  1. So my wife went to HEB a few days ago and since I was busy mowing the lawn she took our cute little dog Monster with her to the store. She only ran in to the store for a short list of essentials (hemmorhoid cream, Mountain Dew Zero, Busch Light and Hot Sauce). She put the dog in her crate and cracked the window. She sprayed water and dropped a bunch of ice cubes into the crate to keep her cool. Our dog has a disorder that makes her whine when she is happy. Well apparently some know it all WANNABE HERO KAREN walked by wifes car and called the police because she heard Monster whining. It was only 100 degrees and like I said we cooled down the crate with ice. Then the jerk opened my wife's car door and stole our dog FROM THE CAR until the police arrived. Once out of the store my wife was SHOCKED to see the police, a security guard and this KAREN holding my STOLEN dog. After a heated discussion with all involved my wife got Monster back. I am thinking we should sue this lady for emotional distress and theft. Thoughts??

  5. Brisketexan: "The soliders WILL commit acts of violence. It's who they are." JBJ: "You could just as easily be talking about the protestors." Huckleberry: "What a stupid thing to say." JBJ: "How many times have they set federal buildings on fire? That's why the federal soldiers have to be there and protect buildings." Huckleberry: "Good question. How many?" JBJ: "I dunno." Huckleberry: "I thought you knew. I don't know of any. They set local municipality buildings on fire twice." Many others: "Yeah, they haven't set any federal buildings on fire." JBJ: "Nobody can answer me, that's why my point is awesome."

  6. Here's what rubs me. Father asshat knows that Texas is way more than a football team. Texas is a revered educational institution. What starts here does change the fucking world. For the most part, we do not partake the blatant cheating that institutions of lower learning (most of the entire fucking $EC) do namely because they do not have any sort of academic reputation to protect. He knows that in today's world with the NCAA turning a blind eye to the blatant cheating, Texas is at a disadvantage competing with glorified community colleges like bama. Texas is his and his father's alma mater. So instead of trying to continue the legacy of helping Texas hold to that high standard, he wants to ship his kids off to help a glorified community college continue to ruin the integrity of college football. Yea FUCK that entire family.

  9. Oh we're not emotional about the fact that you're being a doofus. What you've done so far on this thread is essentially try to change your approach from "Hey guys, I don't know anything but assume that the DHS soldiers tear-gassing and abusing American citizens who haven't done anything wrong are in the right, obviously. What's up?" to "No seriously, I don't want to read, someone spoon feed me information. Just asking questions, guys." and now drifting toward "I hope everyone else isn't emotional, I just want to see these citizens prove their innocence otherwise violent assault by officers who aren't identifying themselves is perfectly understandable. Presumption of guilt is a bedrock of our nation."

  11. Your questions have been answered pretty extensively, just takes a little searching. Lots of advanced tech in GIS, analytics, advanced algorithms, and AI have made all of this pretty quantifiable and pretty fast. That's all unfortunately being used right now to make gerrymandering worse. Let's just start using it for good instead of for bullshit. Start here: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/we-drew-2568-congressional-districts-by-hand-heres-how/ You'll notice scenarios that basically outline the criteria you provided. If the goal is to redraw districts in a way that is completely blind to partisan influence, #7 and #8 do that. If you think counties are an adequate representation of "communities of interest," you'd probably prefer #8 (you can switch maps at the top): https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/redistricting-maps/#Compact This is also a good read if you're interested in how to do this without partisan influence, but also allowing some resource allocation capabilities: https://phys.org/news/2017-11-algorithm-combat-gerrymandering.html This all really isn't any different from the technology that city planners use to place resources throughout the community (link above mentions placing fire stations so you can serve the most people with the fewest resources). It's also generally the approach big chains (McDonald's etc) use to place restaurants in order to keep profitability high. You can do something even more simple like minimize the average ratio of perimeter to area for all districts. Our society and economy are already very good at solving these problems, and in the exact ways you described. The problem is the lack of political will to use them or advocate for them. At some point, Dems will be the ones in control of how districts are drawn. I don't want that, and you probably don't either. Why not get on board right now and prevent the generational yoyo of partisan gerrymandering bullshit? It's terrible in both directions.

  14. I honestly can't get over people like @veerbone and the rest of the DT brigade. They spent 8 years crying. Eight years wailing and blubbering like hysterical children that Obama was going to fucking grind them into the ground. They screamed at us that he was going to take their guns and take their religion. He was going to build the federal government into an unstoppable machine. A few years later, videos are posted showing armed Federal soldiers attacking innocent civilians. Those same posters now smirk and smile when seeing those videos. The current administration tells them "wait, there's more! We're also sending Federal troops into many other cities to do the same thing." And they cheer.

