You think Livingstone was told he was 6th after Moore declared, and we haven’t signed anyone in the portal? You think we told him he was behind locket, French, and shitty AF mccutcheon? Our exiting depth insists he’s third. You’re making shit up out of whole cloth.

16 people didn’t enter the portal because they wanted more money. 12 dudes entered the portal because they knew they’d never have playing time worth a shit at Texas, like say Jerrick Gibson. 4 guys entered the portal because they wanted more money than we think they’re worth.

You’re on the football board, not the recruiting board. But claiming the football board as the smartest board in surly is surely a take .

If a kid is told he 6 on the rotation of 4, regardless of the money you are pushing him out. You know he isn't just going to "not play". It's not even a conspiracy. It's what coaches do when they want to push people out. It's weird to me that you guys think 16 people went into the portal because they wanted more money. Lol. But I will leave y'all too it. This is why I stay off the recruiting board.

Snaps, targets, and dollars are practically fungible in this world. He thinks he's better than Sark does. I don't know who's right, but I don't think the end result has to be nefarious. You are putting words in my mouth. I also stay off the recruiting board.

Funny how money seems to fuck everything up.

If the kid thought he deserved my snaps and targets the answer would be to bust his arse in the off season, have a great spring, stack and even better summer program, and reap the benefits in the Fall.

Unfortunately in this version of college football the money issue gets in the way or at least that is the case from my 10000 foot view.

All this arguing over a player about to be a sooner. Fuck that guy if that happens. It was mentioned up thread but if his scholarship was not pulled then it was his decision to leave not the coaches. The player just made it easy for the coaches if that’s what they wanted. Bet all these portal players play for cheaper somewhere else which sucks for Texas if Texas wanted to keep them.

How, exactly, is the admin pushing this narrative?

It's not hard to push a narrative through the 995ers' sources. Not that I agree that a narrative has been pushed, but it's very common for organizations to leak stories as part of a broader PR strategy.

Understood. I'm asking where the proof is that is happening here. Because I think somebody here is just talking out of their ass.

No, of course not. Why would he do that? No way...

Livingstone got more than his fair share of red zone targets (and corresponding TDs) early in the season, when the joke was that only white guys were allowed to score TDs. That is also the part of the season when we sucked the most. He made some good catches, to be sure, even after the Florida, Kentucky, and Mississippi State games. But if Bobby is right about a mid-six NIL being on the table, that's more or less the most I'd be willing to pay. I don't believe he will develop or produce more than what we'd already seen. It's really the Wisner thing all over again.

Is Livingstone's agent anyone with a respectable reputation? I don't believe you'd walk away from the spillover perks of being Arch Manning's roommate unless you're being told (wrongly) that you're leaving serious money on the table by taking a mid-six offer.

In the interest of fairness fuck Mandel and all the social media muckrakers who only care about what shit they can throw out quickly and carries the type of stench that draws notice instead of asking if there is more to the story.

Let's make the bitterness beautiful to process...

Dude, I've addressed everything you've said. Given you scenarios. The player himself comes out and tweets. You are just going to call anyone that has that opinion a liar. You see, when the program says its about money it turns into he said she said and the player is the one who looks like the asshole. There is no proving it one way or the other. Dude played in the bowl game. 24 hours later he is in the portal and pissed off. I was told he was informed he didn't have much a role here. You were told he wanted 800k. Bobby says he was offered mid 6 figures.

I guess RS Freshman Nate Kibble didn't like his money either huh? That's 17 kids that have now portaled out. From a blue blood that is winning with a top tier QB and one of the best DCs in the country. You check writers need to get to work.

At this rate, lamentations over the transfer of Parker Livingstone are on track to reach levels previously attained only by the departure of Savion Red.

You are a receiver on the team. Early part of the season you are involved. Towards the end of the season your touches and time on the field drops. You are out of the starting rotation and are the 4th guy coming in. You can feel that. You can feel your role slipping away. You probably had a talk or two about what you can do to get on the field more. You aren't going to come in all cocky asking for 800k. It doesn't even make sense. Now it makes sense that Moore would do that, but a guy who has only played this year and a limited role at that? come on.

Nobody has said anything about not meeting the ask on most of those other transfers. Livingstone, Moore, Wisner. That’s the list so far. The others were very obviously told their place in the order and didn’t like it. That’s todays football.

Unless he was having his scholarship revoked, it was all in his control. Take what's offered compete for playing time, prove em wrong on both counts.

Or bounce.

Your call.

And if he wants to blame it on his agent he can always send his agent packing. This was 100% within his control because his scholarship was not being revoked.

My opinion, I dont know the guy, there are ways to make it obvious without saying (IU is offering more $$$). Just go to IU, great program, youre going to play and win a lot and make way more money there than at Texas. Leave a thank you note on social and move on.

