i'm still team no trade. we'll get bent over on any trade, other teams will be out for blood

Nah, we need to be sellers. Framber could bring back a nice return.

Went to my one and only game of the year today. Not optimal . Just a listless experience. Highlight was that I got the Hoya bean hidden ball in the can game right.

I’m with you. I’d at least listen and try to rape the Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, etc. If they want to send a package because Framber is their missing piece then do it. What is our upside if he stays? What’s a successful season for keeping him? Missing playoffs and getting nothing? Or even win one round? These same people that say don’t trade will be bitching that we have no pitching and no farm system next year. If you knew 100% Yordan, Paredes, Pena and Meyers were coming back then that’s a whole different conversation. Wishing something and reality are two different things and we have 4 days to decide. Who says we can’t make playoffs without Framber? Still could. We could also trade him, get prospects and sign him back. Tigers just did it last year. Maybe he leaves, misses Julia getting him peanuts, and wants to come back. To dismiss any trade of him is shortsighted and frankly a derelict of duty if you’re Dana. Maybe he stays and we get healthy and we win a few. And maybe we don’t. Which side you want to be on? There probably isn’t a definitive right answer. I’ve given Dana plenty shit but in this case I won’t either way. But he will catch hell either way.

As frustrating as these last 3 weeks or so have been, imagine being a Mariner fan.  The Astros go 5-11 and the M's can only close to 4 games to date.

Time to empty the fucking training room,  tell Alvarez to either decide to play or have the surgery, and get Spencer and Christian back in the rotation.

I'd trade Framber and tell him he can resign with us in the winter. Would a team give a real asset up for Hader? This group of rag tags may hang on for a division if Mariners and Rangers keep playing worse than us, or maybe luck into a wild card spot, but this team is unlikely to win a playoff series. 2024 team got mowed down by the Tigers and we still had Tucker, Bregman, and Yordan. Let's see how it works better with Trammell, Hummel, Short, Whitcomb, et al.

when was the last time a first place team traded their ace in the middle of a pennant race ?

The last time one had 18 guys on the injured list and didn’t know if/when any would be back, how healthy they would be when they came, how they would perform when they came back, had a farm system with little talent and had just gotten demolished in 4 games by a last place team. That time.

And I thought Brown was an ace too. I don’t think trading Framber is a white flag. The Tigers traded Flaherty last year during pennant race and I believe they beat us in the playoffs. They got back their starting shortstop and a catcher in Baseball 100. All I’m saying is if the Dodgers or whoever offer you one of their top two outfield prospects and a pitcher for Framber then it’s at least worth considering. The unprecedented nature of this Astros season should leave anything possible, as crazy as it sounds.

The Tigers were sellers, though, and they were kicking themselves when their season turned around. I don’t disagree with you, but anyways, Rome seemed to scoff at the possibility an hour ago:

@Bradley R. I could yell and scream, but I'll try to offer a different perspective on this. Think about the members of that Astros clubhouse who watched the front office trade their best player this winter, allow the clubhouse's leader to sign with an AL rival and then absorb 18 injuries once the season began. They've grinded and battled to get to 14 games above .500, build a four-game AL West lead and, according to FanGraphs, have 87.3 percent odds to reach the postseason. What message is being sent to them by trading Valdez? Thank you for your service, but we really wanted to make the Corpus Christi Hooks better this season. That is the easiest way to lose an entire clubhouse and watch a season unravel.
