Wow, what the fuck happened to this dude's brain? The idea that educated "liberals" (really, educated people in general) would be having mask burnings and taking horse paste if Trump had been pro lockdown and pushed the vaccine as hard as he could from Day 1...the fuck, man. What a selfish, myopic asshole. I haven't worn a mask or socially distanced once in the past 18 months with the thought, "I bet this would piss off Trump" in my head. I'll listen to an argument that the mandates were more "extreme" as a direct opposition to Trump's idiocy, but most would have still been there--and supported--regardless of Trump's positions. Because we're not all assholes.22 points

And there is something else about this one. No politics, but I am tired of hearing about how fucked up the Afghans were across the board. My engineers could build anything, yet USAID brought in Bolivians (not joking) to build roads in Helmand. Well they were built Bolivian style and instead of just dirt they were covered in river gravel. Made this a lot harder to spot IED's AND caused more shrapnel. There are some damn good people there. The medical staff at Bost Hospital had no support, yet never stopped trying. The members of my monitoring teams would go into Taliban areas to gather information so we could determine what would work and what was needed, and not what DOD/DOS or the White House thought was needed from DC. The construction personnel building training centers in the mountains, in December, never stopped working. We utilized as much of the local talent as we could. And in a large part, Kabul based Journalists who spent a lot of time going to bars at night, flying to Dubai on weekends, the image of the Afghans, and contractors, was sullied since that is where the stories were. Not all of them sucked. Not all of them were pussies, heroin addicts, thieves, rapists. But that is how we want to portray them since it lets us look down on them. Sure there were major problems. But I have seen them in over 10 missions overseas ranging from straight development to complex peacekeeping to full out war. Afghanistan is just one of the places. I thought about posting a picture of my 32nd birthday in Lash but decided nah, some of those people might still be alive. A typical Afghan evening, sitting out in the grass with the monitor teams, agriculture specialists (Most Indian trained, led by our Afghan lead with his PHD from University of Nebraska) and our security personnel and the two brits working with me. Half of them did not know what a birthday was, the other half could speak 4-5 languages. It was perhaps my best birthday ever. I do want to thank the board for letting me vent on this. Like @MillerEP this has been rough. Getting the WhatsApp calls starting about 11PM to then watching the news during the day. Overload. I need a beer.......13 points

Funny you'd mention those two things... Today I was on a gig two counties away. Drove out on the interstate, gnawing on a PBJ sandwich made out of some hippy bread that's all nuts and berries, it was good. While out there working, I got thirsty. Grabbed a little bottle of milk. That was good too. Got done early, and decided to take some shady two-lanes back to town, because they are pretty. They also take 30 minutes longer, but what is time? Nice drive back through the country. Then I'm in stop-and-go generic suburbia, starting to get the farts, but no sign of worse. I pass dozens of fast food restaurants with functioning bathrooms, but I don't need them, not me! Finally I am only about 5 miles from home, locked into traffic, but hey, I can make it. About 2 miles out, I realize it is about to hit. I have eased out all the air farts I have left. The next one will be Sea Monster. I am in a dead zone commercially with only one business within my rapidly-reduced range. A gas station. The kind where you have to go in and get the bathroom key on a stick from the guy. I am not going to make it. I look at the other side of the road where there is a parking lot for a running trail, are there some portapotties? Fuck if I know, green light, hit the gas,, I am dead, it is over, KAMIKAZE! I cut off a pick-up truck while my body reverse-prison-rapes me. I feel a rattlesnake slither from under my butt. I am driving normally now, what's the rush. Oh here's another wave, more liquid. I roll through Craftsman Cottage 1940s Suburbia with the window down, slowly easing past joggers. Construction? Of course there's construction making me ease into a blindspot where there could be oncoming cars. A fender-bender would be great right now, get out with pants full of brown sackrete, oh yeah that'll buff out, here's my number and insurance. Several more baby sharts join Mama and Daddy Shart in my pants, and I'm home. There's a hidden way from the garage to the back deck, where I strip off boots and socks (wonderfully dry) and then peel off pasty trousers and underwear and toss them out on the damn deck for a future thunderstorm to take care of. One of my legs is clean, the other looks like it rolled in the mud at Woodstock. Tiptoe to the shower, where I have to rub my hand all up in the actual clay-like shit on my messy leg to get it off. Then I ignore the clothes out on the deck, the disaster of the car seat, and go up to bed just to lie down and refocus. When I feel stronger, I get dressed in regular dirty clothes (I mean, why the hell not) and go throw the shart garments inside out on the grass and blast them. Then I fill a bucket with soapy water, toss those clothes in it, and stir them around with a stick just like a fucking savage. I don't know if they will ever come clean or not. They are still outside on the deck in the bucket. As for the car seat, I don't give a fuck about that right now. I hit it with a little of the soapy water, but the garage is honestly too dark to see and I'm too tired to move the car into better light. I took the no-doubt-fecal-flecked shower towel and folded it several times as a seat cover over any refugee mini-turds that maybe extruded into that place. I just don't care. I am defeated.12 points

