So he bought a painting in London. He owns the painting. And now he's arrested, convicted, and sentenced for trying to take the painting somewhere without the government's permission. Yeah, I'm gonna have to side with the rich dude here.9 points

From Private Ryan to MASH...I remember there was this one episode that tracked a series of trades and deals. I think Radar was trying to get Potter some tomato juice, or something like that, and Klinger gave up some stockings for a weekend pass...I don't know; it's been a while. But I think the plot of this fuckery resembles that episode a lot more than any grand scheme with evil geniuses operating behind the scenes. Different assholes with different motivations, with Lev in the middle of it trying to deal out favors and money to make it happen. Look at the different characters on what they want, and what they can provide. Lev/Igor: One of the big mischaracterizations is that they were working for Rudy, that they were his henchmen. They weren't. They were getting paid by Firtash, and they were paying Rudy, not the other way around. Henchmen don't pay their masters. I think they were basically small time grifters, who Firtash used because they had US citizenship. As the story continued, they may have cut side deals for their own profit, but their main loyalty was (and probably still is) to Firtash. They want cash, and they do the work to put deals together. Rudy: You all remember Cohen. In addition to the stuff that got him sent to prison, he was also getting paid by various corporations - domestic and foreign - to influence Trump. In another era, this would have been a scandal in and of itself. When Cohen went to prison, I think Rudy saw a business opportunity, and that is how I see his role in this -working Trump for his clients' advantage. He's rich, but he's not Firtash/oligarch/oilman rich. He is working for a fee, not a grand investment opportunity this corruption will allow. He wants cash, and can provide influence in the White House. Firtash: Currently waiting extradition to the US for unrelated corruption in an Indian deal. Obviously, he wants some influence in the DOJ to slow that down. Less obviously...in January 2019, Poroshenko's government was moving to make changes to the Naftogaz board and to forgive 100s of millions of dollars that Firtash owed. Can you guess who squashed it? Marie Yovanovitch, carrying out the official US policy and seeing these moves as backsliding towards corruption. Yovanovitch had previously worked against such moves that she (...we...the US) believed would result in more corruption. As early as 2016, she countered a move to turn over the state owned pipeline to Ukrtransgaz. Part of her work was fighting corruption in the energy sector. Firtash was a corrupt guy in the energy sector. Firtash wanted her gone, and he can provide cash and connections in Ukraine. Trump: This is the part that everyone is focused on. Trump wanted a politically damaging investigation of Burisma and Bidens publicly announced, and he wanted to undermine the conclusion that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. He also wanted payback for Ukrainians who provided evidence against Manafort. He can provide control of the US Embassy in Ukraine, funding to Ukraine, weapons, control of the DOJ, sanctions on Nordstream II, etc...I get heartburn just typing that all out. Perry, and the oilmen behind Perry: They want to export liquified natural gas. There are few things that will help that, including changes in the Naftogaz board and blocking Nordstream 2. They can provide money to the campaign of anyone that helps with that. Prosecutor General Lutshenko. The PG's office was under scrutiny for a long time, even prior to Lutshenko. Under US pressure, Ukraine started the NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau) which was a rival group that focused on corruption. Yovanovitch, continuing with the US policy on anti-corruption, continued to criticize the PG's office, including specific officers under Lutshenko. When Zelensky won, he was asked who would be his PG, and he quipped something like "I don't know, but it won't start with L and rhyme with utshenko." Lutshenko wanted Yovanovitch fired, and could provide a public announcement of a Burisma/Biden investigation. He did, in fact, announce they were reopening the investigation into Burisma in March of 2019. This was the same time that Solomon ran the hit pieces on Yovanovitch, quoting Lutshenko. Yovanovitch was fired on 4/24, about a month later. But Zelensky was elected on 4/21, which meant Lutshenko wasn't going to be in position to do much about an investigation. So, I think Trump traded the removal of Yovanovitch for the investigation of Burisma. But he didn't really get paid in full. Lutshenko's later backed off his statements, and Zelensky was now in control of the government anyway. So, on the Art of the Deal Part 2, he didn't want some Prosecutor General working with The Hill, he wanted the President of Ukraine to "get in front of a microphone" to announce the investigations. The removal of Yovanovitch opens the way for the oilmen and Ukrainian oligarchs working with Lev/Parnas and Perry to try to restructure the Ukrainian energy sector to allows for easier access to markets (for the oilmen) and easier ability to skim the profits (for the oligarchs.) It's just a collection of greedy fucking morons.9 points

