I doubt it's the full 30m. Everyone knows that's a bad contract. If the Twins eat 10-15m of it each year, that would be a fair deal to take on the rest. After all, the Astros were the only team he would lift his NTC for, so they were over a barrel on this one.

Happy to have him back, I hope he is reinvigorated by coming to a club with playoff hopes and a positive outlook!

He seemed so subdued playing for the Twins against us.  That's not him.  He can let the hate flow now, lol!

Dubon is still gonna fulfill his original role and provide plug and play for days off.

It's a vital piece to have IMHO.

I think he's going to play CF pretty much every day until Meyers comes back.  That lets them run out their best lineup.

seeing it like this makes me feel like there will be no Alvarez coming back.

I still hate Trammell being on this team.  He's better than Hummel but that ain't saying shit.

Alvarez isn't even hitting in live games right now.

He needs to have the surgery and get ready for next year.

They can't replace what he can do when he is healthy, but he ain't healthy and they definitely replaced his current form which is a guy hitting soft toss and off a tee.

Bregman looking over at that other dugout and seeing Correa's arm around Altuve.

Told my kid the new HEB commercial writes itself. Altuve is hanging out with McCullers at home. The doorbell rings, surprise it's Carlos! Altuve excitedly says "CARLOS!" and they all hug. Then before he closes the door Altuve peeks outside and says "Alex?"

Hard to trust anyone over there, most of all the medical staff.

Is it assumed that its a broken hamate bone?

no, it's not a hamate. That would be easily diagnosed.

Could've hooked him up with a bone marrow concentrate injection into the fracture months ago and he'd be playing already.

I have never heard or read anything specific, but the only two bones I have heard in the hand that have an issue healing on their own are the navicular and the hamate.

With the description, the injured area isn't at the base of the thumb, and the hamate would be the bone that makes sense with what others have said the issue is the end of the bat applying pressure to the area.

Sad part is there is a good track record with the surgery and they have wasted a good deal of recovery and rehab time.

I’m afraid this Correa trade probably means sayonara to Framber next year. Crane isn’t going to live over the cap.

he'll take less to stay here and stack trophies

I don't think the issue is the anatomical structure(s) involved, I suspect it is finding an effective course of action, and as I mentioned before, Alvarez wasn't too thrilled to get the microfracture surgical repair done on the knee.

I truly think this has been more they knew what the problem was, had an idea where they would ultimately end up treatment wise, and they have been waiting for Alvarez and his camp to agree with the surgical option.

All conjecture on my part, but I don't believe the medical staff doesn't know what is wrong with the hand.

Jesus fucking Christ, Dana has been the GM since January 2023. What the fuck did you expect him to do drafting at the back of the order and with the lost picks?

Hell, Matthews is one of his and showed potential, but go ahead and get in football season mode for when Arch doesn't got for 400 and 5 in the first game.

Ah, good point on Mathews. And umm, er I don't think you quite understood the point of my comment there. I'm not calling for his head if these trades don't work out.

If we get everyone back except Paredes I see the lineup like this:

Pena(SS), Altuve(LF), Alvarez(DH), Correa(3B), Sanchez/Smith(RF), Walker(1B), Diaz/Caratini(C), Trammell/Meyers(CF), Urias/Dubon(2B).

Sanchez and Smith are too talented for a platoon right? I’ll agree Cam has played a lot of baseball and needs some days off.

I think Urias and Dubon will be moved around a ton, Urias plays all the IF spots and Dubon handles the same plus CF. Altuve will DH a lot more I would imagine till Yordan is back and then they probably share LF/DH. Sanchez will probably play more LF

That's an awful lot of benefit of the doubt for a crew who is shitty at communication/ transparency if nothing else. I get the hockey piece of misidentifying an injury publicly, but bottom line is Astros players miss a fuckton of time for a lot of 'second cuts' at injuries/ solutions.

The time missed is the measure, and going by that, they either suck ass or are repeatedly unlucky.

Keep Correa and his fragile ribs away from the massage table. Glad to have him back

That was a lie to cover up his wife attacking him in the shower after she found out he cheated.

Per Choadler:

The Astros are done, source tells @TheAthletic. Their trade deadline haul is Carlos Correa, Ramón Urías and Jesús Sánchez. Talks with Dylan Cease were legitimate and, at times, picking up steam, but ultimately never got over the finish line.

I thought it was caused by them getting freaky in the sack.

Quite an unexpected trade deadline for the Stros, IMO. We re-upped at 3B, OF, and UT, but didn't grab a single arm. And we gave up next to nothing talent-wise but took on a lot of payroll.

the team needed more MLB players, so I'm happy about these trades.  The less I see of Tiny Figurine, Taylor Tram & Short in the lineup the better.
