Quite the surprise, or it isn’t. This board discussed a few months ago the rumors that PK was fed up with the Sark behavior issues. I don’t know if they were true, but this certainly raises questions.

Yes.  Kwiatkowski is a really good DC - Muschamp is one of the best in college football.

Is he? Serious question. Seems like the last time he was a DC calling plays was 2015.

The results were mostly good, but I never thought the style PK wanted to play defensively was a match for this league or what we did offensively.

Think about how many times Sark said they want to play tighter coverage in the secondary. It was a like a 4 year running thing.

On Texas talking about this just now that Muschamp is much more a stylistic fit for what Sark wants on that side of the ball.

Jeff Howe saying this is as mutual a firing as can be between Sark and Kwiatkowski.  Sark essentially 'letting' Pete K leave to go back to the west coast.

OTF, as well

So, Texas is going all in next year to try and win it all, and they think a brand new defensive scheme will be a fine component of that plan? Ok.

This.  PK’s style of D was not a good fit for the league or to pair with Sark’s O.  This seems like a better overall fit.

The last time Muschamp came here, his first year defense was pretty incredible.

He's a DC right now. Why would he take a demotion to come back?

Granted GT's defense wasn't great this year. Defensive FPI rank was 83rd.

Eric Nahlin was saying he didn't want to leave the first time but it was just a career move at the time

Goon on Sark. PK had 1 year left around the $2 million mark. Let him go back home and reward him for getting the defense to where its at.

Howe mentioned he was interested in year 1 under Sark. I remember most of that staff getting hired before PK and they all seemed to be Muschamp type guys

Yeah, I mean, he's from Leander and has lived in the Austin area for the majority of his life. Would be great to get him back.

Also would be nice to see the guys in the secondary play as if they understood what zone defense was.

Wish PK the best and he should have no trouble getting a great job on the WC. Hope this was a mutual decision for his sake. Nothing but respect for the work he did with our defense. Let’s hope the Boom is not off the rose with Muschamp.

Meaning what exactly?