  20. The Rivals acquisition of Alliance is the only reason they still exist at all. They purchased a bundled base of loyal fucks they could drop their national perspective on top of. Heckman built the damn thing to collect ad revenue, (which he did again with Scout before selling it off) and the national perspective has always been about driving click traffic. They've attempted to co-opt many different revenue models, including the adidas partnership, pay to camp, elite camp, etc. all while using the actual revenue drivers, the team sites, as cheap labor. There are really decent Rivals team sites out there that have their own sources and push their own content. Ketch is a garbage human and can't help himself but to feed the beast, so OBs is unfortunately not an example of a stellar Rivals site. The major issue Rivals will have to confront will be adding subs, which the national group hasn't paid attention to in too long. Recruiting content is all about rankings, insider info, and video highlights. Rivals has decided that they want to offer counter culture rankings (see ad revenue), limit their insiders to regional (as opposed to by school), and try to do the rest with camps. Miscalculation, you stupid fucks. How do camps add revenue to team sites? You know, the lifeblood of your business? They don't. The team site subscriber base is going to take a hit when they age out of caring. Go look around OBs at the active poster "Member since" date. '02, '03.... And they don't have the backing of a CBS type. Yahoo isn't throwing money around anymore. If they were really smart, they would go buy up one of these recruiting analytics startups and begin incorporating data. Hell, even SI is putting out a superior recruiting product right now which is run by one guy in a closet somewhere, cranking through video and doing real rankings and real work. All of this to opine that Rivals will never be a legitimate site for national information. You're at the mercy of your team site, and if you attempt to look beyond that, you're just feeding the click machine.

  24. What's fascinating regarding this particular individual's psychosis is that what the rest of us think would be most important -- a winning election strategy -- is not actually what's important to him. A winning election strategy is to have 50%+1 who find you preferable to the other candidate. That's it. Not a one of them even needs to LIKE you; they just need to prefer you to the alternative. But that's not what Trump wants. Trump wants -- he NEEDS -- the people who support him to not just support him, but adore him. Adore and worship. When he said he could shoot a man on Fifth Ave and not lose supporters, he wasn't commenting on how much support he has. He was commenting on what's really important to him -- the fact that the supporters he DOES have would do whatever he tells them to do, and will worship him like a god. So, he's pursuing a strategy that ensures that the folks who DO support him will not just merely support him -- they will worship and adore him as a god. If that turns out to be less than 50%, he's not even considering. That's not how he measures support. He doesn't measure or value support by volume; he only values it based on degree.

  25. Not to derail this thread, but this makes me sad. Not because I don't agree with your children. I understand them. I feel similarly. But that kind of polarizing hatred and lack of an open mind that you at one time entertained, during their formative years, just shows me how fucked up we likely are in regards to passionless decision making, continued divisiveness, and an inability to compromise. It's like the Cubans in Florida that hear Socialist and run as far to the right as they can reflexively. The antics of the conservative right, as Brickhorn has touched in in regards to war, are poisoning the more reasoned and rational progressives and turning them into the same thing. Just with different views. I see it every time folks cheer on the Lincoln Project (which I also do as well), or proclaiming that candidates need to fight dirty to win. And I agree. We need to fight dirty to win. And fighting dirty seems to be the only way to win. And in that regard, in a way, we've already lost. Is it too early for Bourbon?

I don't wish anybody ill will for the most part...but I sure as shit don't have to wish them good will either. This is going to end badly for them. Mercenaries get treated like mercenaries. Good luck with that Bama education if football doesn't work out for you.

  35. Got back from the NM ranch sunday. It cooled off just in time for us, days where in the mid 70s, nights in the high 50s. Absolutely perfect. Been dry out that way lately, monsoon hasn't really been as good as they need so the grass is a bit bare. Most of the landscape shots are from when we took the Ranger up into the Cibola National Forest which abuts the ranch. On the high elevation parts the Very Large Array (VLA) is off in the distance. Didn't see as many elk this time, only saw a few females and babies run across the vega. Did see some mule deer like the one in the pic.

  36. They are. Also, Portland is probably the whitest city in the US. They were targeted by the feds deliberately. Ultimately, this has always been an urban/rural divide. Its true that urban areas have failed at controlling PD unions. Its time for state and national governments to allow municipalities to control municipal entities. We pay all the taxes. We get no mental or physical health funding. No infrastructure funding. No education funding. Instead, our security forces get money whipped with our money against our will. Sure, urban areas don't produce much food, but I could buy all the produce in Iowa more cheaply if I bought it from a warlord.
