Gerry reported that Texas did reach out to OL Heard but that it didn’t go anywhere because Heard only wants to play LT and Texas has Goosby expected to be back.

I guess he didn’t want to catch dimes from Jackson Arnold.

Literal dimes from the money Arnold made. He carries them in a baggy and just tosses them at random teammates.

I still don’t know why Poku hasn’t been reached out to

Ah, the Cool River of Lubbock. Gotcha.

As for Brandon Harris, I have come to accept him for what he is, a glorified six figure travel agent. Booking fights, hotels, restaurant reservations, and probably gets to drive the van to Peter Pan Mini Golf.

Not in the 12 or 16 team playoff. Maybe 24

I went looking and the only visits I found were a Missouri visit that got canceled and a visit to Texas Tech 3 days ago. So I don’t know what going on with him.

Unfortunately, he did not like Texas at all during his recruitment.

Uh no. His buddies told him a quick and easy way to make 1 million dollars.

He is absolutely a take but I hope the plan wouldn’t be to hand him the RT spot and immediately slide Baker inside. Could be worse things like taking no O lineman but it would feel a little star fuckery.

Doubt that matters, it’s back in Texas and we probably would drop a big check. Tech makes more sense though

This is one thing I don't understand, especially from a school like UCLA. How is it not standard practice to write a thank you note to the donor who is bankrolling the player? The player doesn't ever have to write it, just have someone ghost write something and the player can sign. How can you have an organization of professionals, many of whom are specifically tasked with maintaining relationships, and no one thinks "hmm, maybe we should right a thank you note to TROY FUCKING AIKMAN." How.

Right after I graduated from college and started working at the capitol, it was things like this that made me realize that people really are stupid and no one is actually in charge.

Well, a certain individual or even group isn't really supposed to be "bankrolling" a player.

What they are permitted to do is hire a player for some use of their NIL, which ostensibly is a quid pro quo transaction that obviates a need for thanks. And, the thanks may be evidence that it is not an NIL quid quo pro, but rather something gratuitous or pay for play.

Or they can contribute to a collective, which just blurs the lines all over the place and there's no one really to write a "thank you" to, except perhaps the collective itself.

I mean @closetojumping I don’t think it was me who said no way to your 25 but it might have been. I probably said that seems a bit high to me but I know you are plugged in more so than me so I wouldn’t have argued about it.

I’ve been saying that it’s beyond obvious that the play should be pay 45 guys, tops. Pay 8 guys in a high school recruiting class and sign 16 or 20 or 24 more- whatever the number/ that are free and you hope pan out. Like 3 solid starters from that group of 26 or 20 would be great. A couple backups and the rest can fuck off or stuck around and get a degree, whether. There is 105 spots so scholarships aren’t precious, just money. you sign an offensive tackle, defensive tackle, WR, RB, CB, S every year. You sign a TE, QB, an edge and Safety that you pay every other year. You do this and that’s 32 guys a year on the roster getting paid. From there- you go get 12 one year guys from the portal every year. Bam. That’s your two deep. When the skill position talent is on the upswing you pay big. When it’s not, you try to get bottom level of playoffs to keep it running.

It’s MLB. Nobody is going to, in the long term, pay more than 40 or 50 guys. The rich schools will just pay more for top of the scale. I’d be shocked if it doesn’t end up this way.

By pay I mean more than like 25 or 50k, tops.

One thing I learned today (and never had any reason to know before I looked it up after hearing it from Heather Dinich) is that Indiana has the largest living alumni base in the country. Close second is Penn State. Texas is 6th.

Of course, who gives a fuck, but I found that somewhat interesting nonetheless.

Did he play this year for Michigan? He might be pricey if he's a developmental piece. Why pay for him twice when you can just spend money on him the following season if he pans out for some other team?

Maybe he's an academic risk...

Given the discussion in this thread I thought it was hilarious when this popped up on my timeline.

So this kid has two arms, each presumably 36”, and his wingspan is 85”? Math?

I'm kinda looking forward to ESPN's 30 for 30 follow up doc in 10 years, "Broke 2.0" wherein they'll chronicle the HS kids college players who took fast cash as teenagers, pissed it away/had it stolen from them via agents/advisors, and never amounted to shit.

They just barely missed out on NFTs

Uh…

I thought no one would eclipse the thread where someone thought your wingspan could increase or decrease with weight changes.

Yeah, but if he were, you'd think some Texas 9.95ers would hear it too. Why would Texags be the only ones hearing this.

Well thanks for the semantical clarification I guess.

Texas people have heard it. They’re all apparently considering the source.

I absolutely think Liucci is doing this for the reasons already articulated on this thread. That piece of shit isn’t really expecting Coleman to pick Texas.

Wow. You should follow up and tell everyone you got them and just wanted to see who was gullible.

Well, I guess the small silver lining is our 9.95ers have finally learned to not take Harris seriously.

Do you think stick figure drawings are anatomically accurate?

No- I comprehend that I must not understand what the measurements mean. But I’d like to one day.

I think it really depends on the stick figure.

Harris is running around acting giddy and talking shit to people about closing Coleman. That's where Brauninger and Liucci are drawing the buzz. Ketchum probably heard about it and passed it along, given that he and Liucci trade notes.

Kiss of death. Guess he's going to Alabama or something.

It would be pretty funny if Harris was calling up Looch directly to dunk on him about recruits though
