That yawn is a real problem in this country. You're embracing hate-engine politics at its basest level. You're so accustomed to it, that it invokes a yawn. It's why we're lost as a democracy.16 points

The President of the United States is supposed to be above all that idiotic banter, you dumb fucks. Words matter when they come from the Oval Office. Or, they used to. Like all of his real estate deals throughout his shitty life, Trump will leave the White House permanently devalued.12 points

Arya killing the night king was bad ass. Sending the cavalry out alone was ridiculously stupid. Who’s idea was that? Tyrion fucking up again?7 points

You are the poster you quoted. A bleeding vagina on this board. You were all sunshine when Charlie was here, but now that we have an actual football coach, all you do so bitch and moan. The program is in a much better place than when Charlie was here and yet you can’t find a shred of optimism unlike how you could when the worst coach in Texas history was in charge.7 points

Basic strategy should have to hold with unsullied spears and flank around with Dothraki Calvary. At least, that’s what I do in all Total War games. Did anyone else think the lighting was too dark? It was hard to tell what was happening sometimes.6 points

You have a problem with conflating cause and effect, don't you? GDP growth reached 5% during the Obama administration. So, no tax cuts DO cause economic growth? Huh. Never would have guessed.6 points

What if the sentence is about universities who share a state with other universities who have cultish qualities, bizarre clothing customs, onerous rules, and perverse sexual practices?5 points

Yes, but the symbolism is important. You're fighting death. You can't see it coming for you. I also loved the Dothraki hoard being cut down in a few seconds and all we saw was torches being extinguished in the distance. Amazing.5 points

Pasta Aglio e Olio. First, toast some garlic and pepper flake in EVOO while cooking a pot of linguine. Stir in the cooked pasta, along with finely chopped parsley, juice of half a lemon, and some reserved pasta water. Toss over low heat, adding salt and pepper to taste. Plate with everyone’s favorite, fresh grated Parmesan.5 points

I know this thread got some traction on that Website that is not to be named, some of our brethren got some sound advice and help, so, I am reprising it here with my first post. To update, Mrs. Lid the Sequel and I are divorced, she is in another relationship, my daughter did not survive and I am and forever will be on a completely different life/soul path. I hope the thread brings peace to some on here: And so: Having read the "I'm an alcoholic" thread with great interest, and in order not to improperly $#@! on that very informative and substantive (especially for the Shag) thread, I thought I'd see if there is any interest in this topic. So, let me start.5 years ago, I married an alcoholic. I knew at the time that she was an alcoholic. A little over 2 years before our marriage (the second for both of us), she had entered Starlight Rehab for 30 days. In fact, I was on the verge of ending things when she announced she is going. I waited for 2 years to see if indeed, she had turned a corner and was keeping the demon at bay. On the surface, it appeared so. Maybe I should have been more observant. In the few months prior to our wedding, she lost a significant amount of weight (as in 140 lb to about 110lb). She said it was natural nervousness and excitement. We carried forward.Marriage went relatively smoothly for a few months but then, I began to sense that things appeared to be "off." Working late, excuses for seemingly innocuous events not happening. And, I began to question. Finally, she was unceremoniously let go by her long time employer and she came clean... she had been drinking for awhile. She pledged to go back to AA (which she had mostly gotten away from) and swore she would recover.I started to attend Al-Anon and eventually came to understand "The Three Cs."I didn't Cause it.I can't Control it.I can't Cure it.Of course, understanding the Three Cs and embracing them fully are two different topics. I read vociferously on the topic... books, internet articles. All in the hopes of understanding. And, all in the hope of finding .. peace? At the same time, I was struggling to save the life of my daughter. (we are now in year 4+ of her severe eating disorder... a number of doctors have stated that they are amazed she is alive still and that her case is the most severe they have ever seen).Apparently, the stress and pressure of the eating disorder, a marriage going sidewise, and her own lost soul, began to escalate the pressure. She just lost her 4th job in 5 years. Each time, the excuses, finger pointing and blame were placed elsewhere. Our relationship spiraled... again, the finger pointing and blame game, the long, babbling excuses, the lying to me, her family, her friends, her sponsor.... were all attempts to deflect from the heart of her issues. I began to see her much more clearly. The self-absorption... the ego, the self importance, the blame game, the finger pointing, the excuses.. all symptoms of that insidious demon, alcohol and the control it had on her life. And, eventually, you reach a point, perhaps my own "moment of clarity," wherein I was able to finally and with great conviction embrace the reality that "I can't Cure or Control it".. and never will be able to. And I can no longer live like this. Now, granted, I am not a saint as well. I will argue like the attorney I am, do not let a lot of people in, am not easy to give trust. My own flaws are legion. But, self-preservation and saving the life of my daughter predominate and must. We will separate in June and then eventually divorce. That is a certainty. And, I am fully at peace with that decision. As for marrying or entering into a relationship with an alcoholic? Would I do it again? Because of my past experience, no, not a chance. And yet, I see the strength, fortitude and wisdom from some posters on the other thread (you know who you are). And for those people, relationships would in all likelihood be sound and fulfilling. And yet, even still, if asked, if counseled, I would say, "do your research, read, attend Al-Anon, talk to other spouses who have been afflicted... use your instincts, pray on it... communicate." If you have a strong nature, a trusting soul, are well read on the topic, are independent and a belief that past events do not dictate future conduct, then embrace the relationship and glory in the bond that can be formed. If not... you have a very difficult decision to make.I hope others may get something from this posting... and urge you to post your own thoughts if you are in, or have been in this situation. For the TL/DR crowd... 1). Alcoholism is a demon, a destroyer of lives;2). Being the Spouse of an alcoholic can be the most challenging thing you ever do;3). Profit?4 points

