No, fuck us for how we showed up against Florida.

In a couple of years, it'll work out just fine when the playoffs expand to 16...and 24 teams

Fuck it, let's just go to 128.  We'll play the whole regular season to find out which 8 teams out of 136 don't make it.

Our OOC every year needs to be UTEP and UTSA (every year to keep the money in the system) at home, and a G5 from Texas, NM or NMSU, Tulsa, Ark St, or any G5 from Louisiana

absolutely no fucking need to play big times. Jesus look at the Big 12 and ACC cake walks for fucks sake. Tech now has the easiest path year in and year out for the playoff

68 of 361 D1 basketball teams make the NCAA Tournament. I don't hear too many complaints about 17.6% of the teams qualifying for that. That's the direction this is headed.

Just eliminate a few of the 42 bowl games

expanding the field to 68 is one of the least popular things that’s ever happened anywhere in my lifetime. college hoops fans couldn’t have raised more hell about it.

Hell, FCS narrows their 129 teams from 13 conferences down to 24 teams for a playoff. I figure with 4 conferences and 67 teams a plan can be squared away pretty easy. Copy and fucking paste.

Really?

Maybe it's just you and the other uber-fans. I doubt we'd hear any complaining now if UT were included in a 16-team playoff.

I'll never defend OU but fuck the G5 in their ass. Tulane getting in over Texas is the real travesty here.

4th quarters against Georgia & Vanderbilt were the final nails in our coffin.

If we had lost to Georgia by 4 and beaten Vandy by 24, things would be much different today.

That's where it's so ironic.

In one NIL class of 24 4 stars tech has seemingly perfected the easy playoff cake walk that Texas seemed to strive for prior to folding and joining the sec.

They're going to run that conference and be a yearly playoff staple by default now.

I thought 9-3 Texas didn't belong after the UGA game. Today, looking at everyone's resumes plus knowing how we handled aggy, we do belong.

ND has wins over no one making the CFP. Texas has wins over aggy and ou plus the aggy H2H.

Agree that UT is a Top 12 team, but we all know aggy is a paper tiger. They'll get exposed again in the playoffs. OU probably will, too, with their shitty offense.

I'm here for it.

B12 conference removed two bluebloods and added 4 easy wins.  It wasn't as bad as the ACC until we left.

Maybe, but who could've predicted their BMDs were gonna support Tech at unprecedented levels? It's remarkable what they've done in a short time up in Lubbock.

are some of y’all trying to be “good fans” or “objective” or something when you say that it’s the florida loss that’s keeping us out? cuz y’all know that’s not true right? it’s only been repeated 10,000 times, but if we had scheduled a cupcake week 1 we’d not only be on the playoff, but right now people would be asking if a 2-loss Texas should be ranked higher than a&m.

99% of teams out there lose unexpected conference games every year, just lay an egg on the road for one reason or another. it doesn’t matter. that’s not why we’re out. we’re out because, in the eyes of the committee, every single 2-loss team is better and more deserving than every 3-loss team. we had to play florida; we didn’t have to play the undefeated no.1 team on the road, and if we hadn’t, we’d be in solidly in the playoff field with zero questions.

This has made me realize that we have a bit of a complex as a fanbase. We have people that truly think we are capable of rolling out 2005 Texas every year and should just mow any and everybody down that's in the way.

Won't ever happen. ESPN makes a ton of money off these weekly selection shows. The hype around releasing the brackets after all the dust settles. They love this. It gives something to discuss all year.

16 teams is the way to go. I've said that well before this year. Cut all the byes out. I believe we will end up at this number in the next 5-7 years.

This is what's keeping us out. The weekly release of the bracket. If there was only 1 release on December 7th, they could justify a 3 loss Texas team. They've painted themselves into a corner now and can't justify a huge jump for Texas without BOMC types losing their shit.

since our loss to florida the only other game we’ve lost has been on the road vs top 5 georgia, and we just beat the undefeated #3 team in the country to finish with two losses in the sec.

after bama lost to vandy, their version of the florida loss, they went and lost two more conference games vs tennessee (24-17) and a sub-.500 oklahoma team (24-3).

the two situations are not the same.

No, they're better than us and the schedule has fuckall to do with it.

You mean from 64 right?  Because I don’t know anyone who wants it at 32. 64 was perfect 68 is dumb. I think going from 12 to 16 or 24 will be very well received by most- especially if first 2 or 3 rounds are at home fields.

Don't lose to Florida and the Horns are still in the CFP. Don't struggle to put away fucking Kentucky and Miss St and it might be an easier sell to get a 3 loss team in when 2 losses are to top 5 teams. Yeah, the schedule didn't help, but at the same time, just beat the teams you're supposed to and split the real challengers (UGA, OU, ATM, tOSU) and they're in.

the argument you’re making is one that says “two sec losses should eliminate texas from the playoff.” why would we even join this conference if that was the case? how would that make any sense at all? we *have* to play a full sec schedule, and like 95% of sec teams we're going to lose a couple of those games. nobody will punish us for that, but they will punish us for having a third non-con loss, no matter who it’s against.

when you schedule the undefeated no.1 team in the country for a game in august after losing 25 players from the previous two seasons to the nfl draft that shouldn’t be what knocks you out of the playoff, but for 2025 Texas it is. our 7-point loss on the road in august hurt us more than our drubbing at the hands of florida did. nobody would be talking about the florida loss right now if we’d played utep week 1.

What’s even worse is the self loathing. If we don’t do that we deserve to be shit all over and sit in the corner like a dumbass. Meanwhile Saban got to lose once every year with no problem when the conferences were much more balanced and that wasn’t the deal for everyone else. Texas has to be generational in talent or many in our fanbase are like fuck it- we suck.