Instead we get another bullshit PR stunt which gets all the media going. And not to mention an ou visit? Really guy? Go for it.

Tired of the bleeding heart media "Texas forces him to leave" bullshit. We clearly have a different valuation, we just spent a season + with him. IU feels differently. Move on.

Well, all that said. being recruited over, with or without the money, definitely sends a signal.

I think the money commitment makes that signal even worse. The investment in the player recruited over you makes it more likely they get snaps regardless of merit.

I'm glad this crap didn't come along until I was older, more cynical, and less inclined to give a shit. When I was a student and for some years after, I saw these guys as a lot like me and my fellow students (hello fellow kids!).

He might be sitting 3rd as of last week, but this is about projecting to next year. Nobody knows exactly where he'd stand heading into the fall, but it's not unreasonable that the UT staff told Parker that they are currently projecting him as a 5/6/7 guy (and wanting to pay him accordingly, maybe even with a little extra for being an awesome team guy). At some point, you have to hope/expect that some of the highly recruited young guys are going to pass up Parker. I don't know shit about fuck, but this is how I'd project the receiver room heading into fall -

Portal guy (I assume a starter)

Wingo

Mosley

Locket

Livingstone/French/Mccutheon/Bishop fighting to get into the rotation

Injuries can happen and people can regress, but I can't blame Parker for not wanting to compete for a starting job in that room (particularly if Wingo returns and we get a proven portal guy). Parker has proven he can be a solid P4 starter and I hate to see him go, but I guess I'm OK rolling the dice hoping we'll have 4-5 guys that are better in the lineup next year.

I don’t blame Texas for making a firm offer that he could take and standing on it.

I don’t blame Jaggy for deciding he’d rather try on the open market.

I don’t blame Texas for letting him walk.

That said, Jaggy McJaggerson can go get fucked and never make it out of obscurity for turning this into a victimhood, clubhouse lawyer play. He attempted to politic for his buddies to go in and take a stand for him to get what he thought he was due. He then went to the press and known writers who salivate over the opportunity to paint any blue blood as an evil machine. Then he cozies up with OU? Yeah, fuck you, dipshit. Go drop passes and be a wealthy redneck wannabe somewhere else.

Yeah, making negative comments once the door has already closed does nothing but hurt his value in the open market. On one hand, I think that these guys have agents and surely they would be advising them to exit gracefully. But then I remember these are young kids who think "winning" on social media actually matters. And many of the agents are probably young and dumb also. I did all kinds of dumb emotional shit when I was that age, so I'm not hating on Parker for being bitter and taking a little dig on the way out. Dumb and pointless, but whatever.

I’m in favor of whatever clears the path for Bishop to get on the field as soon as possible. Dude could be our Malachi Toney

This is exactly right, and it is good for the program to not get bullied or intimidated by this kind of bullshit and it is good for the players in the program to see what happens when guys try to pull this kind of bullshit. Too many guys have a distorted view of their own worth. They should be free to pursue whatever avenues they like, but that doesn't make Texas the bad guy, and Texas is under no obligation to overpay because of feelings. This is a good development for the future of the program.

Feels like Sark has had enough of every random role player walking in his office and asking for $1M, and Parker got made into an example.

If that's the case well done IMO. Guy was a decent #4 WR but that doesn't mean you pay him like a #2 WR. Made that mistake last year.

Finally can tell my aggy story.

Have a good insight into this kids recruitment and I’m still laughing about his visit to aggy. Dude gets his player host (I’ll let y’all find who that is) and since it was midweek the host has to go to class, Livingstone gets invited to attend class as well but the player host was extremely late, got kicked out of class and went back to his dorm to smoke weed until practice while leaving Livingstone in the class.

Livingstone sits through this dudes underwater bb stacking class or whatever and goes to the football facility by his lonesome for practice to see if he can even find his host. He still can’t, but he proceeds to listen to Jimbo and Petrino mother fuck each other and their players for the next two hours. Just pure hatred between those two, the only people they hate more than each other is their players, all of them. Kid leaves a day early and aggy doesn’t understand why…

On the flip side, the whole family can’t brag enough on Jackson and how much they love him. I think he’s gonna be a beast, welcome to the 40 kid!

Who remembers this one?

The criticism of Sark and Texas in this situation is kinda funny.

Probably moreso than any other program, Sark has tried to retain players and keep some sense of normalcy & consistency with the roster. He got some key portal additions but didn't go crazy. This was the ideal way to be successful, and two straight semifinal appearances understandably felt good.

Bigger picture, I think Sark wanted to continue to build the positions rooms from within and trust their development/evaluations, but we clearly got burned this year. You simply don't have time to build/develop when everyone else is making immediate fixes/upgrades to their rosters. I actually commend him for trying to keep it old school and not immediately succumbing to the huge free agent frenzy. But now he has to fully give in to the portal/NIL era.
