October

Yep, not sure why anyone is clinging to years of old when fall started in September. We will get our typical 24 hr fake fall in September but I’m geared up for blast furnace conditions through the third week of October.

Fall doesn't start in September.  BUT, the first "cool spell" that knocks it below 90 degrees for a few days does.  Now, as a dove hunter, I am pretty familiar with when that happens.  It used to be around the 19th-20th of September.  Now, it's about a week later, generally the 25th-26th.  And it lasts about 2.5-3 days.

But yeah....it's not until the 20th of Oct or so that we can usually say "summer heat is over."  It can still be hot, but generally not "summer hot."

We staved off the full force of the blast furnace until August.  That's a win compared to most years.

I think I'll be able to handle 2.5 months of this shit compared to the usual five months.

Not to mention that current forecasts show seasonal blast furnace, not record-breaking blast furnace.  I'll allow it.

My little weather update this morning reported "Very hot weather." so I clicked on it to see how hot it was going to be.  95-97 for the foreseeable future... bitch, please that ain't 'very hot weather' for this time of year.

Well it is for yankees.  And Californians.

It's not.  That said, took some visitors to the gun range yesterday afternoon.  Three hours out in that heat, and yeah....shirt was soaked through.  Drank so much water (and an agua fresca) that I had to get up and piss twice last night.  It was damned hot....yet, it was tolerable.  The guests were English, they were wilting a bit more, but even they could soldier through.  So, just "normal August hot," not "shit, we can't survive here anymore" hot.

Historically speaking, tomorrow is the last day before the worm starts to turn ever so slowly, at least in regard to average daily highs and lows. From 7/29-8/12, we're at the peak daily average of 96/77 (this is for Houston). Typically, that drops to 95/76 from 8/13-8/22, then 94/75 starting 8/23 and so forth.

Over the next 3 weeks or so, we'll drop an average of 1 degree off the average high and low every 7-8 days, before speeding up to every 5-6 days once we get into September.

Still no 100s at my house so far this year, though it was probably 99.499999999 a few days ago.

The 10 day currently stays clear of it as well, and at that point, we're getting to where it becomes a lot less likely to happen with each passing day.

Got nothing to complain about as far as summer temps this year.
