implies someone is likely not paying their fair share.

Fuck off with your "socialist" generalizations. I know none, and am not one

Precisely. NO ONE does it on their own. That has never been a thing

Wouldn't one of the field managers in an effort to get in good with the boss, periodically look up the flight to see it was on time or early so he could be there a few minutes ahead of schedule to pickup the boss?  And then wouldn't they see that there was no flight arriving from that origin city around that timeframe?  It sounds like a cool idea but I call bullshit on your friend for saying his father did that because that ruse wouldn't last past a couple of flight arrivals before the field manager got wise and said, "Every time I call the airline arrivals hotline or look it up on my phone, there's never anything arriving that city on any of these airlines here."

Now I do know several people who've done the car thing, where they have one car at home and then have another that they let their employees/customers see them driving around.

America is still stuck in feudalism. We're all slaves and indentured servants.

That would be a start, at least in stemming the tide of this country pumping out moronic, lazy, grifting, narcissistic indictments to capitalism like the president.

it's the reverse of the "i worked hard and earned everything i ever got off of my own sweat and blood and therefore i am opposed to things that may help people" view that people lacking proper perspective often hold

The problem is and has away been with capitalism is that the more money you have, the easier it is to realize opportunities and take risk. Additionally, the more opportunities open up for you to personally prosper without the help of partners.

The issue most "Socialist" disagree with is not money, rather it is the issue that in a capitalist society, more money equals more power.

No, no bullshit.

You wouldn't believe the stories of this guy's dad. Truly a man who loves America, but hates Americans.

I get that he was a rich asshole who had a jet.  I just think after a few times, his field manager woulda gotten wise to the ruse, that's all.

I've never been on twitter, but Rep. Cortez has me wanting to sign up because I like her shit-stirring in a good way.  I don't want an account but I'm getting sick or having to google her feed and manually read each one every couple of days.

What I've noticed from taking risks in America is that it rarely pays off, unless your risk feeds the status quo. The rich are inclined to steal, block and crush you. They have no incentive to allow for honest competition. The legal system is your enemy and so is the health care system. Hell the gas & oil industry stole the 2000 election fearing an alternative energy revolution and a rich boy developer backed by oligarchs just blocked a middle class white girl who had the gall to rise too high.

Look what they are doing to AOC, actively trying to decimate her at every turn.

America is NOT a fair playscape. 3 of the last 4 GOP candidates were born into immense wealth.

What grand risks did GW, Romney & Trump take to so deserve their reward?

Bullshit on the American dream. It's all bullshit. Moral hypocrisy and white collar crime reign supreme here. Not "hard work". Lol. The less money you earn the much more actual real work you do.

This county rewards soldiers with a lifetime of homelessness. Vs President AwOL and president Bone Spurs.

I mean Trump said he could murder somebody on 5th Ave. And he meant it. The rich are America's murderers. Supplying guns and bombs and wars everywhere so the world is shot to shit.

AOC is RIGHT!

War, what is it good for. The rich!

Eat the fucking rich. Repeal and replace them.

She secretely might. She dates Hollywood libs.

What she's actually saying is "try it", and then you will be destroyed. Which is what's going on here with all this "little girl" talk. Just try it, think the rich, and you will see what happens.

At some point, the rich will fall. That point will be when they can't pay anybody to protect them against those who have true moral leverage to bring them all to justice.

See Mueller.

See AOC.

Hell, see Jesus.

And btw. I'm a Clinton capitalist, a huge fan of the FBI, I love Federalism, Patton was a god & I think West Point is cool af.

And the perfect American is this guy:

Upward mobility in America is attainable to just about anyone who puts the time and effort in. It doesn't guarantee success, but you have a shot at it here that doesn't happen in many other places, and yes luck plays a part in it.

Oh and you really live a sad dark life if that's what you really think.

True, but money should not impede your realization of certain God given rights that have been defined by modern society for every member.

Weather you are a winner or loser should be irrelevant when it comes to say, your right to a fair trial. We all know that’s not the case.

It's the truth man. Sorry. I think Jesus basically said the same stuff btw.

And your upward mobility shit is bullshit. Nearly every super rich person in the United States is white and male. From Harvard and Yale.

Without a doubt the US offers more upward mobility chances than most countries but not nearly as much as most of the  larger European countries.   Or at least the results show that.
