So who is it going to be? OU or TT?

I prefer Tech.

Concur.

Beating OU would get an * from ESPiN because “they’re so young and inexperienced.”

ESPiN spin would be a much tougher sell if we beat the P they’ve already proclaimed the world’s all time greatest …

Besides .. fuck OU

Sure. What's the worst that could happen?

OK, pepper spray and a restraining order. Still, some risks are worth taking.

I’m still looking for that poker chip in Picken’s pocket!

Our entire program trajectory changed after Mike flipped off the umps in the Big 12 tournament in May 2022

I would argue it started when he replaced Connie Clark who was kept way much longer than she should have been.

No doubt, but we hadn't made OKC in 2019 or 2021 and lost both supers in 3 games

Mike flips the bird, 2022 magic run happens, win the Big 12 regular season in 2024, we go back to back in the champ series in 2024/2025.

A fun little game is to not get caught trying to pick pocket Pickens pocket.

If you succeed, you’ll win a hair tie, poker chip, or condom.

He looked like a different man out there today and even sounded like it during his mid-game interview.

White is obviously a damn good coach.  He was one ground ball away from going home a week or so ago.  Every coach needs a little luck.

Kavan has been a stud post season for 2 years.  hopefully she gets 2 more wins.

agree. Connie Clark was a pitching coach playing head coach and was kept at least 5 years too long

Big Mac is the mvp today for stepping up and throwing a shut out. She has had her struggles this year, but she delivered today in the biggest start of her career

I think the biggest start was the game against OU last year. But I would definitely say it is the second biggest.

She should have retired when Blaire left bc it was suck city after that until 2019 when Mike came

oh they would minimize it drastically as Texas only won because Tech can't hit.

Texas is 3-1 overall versus Canady in her college career, with the only loss being an 8-inning affair.  Texas already has 2 wins over Canady in the WCWS

We will not be intimidated. Why would we be?

If Tech makes the finals, it will be somewhere their entire team, their million dollar pitcher and their HC has never been.  Mike is on trip #3 and almost everyone in the starting lineup was in the finals last year.

Yeah, I definitely want to face TTU, no question. OU is experienced and the home team. Fuck that.

Really goes to show how fine the line is between success and failure.

Yes. The team isn't here without Stewie. That said, the team also isn't here with Stewie at SS. And as noted, Bennett should get a tip of the cap for that. She didn't look like anything close to an SEC 2B or hitter until late in the season, but she started to play with much more confidence both on offense and defense. That made it so much easier to move Goode back to SS and Stewie to LF, where her own defense (especially her arm) has been a real plus. The ripple effect of little things that added up to huge things.

TT’s offense sucks, especially away from the launching pad that is Lubbock. All of our pitching and experience is the difference, because we have hit Canady well enough to win the last 3 matchups

Mac ate 4 innings and 59 pitches from TK‘s arm

None of TK’s 43 pitches were that stressful - the leadoff walk in the 5th, all zeroes after that with 3 K

We need to win a championship more than we need to beat OU again.

OU does NOT need to make the champ series for 6 straight years, after a rebuild with their entire 4-peat core leaving.

That would just piss me off.

Since UCLA beat OU in 2019 for the title, the only title game participants have been OU, FSU and Texas.  Let Tech be some new blood to make it, but not win it.

No one has won it all in their first WCWS appearance since Gasso and OU did it in 2000.

Tech vs us in the finals? aggy#1 heads would fall off.

As a coping mechanism, they’ll bring up their two titles from the 80s. Feel free to remind them that in the 80s there were only a handful of NCAA teams, and more than half the global population wasn’t alive when they won either of them.

In the 80s, it was a 16 team postseason tournament, in a 3-game format for each "regional" to advance to the WCWS.  7 geographic regions and an at-large region.

The WCWS in 1983 (aggy win) was: Fullerton, Indiana, South Carolina, aggy, UCLA, Missouri, Louisiana Tech, Pacific
The WCWS in 1984 (aggy runner up) was: Adelphi, Cal Poly Pomona, Fresno, Nebraska, Northwestern, aggy, UCLA, Utah State
The WCWS in 1986 (aggy runner up) was: Cal, Fullerton, Creighton, Indiana, Long Beach, Louisiana Tech, Northwestern, aggy
The WCWS in 1987 (aggy win) was: ASU, Fullerton, Central Michigan, FSU, Fresno, Nebraska, aggy, UCLA

I can sum it up:

Mac ate
TK shoved
Stewie went yard
Tennessee threw the ball away in the 6th, but even 1 run was enough for Texas

agreed.  1 run could beat Tech.  probably gonna need avg 5 or 6 a game to beat OU in a 3 game series.

⬆⬆Loved that Mike showed how much he wanted to win!!! ⬆⬆

So freakin' proud of this team getting back on track after SEC tournament and errors by Stewie at shortstop --  they have really come together to play much better in the 2 comeback Super wins and okc...

Freakin' MAC balled out today!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Yep.  Here are your options to go up against:

.322 average, 60 HR, one player with double digit HR (the pitcher, lol), .502 SLG%, 211 K to 169 BB
or
.332 average, 120 HR, 6 players with double digit HRs, .634 SLG%, 229 K to 284 BB

Anyone who wants to play that second team 3x for a title, in their own backyard, is insane.

So- how was the strike zone?

was fine.  it was planned by Tenn to try to get in Mac and the umps head because Mac was hitting her spot with the drop and Tenn coach knew it was death for them.  to the umps credit it didnt appear to affect him and we pulled Mac for TK soon after anyway.