Not to defend Roach here, but holy fuck these two pussies couldn't have taken a bigger leap with that quote. I don't think Roach isn't saying near what they say he's saying.12 points

Finally after many months of work including flying out to persuade... my parents (late 70's) finally got their first vaccine dose today. Can't tell you how relieved I am that they've started the process finally. By all accounts well educated, smart people, just didn't want to get it for various reasons. I was finally able to push them over the hump this weekend. They said they were getting closer to getting it but my talk gave them enough to take immediate action. Their indecision was in large part to my mom's adverse reaction to many, many medicines, combined with relatively good health - my dad's never taken/needed an antibiotic in his life, and their hope that it would "blow over". I finally said, based on what's going on in schools and the fact that the rest of the world is way behind as well, that it is no longer a matter of "if" but a matter of "when" they where getting the vaccine. Also added the true fact that I was personally starting to lose sleep and was physically taking a toll worrying about them not being vaccinated. Another couple months I'll be even happier, but at least there is major progress.10 points

At age 51 I have a hard time accepting being old. I have an even harder time accepting this world of so many stupid people. Stupid people who would harm themselves and everyone else by proxy. I am not calling myself a genius, or even all that intelligent. But I know enough to listen to those who are experts in their fields. Back in the 80s if you told me how many technological advances we would have at my age now I would have assumed that world was full of smart people and run by even smarter people. Naïveté of youth I suppose. The technology to fight this killer virus in such a relatively short time is amazing. And yet the stupidity of the masses brings us down. It’s depressing.9 points

As a web marketing guy, you need a clearer call to action, my man. Looks good, but give it "Join Now" or "Contribute Now" button. Clicking on images and getting a blown up image isn't intuitive when you're trying to capture momentum in the shopping process. Looks good though.9 points

This "100 people are in charge" trope is just so fucking tiresome. Every school has boosters that the school needs for funding etc and a Chancellor, AD etc It all boils down to winning. Saban is fully in charge as he has won so much. If Sark wins at level Saban does the dude will have everyone the fuck out of his way and money will rain down from the fucking heavens for whatever he wants for the team/program. Right now there are "3 people in charge" above Sark that organized move to SEC (which helps Sark in long run), got South endzone built and new offices (again helps Sark in long run) and set up a cool branding opportunity for the players via NIL (As slow a start as that has been) What Bama does have that Texas doesn't is the fact that Bama is not viewed as the savior for all of the other shitty colleges in Alabama. Texas apparently is expected to feed and care for Baylor, Tech, TCU etc. Bama isn't treated with disdain by its conference lead, officials and fellow members. Texas has been. That would be the annoyance more than some boosters that want to put on coaching shorts every now and then (although having to let MM speak to the team each fall camp in his rambling, incoherent manner would get old as fuck too). Having your conference actively work against you in coaches polls for playoff seatings/bowl games etc is not something Saban ever has to deal with. I am not saying Bama's 2nd string wouldn't beat Texas' 1st as they have clearly out recruited Texas for the past decade, but it's not because Saban doesn't have to answer to anyone.9 points
