The NBA deserves to be called out for this travesty. More rigged than a Larry Donaghy called game. Get rid of the fucking Lottery. Worst records should match the draft order like the NFL.

Tonight’s result actually did exactly what the lottery is intended to do with regards to discouraging tanking.

Kyrie can (and probably will) opt out in a few weeks in search of more money. Does Nico back up the Brinks truck for the only Maverick who can create his own shot to pair with, potentially, the best frontcourt in the league?

He'd be stupid to do that but he prolly doesn't have a choice.

Maybe the Bucks can turn the Giannis sweepstakes into a bidding war among the Spurs, Rockets, and perhaps OKC as well.

If I'm Milwaukee, I'd want Castlel, salary filler, the #2 pick, and the ATL picks from the Spurs.

From the Rockets, give me Sengun, Eason, salary filler, the Suns pick this year and the 2027 picks.

OKC would need to give me Chet, Wiggins, and the 2028 Dallas pick.

The thing about OKC, they could do this and more if for no other reason to keep Giannis away from SA or Houston.

Poor Utah and Washington - each moved down 4 spots.  Just brutal luck.

Wait, Rutgers had the projected #2 and #3 picks on their squad and went 15-17?  Turrrrble.

Not sure if that logic tracks, if he opts in he rehabs for most of next season making $44 million dollars. How many franchises are going to pay a 33 year old guard anywhere near that to not play next season?

I understand opting out gives him the opportunity to get those guaranteed years on the back end at a big number, but I just don’t think the market is going to be there for him to turn down the $44 mil. Probably makes more sense to opt in, take his time with his rehab, and be healthy enough to secure one last big contract with his play next year once he returns

The thing about the Bucks is that they do not control their first round pick until 2031.  So there is no incentive for them to tear down their team to the studs and tank.

So any trade for Giannis would need to bring back good young players and picks from bad teams (e.g., getting the ATL picks from the Spurs or the Suns picks from the Rockets).

The imbalance between the 2 conferences, the lack of immediate help from a franchise changing pick for the 3 worst teams and the NBA legitimately perceived as being rigged is far worse for the long term health of this league than if the 3 worst teams were actively tanking and were rewarded with the top 3 picks.

OKC has a shit load of picks from bad teams in the future.

The thing is, OKC might not want to be in the Giannis business at $175M over the next 3 years.

Like who and when?  The only unprotected pick I can see from a potentially dreadful team is the 2028 Dallas pick, and now that Flagg is on Dallas, that pick may not be that bad..

That's a bit of a stretch, considering they just won 50 games.

Further, it's obviously way early, but right now it looks like the 2027 NBA draft is going to be underwhelming and akin to 2024.

As an OKC fan, I’m saying yes to that deal yesterday. Keeping Hartenstein, Williams, Caruso and Dort to pair SGA with Giannis? Done.

I think it’d take more than that.  Milwaukee doesn’t have many of their own picks.  If Giannis is gone, they’ll want to restock their picks.

Brunson has said he was going to sign but the mavs kept pushing the date. The deal was 4/$55m.

When you add Cooper Flagg as part of the deal, it was actually a pretty smart move by Nico.

true. they are excited that they get a star cheap and will trade him for nothing before his big contract comes up, when they determine that defense championships.

of course he did. he was trying to blame the Mavs because we weren't hiring his dad to be an assistant coach.  he was never signing here.  the problem was not trading him.

Yeah, from OKC they’d want more young talent and/or a couple 1st round picks. Milwaukee’s GM isn’t Nico.

For me it depends on which young talent goes.

I personally would rather keep JDub and it isn’t close for me.  I’d part with 4-5 1st with a package with Chet.  Even more so if Hartenstein stays and Giannis could play the 4.

If JDub is the piece to go, I don’t know if there’s a package I like.  Unless there’s no or 1 further down the line 1st pick involved and they can take a mass haul to get a close-ish piece to Williams

Other than Dallas no one's paying Kyrie that much money to rehab. If anything he signs a two year deal with Dallas instead of a 3 or 4 year deal. That lines up with Lively and Gafford needing big extensions soon. And with AD's lower body finally crumbling like a a matchstick house.

Yep. He was also never going to develop in Dallas like he did in NY in a Luka centered offense.