What sucks for Arya is that she killed the Night King but nobody was there to witness it except Bran, and he ain't saying shit. "Oh sure, you flew through the air and stabbed him, did you?" [emoji849]4 points

After the torches went out with the Dothraki my wife looked at me and started having an asthma attack because she was so anxious . Had to pause the episode twice because she had to gather herself due to how intense the episode was for her. I thought it was awesome.4 points

Okay, to those who didn't like it: what were you hoping for that you didn't get? I'm not trying to be an asshole; I'm honestly curious. There were several key deaths. Jorah went out like we knew he would. Theon got to redeem himself in a blaze of glory. Lady Mormont died heroically. We got the dragon aerial battle. Arya got the ninja kill on the Night King. The two hottest women on the show, Sansa and Dany are still alive. The cinemtography, music, and tension were great. What did we miss out on? What would've made you happier?4 points

We are adding to the pack in a few weeks. A good friend's White Lab got in a family way with the neighborhood Lothario, a Golden Doodle named Yoda. I sent her a message a week ago asking if the puppies all were spoken for. They were, but she said we were on the wait list. Today, I took my kids to a pop up puppy adoption just to look. There were three cute retreiver mixes (lab/border collie). But when we went back, and I was mulling things, I got a minor emergency call and we had to leave. When I got home, I saw a text from this morning from the friend saying someone had backed out and there was a female pup available. We went over for a meet and greet and were sold. She's 5 weeks at this point. We get to bring her home in another two to three weeks. We've decided on a name I've been holding on to for a while being an Arrested Development fan. Meet "Maeby," our new Golden Honky Doodle. At least two of her siblings are going to other close friends of ours, and another is staying with the nice friends who are giving her to us.4 points

Anyone who says that is flat-out wrong. The answer to where to put your thumb is where it feels comfortable and gives you appropriate leverage to play what you are trying to play. And that varies depending on the situation and the person. Sometimes it's in the middle of the back of the neck, sometimes not. The thumb position thing comes from the world of classical guitar, and some people treat it as definitive in all contexts because classical guitar seems official or something. But classical guitar is a different style with a much wider and flatter fretboard. For open chords, put your thumb where it feels most comfortable. You don't need much leverage for them. For barre chords, there are actually two ways of playing them, and you'll want to learn both for different purposes. One way involves holding your index finger down across 5 or all 6 strings. For this, the thumb firmly in the middle of the back of the neck is indeed, generally, the way to go to give you the most leverage. The other way involves shifting your wrist so that your thumb goes over the top of the fretboard and actually frets the low E string. This way frees your fingers to do quick lead work right out of the chord. But don't take it from me. Take it from these guys.3 points
