Trying to unfuck our roster via the portal was always gonna be risky - we won't be the only team chasing these dudes. That's why recruiting and development are still the way. Let's just see how it plays out before we declare failure.

Watched all of this. He doesn't have a lot of lower-the-shoulder power to his game at all. He also lacks the long speed of Isaac Brown.

He has good initial burst/acceleration, great shiftiness to avoid tacklers, and excellent patience/vision. Also a good receiver out of the backfield.

Looks like a solid all-around back and definitely an upgrade from Wisner.

The full season video above from Dan the Horn is a better representation of him actually fighting for extra yardage and showing more power than the Colorado tape. You don’t have to watch much to see it. He seemed to peace out on a few runs vs. CU, don’t know if he was dinged or just making business decisions, but the other clip may impress you more, and yes, I would agree better than Wisner.

The QB is pretty close to the best, and most of the pickups are solid. I'm pretty impressed if you take into consideration that the program has much less time on its hands as they're preparing for Oregon.

Most importantly he has an elite trait: to make the first defender who is going to hit him in the backfield after the O-line whiffs miss. That'll play at Texas.

Agree. I just wish it was looking better. Slow starts (Sark's forte) don't always mean failure.

Indiana football 2026 transfer portal tracker: Hoosiers load up again - The Herald-Times

Who has Indiana football added out of the transfer portal?

  • DE, Joshua Burnham, Notre Dame (Jan. 4)

  • RB Turbo Richard, Boston College (Jan. 4)

  • S Jiquan Sanks, Cincinnati (Jan. 4)

  • QB Josh Hoover, TCU (Jan. 4)

  • DE Tobi Osunsanmi, Kansas State (Jan. 4)

  • WR Nick Marsh, Michigan State (Jan. 4)

  • S Preston Zachman, Wisconsin (Jan. 4)

On the bright side, Cam Coleman hasn’t committed to Aggy and USC just landed a different portal receiver. Just have to survive Tech’s ISIS money.

It might work. It might not.

Ahhh, college football. The ultimate crap shoot.

I’m not sure why some of you still bother to listen to the 9.95ers. It’s their business to drum up excitement because that drives clicks. Upgrading particular positions was never going to be easy. As was stated before, letting marginal talent walk is just step 1. We still have to bid for the top free agents against other schools, no one was going to be a guarantee. Hopefully the staff/scout team had secondary options lined up. This team isn’t far away and it doesn’t necessarily need a Cam Coleman or Baugh although they would be nice to have.

Recruiting and development are much less important than winning the portal. This was last years portal rankings. Texas had obvious holes and only finished in the 20s.

Thoughts from the Weekend

It has been roughly 80 hours since the portal opened on midnight of January 2nd.

In that time, Texas has secured four signings: Three specialists and a 380-pound nose tackle from Arkansas who logged more than 460 snaps last season. Geffrard, in particular, fills a clear positional need Texas identified heading into January.

The Longhorns have also hosted the No. 1 player in the portal in WR Cam Coleman, as well as Michigan OT Andrew Sprague, Florida State DB Edwin Joseph, and several others are slated to visit Monday and beyond.

For about a month now, myself and others have been preaching the 'All In' mentality that Texas was set to bring to the portal. I believe now, I will be referring to Texas in the portal to being 'Aggressive' from here on. It's a bit misleading, going All-In typically indicates you are completely committed to a cause and will exhaust all avenues to achieve something.

Texas should still put together a very aggressive class. But what I want to shy away from is the idea that if Texas is linked to a player, that means that player will be in burnt orange next year.

It just isn't that simple.

The Isaac Brown ordeal from Sunday night reminded me a bit too much of the Kenneth Grant or Mason Graham saga from last year. Or the rumors around Peter Woods from Clemson after the CFP game. Or Chris Bell, who also returned to Louisville.

Or even for guys who did enter the portal. Remember the Jordan Addison deal as well?

Or the connection to David Bailey and Lee Hunter a year ago.

It is no secret agents and players use the Texas name and logo to garner extra dollars from the school they originally wanted to stay at.

The list of names Texas is rumored to be after mirrored that of an all-conference lineup. Some have entered the portal. Some have not. If Sunday night taught us anything about the rumored targets, it is that there is both reason for optimism and hesitancy.

I hate being wrong. And when I said it sounded like Brown and Texas were nearing a marriage, it's because that was what was portrayed to me. Yet, I was wrong.

Louisville went full LA Clippers in 2015 to re-sign DeAndre Jordan this weekend. And it worked.

What gets overlooked at times is, hey, some other schools are in positions where they need to match the desperation of Texas.

However, there is no reason Texas should not be one of the most aggressive schools in the country when it comes to the portal this window. Arch Manning's final year + one of the game's most instant gamebreakers in Colin Simmons spearheads your defense.

Again, I do believe Texas is going to fill the majority of its needs

If going All In is the true message this year, there is no reason to penny pinch. No reason to sit on money. No reason to look for deals. You do what is required to get the deal done. That goes for Cam Coleman, the Michigan offensive linemen and for now, whatever is necessary to get a true bell cow at Texas for 2026.

I guess to wrap this up, my approach to Texas in the portal moving forward is this: Texas will be aggressive.

How aggressive? I don't know. History tells me they will finish 2nd or 3rd in portal fights that they would have liked to have won when looking back around week 3 or week 9 of the season.

Meh someone posted this on OTF. Not sure source. Raleek seems quicker than Tre but in those highlights I'm not sure he looks that much better than Clark did against Michigan tbh.

Wisner Yards after Contact per attempt: 3.25

Raleek Brown: 3.28

Isaac Brown: 5.33

Edit: and Vogel posted this one

Missed tackles forced

  • Raleek: 53

  • Wisner: 13

  • Durham: 10

Edited by Tex-19

Raleek Brown is a definite add to take the spot the UL guy was supposed to take. But he’s not a 1st and 2nd down grinder guy.

Ah, yes. I did actually watch the full, longer video. Just quoted the wrong post. He does fight, just not a ton of power. Still a very good all-around back.

I think at best he is a replacement for Wisner what I mean by that is he is a #2 back. Yet, if the price is possibly higher than Wisner why not keep Wisner? At least we know Wisner was good in pass pro. This guy I don't know since there is not much of that in the highlights.

Schools like Tech, Florida, and aggy dont give a fuck about that. I think that's where the issue is.

You overthink things, a lot.

This guy is pretty tiny, but he plays tough and he’s fast as shit. He would be a great option in the passing game and in two back sets.

I think he was a Mater Dei kid too, so there’s definitely some familiarity

He has good durability and knows the difference between hurt and injured. That said, he shouldn't be and won't be the every down back. I expect they would use him in a range of plays and scheme between Keilan Robinson and Blue.

Has Jakobi Brown (the other Florida back) signed with anyone? I am surprised Texas hasn't shown an interest. He's a bigger back and he's pretty good. I can't remember if he was hurt a lot or not, though.

How many of those players they signed were the best at their position? Indiana isn’t going after the Cam Coleman’s or trying to entice a Jayden Baugh into the portal. They’ve signed a few very good players - but none of those guys are top players being chased by multiple top teams.

Marsh is someone I would consider at the top of the WR heap with a few others. I envy that signing.

CJ is just as susceptible to knee jerking as the average poster. He’s gotten better about that since his TFB days, but it’s still there.

More players will enter the portal, agents see what happened with Brown/Baugh getting cold feet and see an opportunity for their clients (and themselves) at Texas. Someone quality will shake loose.

Waiting for more WR targets to pop up though.

It's hardwired into Texas fandom to be envious of what others have and pessimistic about what we already have.

I agree with this sentiment and have been banging the same drum for a long time. But at some point I have to ask, what is the point of having "fuck you" money if you never say "fuck you"? I get that we have a lot of money dedicated to keeping our current roster happy. And I get that (over)paying for a transfer player can upset the room. But are those really factors for our OL room? It seems like we can get someone at guard of Goosby's quality for Goosby money without rocking the boat too much.

I readily admit my ignorance on this subject and am probably just being impatient. We've got irons in the fire. But I don't think we'll feel good about how frugal and smart we are if this portal window closes without us taking some quality OL, regardless of how much they cost.

You have to look at cost now and since we don't know what these players cost either Texas staff is going for better value to sign a couple of high end players or Texas staff just got some sticker shock and wish they had kept some of the players we already had in house. Only they will know the truth.

Trying to unfuck our roster via the portal was always gonna be risky - we won't be the only team chasing these dudes. That's why recruiting and development are still the way. Let's just see how it plays out before we declare failure.

You know it’s not just our decision whether to keep someone or not. If they wanna leave, we can’t hold them hostage.

The good stuff

Consider this your daily reminder that Geoff Ketchum is a fat, stupid fuck.

Guys..Guys..we are ALL-IN this year. Don't ask why we were not ALL-In last year. But this year, we are surely ALL-IN. We were predicting a national championship run last year but you see, we were not ALL-IN and so a dogshit OL and their coach is to be overlooked. The difference this year, however, is that we are ALL-IN, because this is Arch Manning's last year and that is special. We may be outbid for a player or two by Louisvilles and Baylors and Indianas of the world but have solace in the fact the we are ALL-IN and AGGRESSIVE. How AGGRESSVE? I don't know. But the vibe in that building is ALL-IN.

If Ketch actually said this he is even more retarded than I previously thought. And I already had him as Ben Stiller playing Simple Jack

It just worked for Louisville /s

CJ2K Jr just hit the portal (Chris Johnson Jr from SMU). Is he as fast as his pops?

At the moment, feels like we are going to land for the most part our defensive targets and offense is going to be a roller coaster.

ASU (and probably Raleek Brown) thought he was going pro. I'm guessing his draft grade isn't where he wanted it to be.

Not as great of a receiving option as you'd think, though how much of that was Jeff Sims and Leavitt's laser focus on Jordyn Tyson, I don't know. USC tried to turn him into a WR after he looked pretty good as freshman RB, and that didn't work out at all. He's serviceable, but you look at the skillset and think he should be some kind of monster in the passing game.

None of that's to say he isn't a very good RB. He's patient, he's playing over 190 this year so he isn't the shrimp he once was, and obviously he can make people miss. He moves really well. He'll be a clear upgrade for you and, I think, will pair well with Christian Clark. Maybe Sark can get him more involved as a receiver- He certainly seems like he should be lethal out of the backfield.

How has the Juluke hire not helped with Baugh? It seems to have helped with other schools pulling in their previous QB/RB's

Just watched some Chris Johnson Jr highlights and I would very much approve of him as the speed RB. Probably a lot cheaper than Raleek too
