  6. Wife can't sleep last night and wakes me up around 1:30am. Now I can't sleep. She takes an ambien. I take some melatonin. Hour goes by, still no sleep. She gets up, pours herself a glass of wine. Comes to bed maybe 45 mins later. Of course I'm still awake. I figure this might be a good time to knock one out to help me pass out. I make a move but she's pretty groggy at this point after the pills and wine, and not into it. So I go rub one out. I take off my wedding ring and set it down in the bathroom, get down to business, and then finally go back to bed and pass out. I get up early, take my daughter to school and go to my office while my wife's still asleep. I get a frantic phone call after she wakes up and finds my wedding ring in the bathroom, "Oh my God. What happened last night? I'm completely freaking out. What did I say? Are we getting divorced?"

  10. again, it's about blatant hypocrisy. firing on all cylinders? you got on your knees for a man incapable of forming complete sentences. incapable of even attempting to read briefings. incapable of doing really anything expected of someone leading a small business, much less the USA. all of that sadly was happening, and you never said a fucking word about it. and yet, here you are, super concerned about the current POTUS...not firing on all cylinders. I can't say this more sincerely: FUCK. YOU.

  12. Better than an argument that once occurred at my house. Her: You do not like blow jobs, I've never seen you get one! Me: That's because you won't give me one and since we're married you're my only option. The closest I've ever gotten to not liking blow jobs was decades ago when I got a really toothy one that bruised my junk from my high school girlfriend and it was still glorious. Last year you were having drinks with your friend and you called and asked if I wanted anything on your way home. I said "yes, a blow job when you get home" and you said "okay". I got pissed at you because you came home and didn't give me a blow job! Me: I assure you, I like getting head, it feels good. Her: No, it doesn't. Me: What?!?!?!? Think about what you're doing -- you're arguing with *ME*, a guy with a dick, about whether *I* like it to get sucked by a woman! Have you lost your fucking mind? Why would you be arguing about this? Every guy in the world likes getting head and you'll find that out someday when we get divorced. Narrator: They got divorced a year later.

  16. Not to pick on you, but I hate this short-circuiting type of response. It seems to assume that the only reason for this investigation would be to impeach Kavanaugh. I don't think that's accurate. This is an FBI issue. Why did they turn their back on evidence and fail to interview witnesses? That was reported at the time. If wrongdoing was a practice in the FBI, it needs to be rooted out and those responsible held to account. This investigation is more about the Executive than the Judiciary. There is also the possibility that information so egregious (not only sexual conduct but also an accounting of where Kavanaugh's wealth came from) that impeachment could indeed be the right move just as Trump's impeachments were the correct moves. I don't care about predictions regarding outcomes. I think you do the right thing and see where it takes you. Should the evidence merit that Kavanaugh be impeached for sex crimes or corruption, then let the GOP shoot themselves in the dick again by siding with the evil they try to hide in themselves. Further, if the FBI was corrupted in the name of Kavanaugh, what other Trump appointments were similarly given passes for criminal or reprehensible conduct? Don't you want to know? Whatever your answer is, don't you think the goverment should want to know? Or do we just roll over?

  18. I think we’re going to have to start calling you 5figs because you’re becoming more like Taylor Hamm everyday. Schools already hold in-person camps every year and they’ve been doing it forever. Remembers all those junior days Mack did? This is just allowing that to happen later than usual once campuses open up. It’s not actually changing anything or making college more like the NFL at all.

  19. The hospital post made me choke and reminded me how much I miss you drunks. I stepped away from Surly because I got busy as hell Jan 2020 and needed to spend more time working than fucking around, then all hell broke loose. I'm grateful I managed to have a job and stay sober (3 years now!) through it all. At times it was lonely and surreal, but nothing will ever be as lonely and insane as the final months of my active alcoholism. I'm grateful for the program that taught me to take life on life's terms, and live it one day at a time. It kept me sane, sober, and useful to others and myself during the most difficult year we have collectively suffered through. Not sure how much I'll be on here, but I want you all to know how grateful I am for each and every one of you. I hop on out of the blue and you're still doing the work and helping out. I miss you all and God willing we'll meet in the flesh one day when things are safe again. If you're new here, you can trust any of these folks with your life if you're looking to save your own. Much love, happy days.

It's great because we can all be sad and mad and be here for hours and not learn a thing except Brisket types fast. Thanks Bob.

  26. Working on 18 years. If I can do it, trust me, anyone can. I was a functioning alcoholic who wanted to quit so badly and thought I could do it by myself. I couldn’t. God led me to the people and the program (AA) I needed after many years of prayer and suffering. Today, I’m blessed and so thankful.

  38. Man, you are right on the edge of being negged to the shithole you crawled out of. If there's one thing about any politician that can be verified by literally any non-mentally impaired human being, it's that Biden was completely devastated by his son's death and has repeatedly said (in tears) that his son should be running for president instead of him. Obama told him repeated that he didn't owe anybody anything and didn't have to run in 2016 or 2020. So yea, a big fuck you for insinuating otherwise, you fucking cunt.

  40. This. Now that this is its own thread.....maybe the biggest problem America has is that we love to sniff our own farts and talk about our glory days as if they define us today. We are Al Bundy. constantly crowing about our four touchdowns in one game.... ......yet we fail to realize that we've become THIS Al Bundy: The Land of Opportunity, the American Dream, the "American Exceptionalism" that we actually had from WWII to around the mid 1970s......that shit is GONE. If you look at our general economic opportunity and mobility over the past generation or so, we're just another stagnant western democracy. Worse than others in many respects, better in some. The primary reasons why we are a "magnet" for people from other countries is 1) proximity (if you're living a nightmare in Honduras, the closest "non-nightmare" country is the US), and 2) vestiges of our formerly friendly immigration and asylum policies. We WERE a magnet for immigrants for a long time -- in ye olde days, because we were a big-ass empty country that didn't give a fuck who came here, and then went nativist for a while, and then went gung-ho post war, being especially friendly to refugees from communist countries. But that approach is fading fast. When I think of where I want my kids to make their lives, there's no particularly compelling reason that the US stands above other western nations. There are things I like in the US vs. Germany, for example (seriously, it's a BITCH to get a fishing license in Germany -- that sucks). But there are things I like in Germany vs. the US (much better gov't approach to the general welfare). Both of them have their own species of racism problems (good old American racism, vs. the fact that the gotdamn Nazis never went all the way away....they just kept quiet for a few decades until they could come back as AfD; the UK is racist AF as well). But it means that it comes down to a list of differing pros and cons. There is no clear "this country is EASILY the GREATEST IN THE WORLD!" winner, even though we crow that incessantly. Believing our own bullshit is the biggest obstacle to any effort at improvement. I think we WERE that country (again, not without some serious-ass warts -- ask all the people we bombed the fuck out of for decades, and our civil rights struggle sure put our ugly side on display). And I think we actually have an inherent spirit and ability to achieve that CAN lead us to being exceptional (we went to the fucking moon, motherfuckers). But when our response to any notion of "so....this thing about us isn't great....we should work on that" is "fuck you! Love it or leave it, GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!", self-improvement is actually an enemy that we fight against instead of an opportunity we embrace. Let's stop crowing about the four touchdowns we scored in one game back in 1945. Let's work on getting back in shape so we can at least compete in the adult flag football league, instead of sitting on the couch in our dirty shirt with our hand down our pants (I mean, that's my lecture for Y'ALL....I'm totally gonna spend my days on the couch, hand down my pants. Because that's awesome).