1) some folks surely need killin'. 2) but...once said killin' would no longer be in direct self-defense, I have problems with the state -- and thus by proxy, me -- doing it. 3) I ABSOLUTELY have problems with the state killin' people after the fact, because it's indisputable that we sometimes get it WRONG. 4) because we probably shouldn't be in the revenge killin' business, and definitely because once you kill someone, you can't take it back if you turned out to be wrong, we should just use life without parole. Toss 'em in the cage, and never let them out. Signed, Someone who supported the death penalty for much of his life, but over time put the first three facts together and reached the conclusion at 4).8 points

I think it's awesome how the biggest baby about 'corrupt officials' just glosses over the shadiest motherfucker that's ever resided in the WH. But one borderline holding call in some meaningless CFB game and you'll see this baby cry and cry and cry. You're a real piece of shit. And a dumb piece of shit too, let's not forget that. Because you're probably gloating about the POS part...but don't forget how fucking stupid you are.8 points

This is such a lazy take. Each of the top D candidates offer significant sanity and sensibility benefits over trump. In no way should core supports of one candidate suddenly view Trump as a better option if their candidate loses. Warren is polarizing, and she has a vagina. She's also extremely pro-education, anti-wall street, and pro-labor. These are deep blue causes. Bernie has the socialism anchor around his neck, put there by a very effective disinformation campaign run by the right. If you prefer Biden or Warren, but Bernie gets the nod, realize that he's trying to bring healtcare to the people, and offer a safety net so that our weakest and poorest don't flounder and literally die. Again, basically the definition of Blue. Biden has his shortcomings, and he's sort of the last 'professional politician" on the blue side. He's got skeletons in his closet, because he's been in politics long enough to have seen a massive evolution in the way Americans address major issues. He's also the most qualified public servant on the left side of the aisle right now (that's not a slight to Sens Warren or Sanders, who both have sheepskins in politics). Joe has seen and done it on the biggest stages, and can get shit done. His skeletons PALE in comparison to the ones on the right side of the aisle. Don't play the both sides game when it comes to this election. This isn't a "both sides" issue. Vote blue; vote common human decency.7 points

Pretty sad all those dead bodies they find on so texas ranches. Down in Mex a few years ago I shot a buck that ran off but looked and sounded like a good hit. Pretty much shot and walked down to where he was standing and no blood. Looked around for 5-10 minutes while taljing to our ranch cowboy whom was helping me look. Finally found him laying about 10-15 yards off the sendero in some thick thick brush you coukdnt see in to. Thing is in that 15 minutes we looked around and talked just 10-15 yards away from the deer, the coyotes had eaten a large chunk from 1 of his hindquarters and into his abdomen. They body was still warm. Crazy to think he was getting eaten by coyotes a few yards from us and we didnt hear anything. /CSB I did shoot this guy this week in mexico [emoji1166]. Old buck we had only night time cam pics for the last 4 years. We had been looking for him since. No one had seen him in the flesh. Post rut he showwd up on a good spot we corn and high rack hunt. As soon as I saw him I knew who he was. He had lost a lot of size in body and head gear. Been a dry dry year which didnt help. Was nice finally getting him.7 points

You guys are out of your fucking gourds. This guy was a bum at KSU that the administration had to stomach on the payroll as a courtesy to the dad. He's been pushed aside and relegated to a desk in the basement and no one but his family is worried about it. Take him as an analyst if we get send Horny packing, but as a coach? What the fuck are you thinking? You want to post someone in the TE coaching slot that has no history of anything but poor performance as a recruiter?6 points

My 20 year old Kenmore dishwasher finally quit working right. Replaced the heating element and it worked for a couple weeks then took another shit. Decided to invest in a new, more efficient unit. Found a GE that I liked at Lowe's and ordered for delivery. This was right after New Year, so I cut them a little slack on logistics. A week goes by and I get a call that goes to vm because I don't answer random numbers. It says the unit has to be shipped from another store and will be ready in a few days. Yesterday arrives, but without my dishwasher. WTF? Online status say processing. I call Lowe's CS line and after a 5 minute hold am told the unit is waiting for my pickup at the store. I told her it was a deliver, ahem, FREE delivery and I still wanted delivery. She put me on hold again for a couple minutes, said the earliest she could schedule me was a week from tomorrow. I got pissed and cancelled the order. Went back online, looked around and still couldn't find a better deal than this dishwasher, so I said fuck it and reordered the same damn one. Less than 30 minutes later I'm on the phone with the local delivery guys and it will be here at 10 am tomorrow.6 points

I lived in NOLA quite awhile. I’ve seen their pigs in action. They are thin skinned little Napoleonic bitches. Black, white, yellow, red, it don’t matter. If you don’t respect their authoritah, then they’re coming after you. They look for ANY excuse to exercise this. People celebrating anything, irrespective of race, is a target rich environment.
