The movie you just watched

Recommended Posts

I watched (the original) Point Break today.   Seen it a million times and still love it, but what I find really hilarious about that movie is at the end where Johnny Utah lets Bodie go to ride the wave in the 100 year storm.   Bodie tells Johnny he has been waiting his whole life for this.   Then precedes to only get up on the wave for about 10 feet before eating ass and drowning.   He was only up for like 2 seconds.

Incredibly entertaining comedy, now available on Netflix. Eddie Murphy knocked it out of the park on this one.

Eddie Murphy is back. Wesley Snipes stole some scenes,  but Wesley Snipes has been back, see What We Do in the Shadows.

The similarities between the film and Bowfinger are remarkable. Credit to Murphy for going back to what works.

Black k Klansman

We liked it. I'd leave out the jump to the present time at the end, but I thought it was very solid in its consideration of prejudice with a focus on taking people as individuals. Great cast. Spike Lee's path as a filmmaker has been very interesting. I don't think he could have made such a good movie on this topic 20 years ago.

edit: I make it sound like a dissertation on film. It's actually quite entertaining from the wit of the characters and the tensions that build.

Just saw the Midway remake.  40% critic/90% viewer rating on rotten tomatoes.  Viewer rating is more accurate. If Pearl Harbor was a D, this is a solid B.  Extra points for historical accuracy.

The Conversation - 1974

So weird that this was done the same year they released Godfather Part 2.   This one feels slow, and dated as heck.  Hackman's slow burn is affective.  But slow.

I'm pretty much very much hit or miss on the Coppola catalogue  complete buy in on the big ones, and a big love for Rumblefish and the Outsiders, and the goofy Peggy Sue,   But a lot in there that I don't get.

Anyway, in the film, this guy is smart:
