New year, new thread. Coach Boom is back! Neal Brown took a lot of our off field support staff with him to North Texas so it should be fun to see how we reload. We are currently waiting to see who we are going to hire to coach safeties and whether or not we will retain Johnny Nansen or the nickels Coach Keynodo Hudson. Seems like Coach Baker and Coach Clark are safe. Chris Jackson has been extended, and Flood is getting one more shot. Jeff Banks has been disappointing, my pipe dream is to bring in either a TE coach or a new ST coach to take some responsibility away from him because it simply hasn’t looked good these past few seasons for one of the few million dollar position coaches in the country. Sark made the first big balls move of his tenure in moving on from PK, now comes the excitement of seeing what else he has up his sleeve. Sark, stunt on these hoes.

Love OTF but they don't need to go into the trying to go viral with funny graphic word business

That's a little surprising considering nickel (ie Littleton) was one of the bright spots of the defense this year

And it’s not even good text format they used.

When given freedom, a new coordinator is likely to prefer coaches he’s worked with before or otherwise believes are a good fit. We know that muschamp is being given the ultimate freedom of a defensive fiefdom, so if he doesn’t know a coach it’s not surprising that he would make a change.

I don't understand why people eat this shit up.

fan: what are you hearing on the coaching front?

995er: well, defensive coaches need to be hired, Muschamp is busy doing that. I'm hearing he's being deliberate and methodical, but he's an intense guy so it could move faster.

fucking stupid.

Yeah, Muschamp is going to want some of his own guys at the least, particularly if he has to keep Nansen because he and Sark are boys. Muschamp’s position specialty is Safety, so I’m sure he has specific thoughts on that position and nickel.

Sark firing the wrong coaches.

I thought Hudson helped us in Louisiana plus Littleton was a bright spot

Sark is probably letting Muschamp build his own staff.

On the defensive side, Sark is going all-in with Muschamp. Once that call was made, he has no other choice than to let him fill out his staff any way he wants. In for a penny, in for a pound.

Wasn’t Juluke also hired for his connections in Florida, Georgia and Louisiana?

Well, I sure hope Muschamp keeps Baker.

Gerry said today that Muschamp loves Baker, so don’t expect to see him leave.

Well, that’s just fantastic because I also happen to love Baker.

So, Banks gets to stay?

Sark and Banks are buds. He's not going anywhere. I think the same for Flood too probably.

Guess it’s an opportunity he couldn’t let slip through his fingers.

That’s Sark’s biggest problem. Too loyal to his friends on the staff

He keeps them around because they enable him. They let him do whatever the fuck he wants in regards to the offense and play calling.

Do most subordinates stop their bosses from running things the way they want to?

I was gonna say, he’s the OC and playcaller. It’s his offense.

That's just about all football coaches.

Hence, them not being fired...lol. It's not hard to understand.

Are we sure he’s the best choice?

Ah, sweet. It's so awesome that his buds get to stay and continue sucking.

At the time they're hired, are we ever sure anyone is?

I mean, yeah, I understand it could still happen, but if we end up keeping those two after their units have sucked so badly, then wtf are we even doing?

In comparison, aggy just promoted two interns to position coaches while we bring in an alum that was a DC for a top 20 team

Your point - at least what you make it sound like your point - is that the head coach is answerable to his subordinates. In what sphere or field of endeavor is that the case? Them being friends may or may not be why they keep their jobs, but it is a non sequitor as it applies to Sarkisian's play calling. They got nothing to do with that.

He's Muschamp's choice. I would like someone to present evidence that Blake Gideon sucks as a coach. When he was coaching here, he was handcuffed by PK, as was Joseph. And the safety play was better than it was this year. Just because the dropped pick against Tech still stings, does it stand to follow that he's a poor coach? Or is it just, "Well, I just don't like him?" Will Muschamp thinks he's a good coach.

No...that's not my point
