Let me explain why we will ALWAYS get fucked by the referees.

Go out to any youth sports league out there.  You have young referees at all the kiddos games.  Guess what school's graduates are nearly nonexistent in these ranks. That's right Texas grads.  What you do see is a shit ton of Aggies, and other schools.  Twenty plus years later they are refereeing college games. There will always be an inherent bias against Texas, by the referees.  It's part of our mystique, the hatred of us, is simply part of the package.  For every call that goes our way, you can usually count about 8 that went against us.

But that's the cross we bear, and it's one we will never shed.  Doesn't make me less furious, when I see the repetitive nature of the calls and especially non-calls with our defense for holding. But at least this game we didn't help the refs as much with our own brain farts as much.  With one notable exception brain fart.

Anyhow the ref's suck and are for whatever reason make so many non-calls a game in favor of our opponents it's ridiculous.

Lol, are you 12? The number of refs that care that much about school pride has to be almost zero. But everyone cares a lot about money.

Two betting lines were secured on Saturday in the SEC.  Texas/Vandy and GA.  Gunner could have easily taken that ball into the endzone to go up by 11 with a minute left.  FL also got fucked on the 3rd and 4 pass that "hit the ground" that didn't appear to do so.  SEC needs playoff spots.  They're behind the Big10 in everyone's eyes and they're trying to stack teams that make it and get higher bids.

Expect massive fuckery in Athens if it's a close game next week.

You only "have to wonder" if you still believe in the Tooth Fairy.

Remember, this half-year of pageantry represents billions of dollars sloshing around... and it's pure entertainment... and most importantly it's scripted.

The script is basically Improv, but there are limitations sculpting the results.

Keep watching, though, and keep your subscriptions and betting lines up to date.

SEC has been pushing GA forward in multiple close games.  The "clap/timeout" vs Auburn.  The late first down 3rd and 4 pass they pulled from FL.  There's too much money and too many incentives for conferences to not put their thumbs on games to get certain programs into the post-season.

Shit, in bowl games the SEC used to wait until the opponents were announced for certain games to then determine who they'd send to facilitate favorable matchups.  Then tout their bowl record after the fact.  It's all fuckery

Too hysterical. We beat a top ten team, that is all that will be discussed when it comes to resumes.

Fuck the refs, they did everything they could to give Vandy the W, but they failed.

Isn't it better for the SEC if us and Georgia are in the playoff?

Yahoo Sports is calling it out.

It's a good article but the premise that the officiating is incompetent is flawed. The officials are carrying out an agenda. There's a big difference between missing penalties and ignoring particular  penalties, and I'm not just talking about Texas games. Obviously Auburn comes to mind and basically anyone playing Georgia. We left our old conference because among other reasons the officiating was bogus, and we’re finding out this place is bogus too.

Earlier this year I complained about the Mateer injury because I wanted to play a healthy OU. Part of my reasoning was that we wouldn't get credit for beating OU if their backup QB played, and even if Mateer played people would say he sucked because his hand was still hurt. To a certain degree, that's what is happening now - I've heard at least two national talking heads mention that his hand wasn't fully healed when OU played us in the context of ranking OU ahead of us despite the head-to-head.

But here's the thing - I was wrong. Not in the sense of being factually inaccurate, but in the sense of being worried about something that won't matter.

College football fans and journalists love narratives. Each season has stories and those stories impact how we view our team and the sport more broadly. And that's what you are talking about here and what I was talking about with the Mateer injury, narratives. We don't like how those games went because we knew how people would spin the story. But the committee doesn't work that way. Most of the comparisons they do are blind and are data driven. Although the "narratives" may have some secondary influence on how committee members think about the season, it's impact is de minimis. Now I'm not an idiot to say that the committee doesn't look at the teams or that they are completely blind. But to the extent that they compare helmets, they do it with an eye towards money and ratings. And that kind of bias will always favor Texas.

That's a long way of me saying that I'm sympathetic to your concerns, but that they are ultimately misplaced. The refs tried to job us pretty hard, but it won't affect the rest of our season.

I agree there was fuckery afoot,  however, I don't think it's tied to the gambling line.  I think it's tied to SEC officiating getting guidance that SEC vs SEC needs to be close games because that reinforces the best league in the land mantra.  It's especially an issue when a Top 10 Team is getting boat raced.  As you see from the rankings,  the Vandy come back helped soften their ratings drop.  SEC, SEC, SEC. and all that.

Yeah, it's gonna be real bad in a couple of weeks when we play Georgia.  Kirby Smart is gonna get himself spun up early, be in the refs' ear the entire time, and then you throw in us being on the road at their place?  We're fucked.

it's so bad they have to deploy a restraint device....  so that makes it ok?

Sark can work the Refs and not become Kirby like.   The best coaches I've seen do this wait for the right opportunity and then lock on to them for the rest of the game.   And then they might not do it for a game or two.

Kirby likes to whine about everything from minute 1 to minute 60.

There will not be resolution of this fuckery until refs are fired, or actually jailed (if caught w/ payoff money). The league itself could punish poor-performing refs that make horrible calls backed by video evidence, but apparently they do not. So likely its also sanctioned by the league office, not just Vegas.

Mack was actually really good at this.  every once in a while he would go Stoops but it was rare.  that said, he was probably smooth talking refs 24/7/365 too and Sally's cookies go a long damn way.

Yes he was.  Pick your battles and Saturday was prime for picking.   After a few of those missed holding calls, Sark should've been working them and then went ape chit on them with the DPI in the end zone.   If he gets a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct, so be it.  He had everything supporting his outrage including the replay on stadium video board, the TV commentators which pointed it out, and most the X/Twitter verse.  And then everything called against us from there is looked through that lense.
